    I am a regular suburban home owner who never worked in the industry. In the past I have hired a stump grinding machine to do the work. The hire company charges by the half day period but that includes the moment it is loaded onto my trailer and unloaded after I return the grinder to their premises. Their charges are $200 for half a day. Last time I needed stumps ground, I decided to get a quote from a tradesman who does it for a living.. The contractor arrived with an assistant and what would have taken me at least 3 hours work, they had done in an hour and were cheaper than me hiring the stump grinder from the hire shop.

    I stumbled across your video because I'm renting a stump grinder for the weekend, tight budget and fierce independence force most of my DIY. Not to mention I enjoy it. All that to say, your video is awesome. I learned a ton, and I'd gladly work for you anytime. You're my kind of people.

    Great video! My late father had his own tree removal buisness and he was the most level headed and genuine man I have ever met. You very much reminded me of him in this video,I kinda teared up at the end when you said "Always learn something new","Compliment people" and "Don't be an asshole". Sorry to sound corny but this video made my day,almost like my father was speaking through you to me. Thanks for the video and you have a new subscriber!

    Video #2 that I've watched and again thank you, I thought I was the only one who set the depth way out in front of the stump, watched way to many videos of guys engaging 1/4 or half the cutter wheel then bitching about the machine. I do run a full service tree care company but am the only one to run the stumper. Thank you again, good information.

    This is how I was taught to do stumps. Starting a bit further back and setting your depth early is key to doing it successfully. I've got a few thousand hours on stump grinding and all this info applies to even doing massive stumps with a smaller stump grinder.

    The public servant attitude shows.
    Was grinding for 25 plus years on my off day from my 24 hour shifts with the LRFD.
    Massive heart attack has me out to pasture now. I did get the old Levco fuel filter changed and tank cleaned and the hole brazed in the tank and finally bled and ground five pretty big stumps for my neighbor who has helped me out when needed.
    Perhaps I can hit it little more but haft to improve a lot more. The one thing know to do after years of daylight to dark grinding. I tried employees also. Best just me as well. A lot of up keep and proper bite take longer but so much easier on the stump grinders as you have mentioned. Levco Doug.

    Good day sir, a few days ago I hired a tree service company to remove a tree from my backyard. The tree service guy hired another guy to remove the tree stump that was left. I was very interested in the machine, I had never seen one and I had never seen how to remove a stump with a stump grinder. I asked him a bunch of questions and after he left I told my wife "that's what I wanna do, I want to have a stump grinding business". She is being very supportive and I'm super exited. I am still developing some sort of business plan and I look forward to your very helpful stump grinding business videos. I'm currently active duty and would like to get into this part time maybe do residential. My goal is to go from part time to full time and split up the residential jobs with the private company jobs. Kind of what you are doing. PLEASE keep up your videos. my wife and I look forward to what you have to say about your experience, success & failures. what not to do that kind of stuff. I hear you on the ear protection. I build fences and I"m curious about stump grinding as well. I love my 3M headphones with bluetooth. I listen to podcasts all day and learn while I work and absolutely love it. So it's great for me to see another guy who does the same.

I'll be subscribing when I get done this comment and looking for the winning friends and Influencing people book. Keep up the great work.

    Awesome video and the best explanation on proper stump grinding that I have seen in a UA-cam video. I have ground thousands of stumps and I learned over time to do exactly what you recommend starting farther away and working your way in. I currently run a Rayco RG45 wheeled machine and I really like it.

    How many hours do you have on that bandit zt1844 now? Really been debating on it for a start up unit . Would it be worthwhile to bump up to carlton 5014 or rayco rg40?

    • @mustangrebuilder
      @mustangrebuilder  4 роки тому +1

      I have over 600 hrs on her , get the 38hp and not the 27hp ..the new Bandit now has a bigger sweep and updated belt adjustment system. ? first what type of area are you grinding in City or spread out yards with bigger gates? Thats why I have two machines the Zt1844 goes through a 30 inch gate and nobody can compete with me and I charge more on those jobs.
