I'm not in the stump grinding business (yet, but I bought an entry level 16Hp machine that needs a few parts, and we'll see where that takes me) but God does work in ways we do not see coming. I had a job last week that I was regretting taking on due to my understanding of the situation and how I could see the day unfolding. But it is what it is and I was praying for the best outcome.
When I got to site, the client had other tasks he wanted to add to the job and the underlying circumstances had changed in such a fashion, that the work was a pleasure to perform, rather than the impending pain in the butt that I had envisioned. So amen, and thank you.
It happens to me often and then my son turns to me and says see Dad it wasn't that bad
I own a tree service and grind my own stumps. The entire reason I hate stump grinding is because of a "redo" because of a little root that I might have missed. What do I do though? I grit my teeth, go back, regrind, and make the customer happy. That's why I'm booked 3 months out year round.
Thank you for all of the videos!
Totally agree! Keep those customers happy!
Great Advice As Always. Thank You
great advice mate thank you so much
Appreciate your videos. Glad you acknowledged what’s really going through your head as you are back grinding roots kinda in the area of the original stump you ground. But a happy customer is two more in the future. Thanks and God Bless!!!?
Always good stuff. My hat and shirt designs are in the works. As soon as they come out 1 of each is headed to you. Thanks for all you do!!
here for my Sunday class. thank you teacher.
Very informative. Thanks for the heads up on this kind of stuff that will happen. Keep grindin and take care
Thanks so much for that advice.. That's awesome..
Your comment good news travels fast, bad news travels faster.......I have staked my career on this and after 35 years I no longer advertise. Just as busy as I ever was from repeat customers and referrals. Good to see work ethic is still alive and well. God bless you, brother.
Now that made my day send info to mustangrebuilder@gmail.com and I will send you one of my stickers
I am going to get an sg 40 to start off with. Thank for all you do.
Man, I was not expecting that much from you. I was just happy to share a little something with you. Anyhow, I'm very happy that you appreciate that much.
Call back sucks, but as you said, this is a place where you make your reputation! So you gotta go back. Sometimes, if this is extra work, you can get some extra money and still make your customer happy. One thing very important when working on big stumps is to give clear information to what you'll be doing for the price you said. This way, we manage expectation vs price.
Great Video and some great info also! I had a redo a few months ago on a huge maple and pine. With all of chips I had two high spots. Home owner called me to complain so I went back with a positive attitude and fixed the issue and grabbed some surface roots also he did not see but I did. Great to see big booty Judy again! Thanks for sharing and grind on!
Great advice!!
I appreciate every video you post! First time this year I had to do a re-grind, and it was due to the stump being so large, I missed a 5-6" section that took 60 seconds to clear for them.
I tell all my customers that I have a grinding guarantee. It seems to help sell jobs. Thanks for everything you do Adam!
Thank you
Always helpful to have open communication with others in your industry. We pass jobs off of each other when needed, and it works well for all ofbus
Great video as always! I've had a few "call backs' for stumps I did not grind. We had back to back hurricanes in 2020 and had a lot of out of town guys here working. When I asked if they called the guy who ground their stump, I'm told the number no longer works. So, I make sure and tell new customers ALL stump grinders can miss roots or not get deep enough, but I will come back free of charge
I love your tips videos and ‘mafia’ comments and stickers. Taking care of customers is why you’re so successful! Thanks
Thanks so much!
Great that you talk about it. Right on a spot! I've decided to do one free recall about a year ago and I tell that to costumers. Gives me piece of mind when I leave and they won't be pissed if find root here and there. If I don't do clean up it's very easy to miss a spot.
My boss used to say "the customer is always right, even when they are wrong"
Thanks Adam. good ideas about having a few fellow stump grinding felons in the address book to do things like cut the stumps lower and haul off the wood or debris.
And doing regrinds for a tree company can be a raw deal. The tree guy tells you to just cut the stump and not the roots because the tree guys wants the cheapest price from you. But then that same tree guy will pass the responsibility buck to you and expect you to go back and do the roots for free when the customer calls him to complain (a bit aggravating).
Always good content. Thanks for sharing. I hope to meet you someday. God bless.
Amen
Have watched many of your videos. Although I’ve been grinding stumps for 12 years I always find your videos interesting, informative and useful. I’m always up for learning something from others. Thanks you for sharing your expertise and humor with us rookies.
Great to hear!
Thank you for your videos. I have learned a lot from you. I have a small stump grinding company & I am thankful for your knowledge. I can tell that you are a really good guy.
You are so welcome!
Excellent info. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Had my first redo this morning.
I missed a couple roots. Only took about 15 minutes to fix.
Very happy customer.
Great job!
Good info! That’s how I deal with call back’s also
Exactly!
Great advice Brother!!!
Appreciate it!
Haha, you jinxed me. Had first call back on a high root 30 feet away from stump. Ironically it was a re-grind behind a gypsy tree contactor. No big deal. Treated him well, handled the root for free. The cost of a good name is worth the investment.
Another great video. Thank you and God bless. I got my stickers also. Appreciate you
Awesome! Thank you!
Adam, solid sound advice as always. I always mention when finished grinding that if we miss a spot (usually debris hides it) or we just missed it, we’ll return to touch up free as part of the job. Absolutely return to touch up as you mentioned, who does that? Well we do and that’s the best form on advertising is customer referral. My 2 sons are taking over now & they’ve adopted this strategy. It works, thanks for the vid & hope hip’s coming along. Fran
thanks brother
Everything happens for a reason my brother!!
Love the videos man. Keep em comin. I have been doing stumps now since 2004. Been down the "Call Back" road a few times. I charge the same as you and grind the same as you do. My husband has now learned to do the same. Watching your videos sometimes after work makes me glad I am not alone in the way we think about this kind of work. Thanks for posting. We really enjoy watching. How do we send a shirt to you? Thanks, Rebecca and Brian Knight North Central Washington

