    I always learn something new from your videos! In this particular vlog I learned about “organic natural flavors”. It’s SOOO hard to avoid all bad ingredients, you truly are realistic in what you teach and letting people know options 🎉🎉

      Thanks for sharing!! I have learned that small steps are better than none. I want to be realistic and show that everyone has options. It is still very hard to find clean foods and companies are getting better at hiding the bad unfortunately.
      I love hearing such positive stuff, thank you and be well!

    Those frozen wild blueberries from Costco are a great deal.
    And wild blueberries taste so much better than the cultivated blueberries (which are
    way bigger).

      You got that right! Just so much better for us, I would love to have them growing around my area. Lol

      The only problem is that in making my vitamix smoothies, the larger organic blueberries are sweeter, bigger and mixes way better than the smaller and drier wild blueberries. Big difference in texture and taste. The wild ones are just not tastier whether on smoothies or over waffles.

      Try using a little Stevia and when I make Ezekiel French Toast I will put the blueberries in a small sauté pan frozen with monk fruit and they become a great little blueberry reduction.

    Very good information. Thank you. You have earned another subscriber and I’ll encourage anyone and everyone to subscribe to this channel.
    Marketing is a tricky thing when it comes to the food we are encouraged to buy and consume. It’s a minefield out there! Matter of Fact, it’s out of control. I recently went to our local Publix grocery store, had my grocery list, but decided to go isle by isle and read the ingredients on every label, making sure I did not put anything into the buggy that had anything bad in the ingredients. #1, doing this took a great amount of my time. #2, I found out that actually buying good food w less ingredients ended up costing more money and time. #3, and this is a big one, I ended up with only 5 Total items in my buggy out of a 42 item list, I was absolutely blown away by the marketing labels vs actual ingredients. You see, I have trusted the FDA etc., and have often bought food based on what the front of each package had written on it, Huge mistake as they are Very Misleading!!!!!!! So nice to see someone w real knowledge that will point out both the marketing of pure crap and what’s actually good for our mind, body and health. I appreciate you taking the time to read the labels and give us this valuable ingredient information.

    • @healthylivingrite
      @healthylivingrite  7 місяців тому

      Wow! What an amazing comment and compliment!!! Thank you so very much! I have had people tell me that after learning the rules of label reading, how much more time they spend in the stores but they are so thankful for the knowledge. I am one of those people who really enjoys being at the store.
      I have a Publix across from where I live but I rarely go. They are largely focused on unhealthy brands or if it is healthy you will spend a fortune buying it. I am so happy to hear comments like yours, Thank you for joining the team!!!🥰

      I think we can make small incremental changes that will have vast positive implications. If having natural flavors over loads of added sugar or seed oils will be the determining factor. I say give me natural flavors. It has to be realistic to be able to adhere to making healthy changes. I applaud anyone who is trying.

    I’m from Ukraine and we have a lot of natural food. Moving to USA now it’s a challenge to find good food with good ingredients. Thank you for your channel. Running this week for chocolate coconut cup for sure))
    P.s.: you mentioned that without antibiotics it’s not that organic. I’m always confused what chicken or beef to buy. Specially beef in Costco, looks great but there is no tag what kind of meat is it (in raw sections). Will be happy to see video about meat in Costco. 😊

    • @healthylivingrite
      @healthylivingrite  7 місяців тому +1

      I prefer grass fed only but in the us there are three different levels of organic - “100% organic,” “organic” and “made with organic.” “100% organic” means that all ingredients are organic, and no non-organic ingredients or processing aids are used.
      “Organic” means that 95% of ingredients are organic and the remainder of ingredients are approved for use in organics. For a product to carry the USDA organic label, an accredited third-party certification body must verify that the product meets the 100% organic. Both the “organic” or “made with organic” claims will be clearly labeled but not as USDA 100% organic.

    Hope to find the organic chicken sausage at my local Costco - so far, no luck.
    Please be advised that food producers are not allowed to add antibiotics or hormones - this is a marketing gimmick similar to cage-free chickens.
    A brief tutorial on TPT - total parenteral nutrition - salt, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, lipids, glucose - is used, for example, when the GI tract is nonfunctional, GI bleed, there exists an absorption impairment, patient is in a coma, cancer patients, patients with acute pancreatitis, etc. The patient is assessed before TPN commences - doctors, nurses, pharmacists, registered dieticians evaluate lab data, patient condition, etc., to determine the formula & infusion rate. TPN is never glucose-only as this is not considered nutrition.
    IV dextrose is used in emergency situation when a persons blood sugar is dangerously low, they cannot drink/eat/swallow, & their life is threatened. IV Dextrose is also used in those with high potassium levels as this can cause a deadly (heart) dysrhythmia. Dextrose is added to IV solution in certain circumstances such as severe dehydration, a prolonged period of vomiting and/or diarrhea.

