As someone looking to get into the business, I just want to say thank you. For the most part it's been secretive and black voodoo magic until I came across your channel. Again, thank you.
You made my day
Just purchased my first grinder yesterday, and I actually have a fall over in my yard that I didn’t know how to grind, now I can’t wait to get home to attack it! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
I appreciate your advice and awesome willingness to help people out getting into this, I just dabble in it as a side hustle to help make ends meet, your advice is so valuable to me, thank you!
Thanks my friend
Excellent tip. We got quite a few trees get knocked over with a recent windstorm.
MustangRebuilder, thank you my man. I started in the spring doing stumps with a Power King walk behind and found that my beat-up old body couldn't take the beating more than 3 hours. Invested in a Vermeer sc252 and my God what a difference. I would love to add a push blade / bucket on mine. I'm going to do some MacGyver fabricating and I will keep you posted for spring 2022. Bucket Hydraulics do not have to be powerful, just enough to lift a bucket load of sawdust into my truck, that takes care of the raking.
Thanks for the great teaching! Im getting ready to start my own business and i wouldn't have had a clue how to attack this.
Another great video with valuable information. It's nice to see your procedure and very nice that you explain WHY you do it a that way. Thank you!

Thanks for all your videos. I am retiring in 2 years and looking at getting into the stump grinding business. There are only two guys in about a 5 county area (very rural area) that grind stumps and they are both in their mid 70s. From talking to them and the couple tree guys in the area, there is way more work than these 2 guys can (or want to) do. I had a list of questions I was looking for answers to and have found many of them on your site. Thanks for taking time out of your day to make these videos.
I glad I was able to help you out brother

Great video and advise, never had to grind that thing, but I'll know how for the day I will get one like that. If you have the opportunity, I'd like to know how you deal with stumps full of rocks.
Will do
I’m learning so much from you. What do know about the Red Roo grinders? Do you know if the sell in the US? Thanks.
They are sold in Australia from what I know and I think rebranded Bandit

I have a question! When you charge $ by the inch, is the diameter measurement multiplied by 3.14, or is it just the diameter inch across? Justin
straight across the widest part of the stump and uproots are different and tricky for a new guy to price but one way like the one in video is 2 x what normal tree would be if it was not uprooted
We call them Blow overs. My favorite stumps to grind.
See I learned something today
Home depot rental grinders are they any good for a 5feet oaktree?
For a 5 footer no

Great video! Thank you!
How do you like those Bandit machines? Are they reliable, and would you buy them again?
The zt1844 has been updated by Bandit to sg40 and its a great bag for the buck the 2550 is 50hp and my buddy runs a new one with the new motor with computer and electric over hydraulic pump and even the shops dont know how to fix them so by a 3yr old model with kabuta diesel and manual pump engagement
Thank you for the info! We run a 252 and an SC70. I’ve always been interested in the Bandit machines. I am really interested in seeing how their new SG75 performs.
I want to say thank you very much for your time . I am looking at my retirement exit in to stump grinding . I have a lot of questions that you have covered . Would you suggest the new bandit sc40 . Or a 2550 for starting out . Thanks for time .
first, look who is closest for dealer support
Mustang Rebuilder
I live in Michigan about an hour or so from bandit industry’s .
@@richarddietlein8336 will they sell and service one near you
Mustang Rebuilder
Yes they will . They have a sales and service department . I been in contact with them already . I am just on the fence on which unit to start with . Knowing what you know now would you start with a 2550 or go with the. Smaller zt or sc model .
Ok take a survey of what size stumps you will be doing and what type of access you need to get to them
What do you mean by, "a year and 3 months and I'm gone"?
at the time of that video I was going to dissolve my company and fadeaway but during the last of Covid my son came to me and said he wanted to take over slowly so here I am LOL ... told him I would be with him till Im 65 and then do 1/2 days
Punky*
He drives a Cadillac xct idk the year but looks like a 15+
Don’t tell them that
What about a stump that isn't connected to the ground.
If it's big you can grind it but small cuts at a time and stop when you see it starting to move or jump ( unstable)
Im new to stump grinding. In Iowa we had a huge storm a month ago the uprooted a bunch of trees. I bought a SC 252. This is just a side business so I want to be efficient but make some money how big of a stump or root ball should I not tackle with the SC 252
@@mustangrebuilder Do you have an email that I could send you of a picture of one that I was looking at. Someone was really needed my hope but I think it's too big for my machine.
@@justinbates6487 30 to 40 inch tree stump no problem (thats the actual stump the uproot will be more ) when you get larger you will be there a while but thats where you find a guy with a bigger grinder and sub it out
