    You are making such good progress on A Stitcher’s Shelf! It’s so pretty! I like the idea of a 10x10 a day. I started mine (inspired by you) on my first Mania on May 1st last year. I’ve only done 60 x 60 so far...learning a LOT of what not to do. I’m determined, even without pattern keeper, to keep at it! I finally made a grid and now parking threads and it’s getting easier! I love seeing all your progress on all your beautiful projects! I have finished all my months for the Sam Sarah Calendar, and 4 of the days and the extra pictures for most of the months! Really enjoying my progress there with my early morning stitching! My biggest finish is an amazing, difficult mostly full coverage of Yoda for my daughter that turned out stunning! Now I’ll have more time for the Shelf!! Hope you and your family have a very blessed Easter!!

      Thank You Susan!! I am so glad you are still moving along on Stitchers Shelf! I have learned so much along the way as well :) I think we all kind of tweak the way we do full coverage to fit what works best for us. Wow, you are flying along on the calendar!!! I loved working on that one, so easy to carry that one around and work on it wherever I was. And your Yoda pieces sounds gorgeous!!

    Recent new subscriber to your channel. I also just recently discovered flosstube videos and am loving them. I'm impressed that you work on that many different projects each month, and that you get so much done. I'm just getting back into cross stitch after a several year break and can't seem to remember why I stopped. I love cross stitch and watching the picture grow. Thank you for sharing your projects and processes with us!!!!

    I always enjoy your progress updates. Your pieces are all coming along beautifully! It was funny to hear your method with the Dimensions Gold full coverages; I follow the same process! I love my highlighters even though I have moved my full coverages to Pattern Keeper. Thanks for sharing your lovely work. It is always hard for me to decide which one is my favorite. Andrew is doing a great job as well. 😊

THANK you for having introduced us to Andrew in your last video! I reached out to him on a project, and he was able to deliver an end product that was beyond my expectations. Omg, you really accomplish plenty in your beautiful stitching. Wow. I am amazed at how much you do. The HAED pieces are huge and very time consuming. You are quite an accomplisher.
    I have some nice cross stitch patterns, quite a few in fact. I am presently knitting scarves, doing some hand piecing of hexi’s to appliqué to a background for my kitchen furniture piece.
    Also, doing some Halloween project bags and Halloween quilts.
    Just ordered some Tula Pink fabrics to make handbags for my daughters for Christmas.
    Need to work on my cross stitch pieces soon.
    We stitchers sure do have lots to do all the time.

    Hi my friend! Seems like I do a better job commenting on floss tube when I’m at the River House 😄
    I’ve been doing the exact same organization for my Dimensions Kit too. The only thing that still throws me at times is when I move from one copied pattern to another, after I’ve finished that section. It’s so easy for me to get thrown off and lose my place, especially since it’s not a geometrical pattern. I wish they had the dimensions kits on pattern keeper!
    See you when I get home! 💕💕💕

    Brenda! You know me so well! I was waiting patiently wondering if this was a week you'd post your Stitching Shelf and it was!!!! Yippee! I had a smile the whole time and yours is looking fabulous! I just passed a couple of squares that look like a hidden parrot of some kind up near the top of the teal book top (next to Sweet Life). See if that's what it looks like to you. There is white and red near the top of the head. I see the eye and the curved beak but the body is rather sketchy with that purple design that seems to trail from the left to right??? Is it part of the book or separate sitting on a vine stem or something. Would love to hear your take on it. Thanks so much for your words of praise and encouragement. I'm looking forward to stitching the ship on the back of one of the books I'm stitching. They are the color of methiolate that the pediatrician used to draw a mouse or bunny on our arms as little children with, using a cotton swab, then asking where we wanted them to get their shot. Do you remember that stuff I think it was outlawed way in the past but I remember it. It was used on scrapes and scuffs we had falling down on unprotected knees. The black lacy fan is on the bottom of them too and the rest of the jar of little spools will be in this page as well. Would love your input to see if it's what you see too.
    So glad you shared! The videos just get better and better with your son's expertise! Loved the insets - - -YOUR FAIRY VILLIAGE! Wow is it ever looking great! It's definitely the season for it to thrive. What a happy day!

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому

      Hi Lilia!!! As usual I am answering your comments backwards, lol!! Yes, I love that parrot, and the beautiful purple butterfly that is down and to the left of the parrot. Can't wait to see your jar of spools and how it looks. I will take a picture of that part of my poster sized print of the artwork and email it to you :) I sooo remember methiolate. My dad loved to be outside exploring the desert on the weekends. We lived in Green River, UT for several years when I was young and we explored the desert in a jeep every weekend. We always stopped at old abandoned homesteads and mines, and explored. Metholiate was in the small first aid kit in the Jeep, and if we scraped ourselves on anything made of rusty metal my dad got it out and painted the scrape and then did just what you said and drew a tail, lol.