    • @healthylivingrite
      @healthylivingrite  7 місяців тому +1

      Audrey,
      Thank you so much for watching and your feedback. I love your attention to detail and vast knowledge of current TPN practices. I unfortunately came across many cases while working with infusion companies where glucose abnormalities (hyper- or hypoglycemia) and liver dysfunction became big problems both with TPN and PPN (peripheral parenteral nutrition). BTW, I love the logo on your channel. "Warroom Posse"
      The marketing gimmicks are sad and out of control, I still get fooled from time to time. We are never to old to learn.
      Best Regards!

      I looked at both and I'm not a fan of either due to the super high sugar and the Orgain has Sunflower oil. I'm assuming you're trying to gain size or weight? I always suggest making sure your number one macro is being met. Typically at 1to1 ratio (gran per pound of body weight). Please try to avoid sugars and seed oils whenever possible.

      I totally understand, I have a teenager who is into fitness. I always tell him to focus on high caloric nuts and proteins. I think dirty bulking just creates bad eating habits. Sounds like you're doing a great just making sure the proper nutrition is provided. Check out Ascent Protein at Costco, at least there isn't any bad oils. Add some good nut butter and grass fed milk. That would be a solid shake, high in calories. Best of luck and nice chatting with you...

      @healthylivingrite  8 місяців тому +1

      Well that can be a loaded question but I will just say that I personally will not consume any Canola (aka Rapeseed) Sunflower or safflower oils. I keep it fairly basic with just Avocado, Olive and Ghee all depending on the need. I have found that after eliminating the seed oils I feel 1000x better and can always tell when I go out to a restaurant if they use seed oils by the way my body feels almost immediately afterwards. The inflammation is very real...

    Costco 92101 is not allowing substitute products that stay and don't get removed after few months for food allergies like wheat and whey products. So I have to shop elsewhere for half my groceries. Just a shame

      That sucks! I'm sorry, I don't understand why they do these things unless it's a regional thing.

    Can you recommend a First class protein powder, without a bad aftertaste.

      I personally use Levels Grass Fed Whey. I love the taste and very clean however I could probably drink anything just knowing the importance of meeting my protein goals.

    Those chicken/apple sausages are a little high on the sodium, IMO

      If you're under certain dietary restrictions for HBP or hypertension, definitely follow any guideline set by your physician. I typically don't focus on sodium due to a very low carb diet, strenuous gym work outs and sauna sessions. However I do think the majority of people who consume ultra processed foods and beverages need to be cautious with sodium.
      Keep in mind that more than 70% of the sodium Americans eat comes from packaged, prepared and restaurant foods - not the salt shaker. I hope to help change this through consumer education.
      Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it greatly!

    By defrosting the frozen wild blueberries, do they lose much nutritional benefit? Or best to use frozen like in a smoothie?

    • @healthylivingrite

      No, defrosting changes nothing. The consistency will be a little wet but nutritionally they will be superior to standard organic. Try mixing them into some yogurt for a power packed protein snack.

      @@healthylivingrite Also great for making jam for a PB&J. I use allulose, berries, and a packet of powdered lemon. Delish.

      Now I have to try that, I can't find any healthy jams. Allulose is great! Costco had it briefly, now gone like so many other goodies...
      your recipe sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing Kathy!

    I agree premier protein is junk. How about fairlife, orgain, etc? Learn something every time. Take care.

    • @healthylivingrite
      @healthylivingrite  8 місяців тому +1

      Well that's a loaded question and I can often go down the rabbit hole..Lol
      With that said, Fairlife Elite has 2 very ugly ingredients (Acesulfame Potassium, Carrageenan) both disrupt the GI and microbiome and at the end of the day I put my gut first along with protein. RTD's are tricky. Orgain's Organic Protein Grass Fed Protein Shake is the lesser of the 2 evils but it does have Sunflower Oil. I'm sorry if this wasn't very helpful. I will look into doing a video on protein shakes soon.

    Pointing to the bad ingredients would be nice, so we learn to watch for it.

      Will do, right now I'm a one man show so holding the camera and the product makes it hard to point. As time moves forward I hope to have someone do filming. Thank you for the feedback!
