    "From ghoulies and ghosties, and long legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night, good Lord deliver us." I found this saying a few years ago when I was making Halloween book in a scrapbooking class. I decided to use Halloween poetry and sayings in the book instead of photographs. Gorgeous WIPs. Hi Brenda! Once again, I sooo enjoyed viewing all your amazingly beautiful WIPS. Thanks for the tip about how you divide up your varigated thread into sections and stitch one section at a time. I want to still use the loop start method. I have been deciding over the last year what type of patterns I really want to choose to stitch, as the only room I have to hang them will be over my bed as I live in a small seniors apt. I have decided on more colourful ones like Autumn Towne and The Magic Tree. I love stitching houses and will stick with that theme! Thanks again and look fwd to your next video! Greetings 🇨🇦

    A whole new world I didn't know existed! Very interesting. I'm curious as to why a project isn't finished before moving on to the next. Just get tired of it and want variety? Years ago I did some simple cross stitch and crewel. Enjoyed it but didn't know what to do with it when I was finished. :-) Thanks for sharing your work and world.

      Thank You Lynne! For me it is just liking a variety of different things to work on. I can switch from complicated ones to easy ones depending on how I am feeling. I have stitching friends who only work on one piece at a time until it is finished. Just personal preference :) I bet your pieces were beautiful!

    I am amazed and delighted to see your lovely WIP parade of beautiful stitching😊! Thank you for sharing your pieces in progress and the tip of using variegated DMC to its best advantage of color in stitching. I recently purchased a Christmas red/green/white DMC thread to stitch some ornaments for my tree. Can’t wait to see how they turn out! One question, I see something on the q-snap protecting your linen when you snap on the plastic edging. What is that material you use for protection? Have a great time stitching up to Christmas 🎄

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  2 роки тому +1

      Thank You Nancy!! I bet your ornaments will be gorgeous! I sometimes use a thin batting called "warm and natural" and sometimes I just use regular felt. Sometimes I need it to protect the stitching under the clip, but usually I need it because the clip is old and stretched out and not as tight as it used to be :)

    I'm catching up on FlossTube and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your WIP parade! Thanks for sharing how you've been utilizing your variegated DMC on the 56 count linen. Since I know you also like Sulky threads, have you tried using their 30 wt cotton on 56 ct linen? I've used it successfully on 46 ct linen, but haven't tried it on 56 ct yet.

    • @Handworkmaniac

    I have returned back to cross stitch after 15 years. I am wondering why stitchers have so MANY works in progress going? Since May l have started and finished 9 projects with 2 that l am working on now that are a little longer term that should be finished soon. I wonder when l will fall through the rabbit whole? Just wondering how that happens

    • @suzannecamp1777
      @suzannecamp1777 2 роки тому

      Also you have some beautiful stitching going

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  2 роки тому

      Thank You Suzanne! LOL, well, I am not sure how I fell down that rabbit hole, or how it happened, lol!!! I think it may have started when I started taking classes through my local EGA chapter. When the teacher comes to town, you have to take the class while she is there, which means starting another project :) And then I had really complicated projects that I could only work on in the morning when I was fresh, for small amounts of time. So I needed easier ones to work on at night. Then I had huge projects that I could only work on for a few months and then I needed a break, lol. I find I really like the variety of stitching on several different sizes, types, complication level, and color schemes all at the same time.

    Hi Brenda, my name is Marion. Boy, I'm impressed with all of your projects, but I especially love the Kingdom of Books. You say in your notes that you are doing it on 18 count Aida. Are you doing it with one thread or two. The colours and stitching are fabulous!!! Thanks for any info.

      Thank You Marion! I am using 2 strands of floss on mine. I prefer 2 strands on 18ct, I like the denser coverage :)

    Where do I find how to do specialty stitches?

    • @Handworkmaniac

      Hello! If you know the name of the stitch you can do a UA-cam search for it and find a video or tutorial on how to do it. Or you can do a search on the internet for instructions. There are some needlework books that teach how to do a collection of embroidery stitches. Or you can stitch a chart that has some specialty stitches in it, most charts will give you written instructions and diagrams on how to do the stitches on them :)

    Brenda, what is the name of the circular piece, over your head, behind you? I’m fascinated with that one! 💗

      Hi Barbara! The one with the buildings on it? That one is "Medieval Town Mandala" by Chatelaine :)

    Hi there! I am local to the SLC area and just started stitching a few months ago. Do you know of any local groups or classes where I could go/sign up for to improve my skills and/or get tips and tricks?

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Christina! And welcome to the stitching community! I know there is a local chapter of EGA in Salt Lake City, if you go to the EGA (Embroidery Guild of America) website you can find contact information for them. I used to attend several years ago, but could not keep it up after I started working full time. The other guild I used to belong to disbanded, so they are not around anymore. The stitching store "Craft Center of Fine Stitchery" in Salt Lake is a great store, and might have some groups who meet there regularly to stitch, you should ask them.
      I don't know of any other groups right now :)

    I’m new to your channel and love your projects. How much time do you devote to stitching daily and do you just work on one project a day?

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Betsy! I work full-time Monday-Friday and usually stitch 4-5 hours every evening. And then I do all my household chores and yardwork on Saturday mornings and sit down to stitch about 1:00pm until bedtime. And then I usually get a few hours in on Sunday nights after my Church responsibilities are over.
      I usually have a daily 30 piece (first 30 minutes of my stitching every day on that piece), and then I usually work on one or two pieces after that until it is time to go to bed. I usually work on about 10 different pieces a week :)

      I love your program. You are very down to earth and I love that you don’t show off haul on every show. Not all of us can afford haul. Right now I have been blind in my left eye for 3 months so I can only do very little stitching up close which I just got back too about a week ago. I miss my daily stitching but I’m hoping a future surgery will bring my sight back. In the meantime, I enjoy your show.

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  2 роки тому +1

      Yay!!! Just go slow and give your brain time to adjust to it. It might take a project or two before you brain is comfortable with seeing 2 threads as one stitch. And if you really don't like it, then use 18 ct and enjoy it!! :)
