I absolutely LOVE how your portrait turned out! I have adored every single Holbein art supply that I have tried, the quality has never once let me down. I have a small Holbein 12 pastel-coloured pencil set and they really are a dream to work with. They are so creamy and different from any other brand of coloured pencil I have tried. I am so happy you got all of these Holbein goodies! I can't wait to see you work with them!! ❤❤
Thank you so much for watching Em!! And I feel the same way about holbein. The only thing im scared of is their watercolors, because i haven’t tried them yet and im worried they might disappoint me for the first time
@@hambotI think you’ll love the watercolors since you like the Mijellos. They perform similarly and with that high pigment load we all love from Holbien. I have all of mine dried in pans and I use them whenever I want reliable watercolors that stay where I want them in larger washes. But really it depends what effect you are looking for. If you want the opposite I’d say try QOR they have an additive. They are WILD! lol
I live over in the US across the pond and these are kind of hard to find in a shop that cares about packaging, and keeping the pencils safe. But I managed to find at drckblick for here in the US that sells them. I've gotten about 60 ish colors so far from the range open stock- mainly the pastel tones, skin tones then some of the blue greens. They're really nice pencils and 'play well' with other pencils like the Polychromos and Prismacolor pencils.
@@smencosdepasolin the US, according to online sources, anything for personal use under $800 from Japan is duty free, with a few exceptions on specific types of merchandise, pencils not being one of them. I often buy CDs, fountain pens and other items from Japan and I've never been slapped with a customs fee, even when spending a lot of money. I doubt getting these from Japan would get you a fee if you're in the US. Outside of there...that's entirely another story as I know Canada and other countries often have ridiculous customs fees.
Always a joy seeing a new video from you, ham. The portrait turned out beautiful, would you be willing to do more color pencil work on your channel? I’d love to see it!
I've watched this video so many times because I absolutely love your use of color! So beautiful! I don't really do art much anymore, mostly just do coloring books as coloring has always been my favorite part. I haven't drawn in years and I'm afraid I'd have to essentially start over teaching myself to draw again, so I don't. Anyways, I loved how you chose colors for this and I have quite a few portrait coloring books and kind of want to try something similar out now! Don't think I'll ever get over how pretty this is!
Saw this when it came out but I came back since I really loved it and forgot to pay attention to how you were using your grays. It is a masterpiece and I’m thinking about trying a course when I’m bored since you have so much fun with them!
I am absolutely no expert in art or using coloured pencils, but the grainy texture of your colouring leads me to think perhaps it would have looked better on smoother paper.
Her sketchbook is watercolor paper, so it would take a lot of effort to fill the tooth of the paper, hence why she didn't. You're right, it would look better with smoother toothed paper
Do they Crack really easy? At the end the pencils on the right look cracked all the way to the bottom 😨 I love this one and I still think it looks like your style!
No! Those are my holbeins from my old set that got submerged in flood water for 24 hours and still survived. These pencils are actually incredibly durable. The label on the pencils cracked but I still use them to this day 😳

@@Klynkha now im really excited!! Somehow, I imagined them to be very clean and not super pigmented!
I'll never get over how gorgeous that HUGE box of pencils is 😍 the vibrant tones really suit your art style, it's such a beautiful drawing ❤
Thank you so much Chantelle! I keep on thinking the pastel colors would work really well with your art style too!!