Welcome aboard!
I did a decent stump job this past weekend. The guy I was working for told me that the neighbor need it a stump done. I met with her it was a 28" round red oak 4' out of the ground. I was there I told her I would cut it down grind it and haul away all the chips and wood for a $150 She look at me like I was out of my mind. Needless to say I walked away. I'm not selling myself short.

Hell lady lost an opportunity that was a good deal for her.
Godfather that was another great one and that video you just did helped me allot and I can't wait to o start my business! As always I appreciate and am grateful for you, thankyou! Grind On!
You got this!
Hard to swallow pill sometimes, that we should all learn to take.
Yeah why argue with the costumer most of the time it's faster to just do it and be done with it and keep them happy.
Volume needs incresed
Great videos very informative many thanks from England
Working on it
Got a question so you charge one or two ways to stump grind with an actual stump grinder, Now from a great mind from somebody that does stump grinding for a living how would you go about charging for stump grinding with a skid steer attachment, like the fecon stumpex?
This style attachment is used in Europe and is slow but has it's place ... time is money and a 36hp stump grinder would be at least 2 to 3 xs faster
I'm 69 years old in good health and thinking about getting into the business I would like to get a bandit SG40 never did the work before do you think it's to much for a fellow my age. Thanks and I enjoy the videos.
The sg40 will be easy for you to handle and here's a tip find someone with a big machine to give the real big ones to for a slight commission and you do all the medium and small ones with no stress to you
How do you know when to have a job market for wires pipes utilities?
Always walk around the house and see where the utilities connect to the house and when you are unsure call
Whats your trailer rated for? I can't seem to find a decent single axle that will comfortably haul my stump grinder.
Has a 5200 lb axle , tilt deck made by maxey and it was about $2500
I'm in Edmond been wanting to connect for awhile now. How do I find ya!!!

@@charliemoore7014 I like tires but if you are in a muddy or wetland then I like tracks
@@mustangrebuilder I have an sg 40 but just thinking later on down the road if I were to get a bigger machine but don't want to get one that's to wide to get through gates because that becomes an issue alot that's why got the sg 40
