- Very cool to check out the new 1/10 Capra 1.9 4WS "Four Wheel Steer" Ready-to-Run Trail Buggy. Being able to steer with both front and rear wheels adds a whole new element to RC crawling, taking an already capable rig to the next level. In this video, we unbox it, talk about the features (including what's changed from the previous RTR), and trail it on a local mtb trail! Takes some getting used to the rear steering controls, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I'm pretty amazed at how fun the rear wheel steering is and how capable it made this little rig. From the super tight turning radius, to keeping the rear uphill while side hilling, and being able to work the back end side to side while working features make it a blast to drive. It also adds that extra level of complexity as it's something else for you to think about while crawling.

@Dave N he has a custom one that he made. It was originally just a 4wd and not a 4ws one but he switched out the rear axle to make it 4ws. His is the dark green and black Capra.

Enjoy that your verbal portion is very precise to the details and points. Trail footage was really good. Location was quite pleasing to see the rig traverse. 5 more mins of the trail couldn’t hurt IMO.

Great review. These Capra's are very cool. I got both colors and changed the wheels to aluminum. Thinking of doing a custom one with the blue wheels I have.

Well I'm surprised you haven't tried the $99 Danchee Ridgerock 4Ws rig. It's surprisingly capable out of the box for that price. And a few mods later it's a few steps better!
Couldn’t agree more! Very capable with all the same steering capabilities for a lot less money. I love mine,and their totally upgradable too! I’m sure this Capra is good, but the ridgerock definitely is worth attention! Stills well done video RC girl!👊🏼🤗🍻
Is this where we're meeting for the Ridgerock Love Fest??? I love my Ridgerock and am shocked that the Capra can't touch its steering functionality. Now if Redcat could just give us a Pro version so people take us seriously. Lol

@@OGs_Playground I hear you, but I also kind of understand the reason why Axial went this route. Having just two switched rates for the rear steer, is sufficient for most situations. Though it will marginally reduce that truck's capability against proportional in a competition scenario.

Great review & look. I’m due for a new RC & I’ve looked at this rig but have been somewhat skeptical about buying an Axial in general. I’ve been wanted to buy one tho because the Axial SCX 24 was my first RC & the one that started me out. I have mostly 1:10 scale crawlers now & didn’t touch the SCX24 for months. Just recently I’ve taken it back out & man that thing is so fun. Of course I’ve upgraded darn near everything in RC style. Im paying close attention to all the reviews & comments on the new Capra. My first though is ok I can get the Danshee for $120 & & for that price could still upgrade & be way under the price of the Capra. But sometimes you just gotta go big! Im slowly moving in that direction & you definitely put a good spin on it. And of course the RC is the one that did the work & performed & looked awesome. I love that it comes with lights. The wheels are already turning in my head & thinking ok first thing metal bead locks 🤔. Here we go on another RC adventure!

Four wheel steer can get you out of some tricky spots, or make it worse. I prefer it over dig myself.

Great video from a beautiful young lady. I am definitely gonna grab me one of the Currie edition. I’ve not had a Capra so this will be the first had the ryft it was just not durable enough. I am a little bummed axial didn’t come out with something new their developmental team need to get on the ball but still pretty cool rc.

The transmitter is a little disappointing, I figured they would have a better set up. At least something similar to the flysky gt5 where it has preset selectable steering modes. But I have my rear steering on my channel 5 so I have complete independent control of the rear servo
Thank you for the nice presentation ! I keep on hearing and Reading complaints about the gear ratio beeing too small (not a smooth enough throttle control and virtually no ''creeping'' possibility). What's your take on that? Have a great yr 2023!
Battery compartment is pretty tight, I use the ZEE PREMIUM SERIES 4200mah 120c batteries in mine. They fit just fine.

I have a 2300kv fusion pro in a couple of my crawlers. Is there an advantage to a lower kv like the 1400 kv you mentioned???

The S614 servo.. How long did it last for you? I got one conservative run with the Savvy bomber out the box. Luckily they sent me another one which also died. I'm that guy that worries about axles getting gouged by rocks.. but the servo, junk or bad luck? Sad they put them in the 4ws capra. You got the power, send them a request!!
I’m a little bummed, this was the first thing I did to my Capra. However I like the way this 4WS is controlled better than mine, but that could just be my DX5 features. Great vid Hayley!

@@RCGirl I’ll check it out! I have the DX5 before the rugged was released and it has a 4WS mixing profile so when you turn it on it mixes as you steer with the wheel

Idk seems like axial cannot think out side the box? Take an old model put Currie on it a few upgrades & call it new! Surprised it didn’t come with a jeep body on it lol. At least I will be able to buy the axles & build a legit 4 wheel steer rig.maybe next they will come out with a 4 wheel steer RYFT then I might get excited being how that’s my next kit I’m buying! Can I use a Traxxas ID Lipo battery on a stock Capra?
No, Traxxas uses their own connector and smart charging technology. The Capra is also pretty picky on what size will fit in it.
@@mtnmyke do you need an adapter with 11.4V 3600mAh 3S1P 50C Adventure Lipo Battery, XT60?
@@cwatson5407 Capra comes with EC3 connector. They make xt60 to ec3 adapters. However, no way a battery that size will fit as a 1300mah is recommended. The battery tray is rather small on the Capra.