    As I was watching I was wondering when people start getting ready for Maynia and then you mentioned it. This will be my first time doing it and trying to figure out what will work best for me as just decided to go visit my mother in law for a week at the beginning of the month. Nice challenge to work around. Super appreciate your videos and Andrew’s editing is awesome!

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому

      Thank You Lourdes! I try to kind of start gathering things for Maynia starting in January. But mostly all I do is think about patterns I might want to do. It takes until April for me to get serious about making final decisions about patterns, and then start looking to see what threads and fabrics I need. And then to take the time to get them in bags and organized for stitching is always the latter half of April. I should start on that earlier!!! LOL. I will tell Andrew you said so. And yes, visiting your mother-in-law for the first week of May will be a challenge, but a fun one!!

    I wondered how Sulky would work on 40 count. Is it tight? I am using it on 36 count right now and really like it. I guess I should try it on 40. Your projects always inspire me. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Margo! I don't think it is too tight on 40 ct, but I like it on 36 ct as well. Yes, you should try it and see what you think :)

      Thank You!!! My friends and I are having a great debate on whether it is a bear or a sloth, lol. And one viewer suggested it might be a possum! LOL I guess I should ask the designer :)

      Thank You Susan! For the most part, yes. I put the floss in floss-away bags, on a ring. And I have a working copy of the chart, and use a highlighter if I keep losing my place. And all the floss, pattern, anything that goes with the chart are all kept in one project bag.

      Hi Becky! I had a viewer tell me that, that is so funny! Apparently you can still buy them on Amazon as hair curlers, lol. I wore the pink sponge curlers in the 70s, grin.

    So I'm French and we also have that "à gogo" expression, and it does mean "in abundance." It's just a really fun way to say it (it's for the sake of the pronunciation I think 😂).

    So many beautiful wips, well done. I like the sulky you've chosen for the long dog samplers. When using the varigated sulky thread do you stitch each cross one at a time or does it depend on the effect you're after? x

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Melissa! I always do one x at a time because I love having the most color variation possible. But some people go across in a row and then finish the x when they come back, it just creates a more "tweedy" look with less color variation. Totally your own preference :)

    Thanks so much! So much info and beautiful projects. Question - when buying fabric, how do you know if it will be the stiffer fabric or softer?

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому

      Thank You Lana! That is a great question. In general, if the fabric is made by Zweigart it is the softer fabric. A fabric dyer should always be able to tell you what base fabric they use if you ask them. Weeks Dye Works fabric used a stiffer base fabric for years, for the fabric they dye and sell. So you just knew that if it was made by Weeks Dye Works it would be the stiffer fabric. But in the last year or so Weeks Dye Works started using Zweigart base fabric for some of their dyed fabric. So now it is a little harder to tell if you are ordering online. I noticed on the 123stitch website that the listing for each of their Weeks Dye Works fabrics now says whether it is Zweigart base or not. But I don't know if all online stores are doing that.

    Hello, I am a new subscriber and really enjoy your WIPs. I wonder how do you stitch your blocks at the shelf of Aimee Stewart? With feathering ?thank you

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому

      Hi Ellen!! I know that feathering, or doing a zig zag pattern along the edges of each block helps there not be noticeable lines in the finished product. But my daughter finished her Faerie Tales HAED and I could not see the lines unless I tried really hard to catch the light just right. So I decided not to worry about it and just stitch the blocks as is. I know a lot of people prefer the diagonal parking method because it causes less lines.

    Love your videos - quick question. Where do you put your pattern while your stitching

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому +1

      Thank You Vicky! If I am working from a paper pattern I always make a working copy and then fold it up so that it just shows the part I am working on. Then I use a needleminder magnet and attach it to my fabric right next to where I am stitching. If I am using a pattern on PatterKeeper on my tablet, I have my tablet on a Tablet Stand and I position the screen at eye height, just to the right of my stitching. I feel like I can stitch faster and easier if the pattern is near where I am stitching :)

    Morning
    I have a Riolis kit and the pattern directions is a large chart and colored. How do you follow that type of chart? If I make a working copy it would only be black and white.
    Barbara B

    • @Handworkmaniac
      @Handworkmaniac  3 роки тому

      Hi Barbara!!! I have a small color inkjet printer/copier at home. So when I have a chart like that I just fold it up and copy the part I am working on. Maybe you could go to a copy store and get color copies made of all the different sections. Also, sometimes a color chart uses a unique symbol with each color, so even if you copy it in black and white you could still tell what color each symbol should be. Good luck! Riolis charts are gorgeous!
