  • My good buddy Randall and I head out to our local desert ( Johnson Valley OHV ) for our first real off road test on-board our new KTM 790R Adventure Bikes. The day left us more than impressed with these incredible new machines! Check out the video and let us know what you think. Thank you, and stay tuned for more.

    Enjoyed every second of it, trail looked nice and tough. Thanks for going thru the bikes. I can just cope with You that this machine is awsome with impressive set up from floor.

    Awesome, thanks for the mods update. My maiden voyage was two weeks ago - Out the garage two hr ride to Hammertown for 1st time to watch the utv races, way to break her in. Heated grips? I'm waiting for the moment I wish I had them. Thanks again for putting the time in, helps the rest of us out with direction.

      No problem! Lots of videos to come. I wanted to ride out and catch king of the hammers too, but didn't have a chance. I'm sure that was a good ride. Heated grips, fricken love em, haha

    You know where Boone Rd intersects with Barnes Rd? I'm Brian Barnes and my grandad made that road and many around it leading to Means Dry Lake. See the quail everywhere out there? I watched their ancestors start in an incubator in my Grandpa's garage in the 1970s. Grandpa started his own invasive species. 😃 Haven't been out there in over 20 years. Thanks for jogging the memories! I love Johnson Valley!

    Have one sitting in the garage waiting for the glacier in my part of the world to melt. Nice to see that the bike can do so much more than I can. Almost afraid it’ll feel bored. But I won’t 🤨.

    How heavy is it? Can you pick it if it falls? Debating between 790 and 690 for mostly desert and sand dunes driving.

    • @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel
      @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel  4 роки тому

      460, I believe wet weight. Pretty easy to pick up due to the low center of gravity. However I've not laid it down, yet!

    @theoffroadadventurechannel another great vid with some epic off-road footage taking those KTM’s into the rugged stuff! Definitely check out the Motoz Tractionator H/T or Rally version for that deep sandy stuff. They’re some of the most aggressive DOT tires I’ve ever run and they do great on the pavement too! Keep the vids rolling!

    Already have the Akra muffler with the DB killer removed. Been thinking about the decat! Seems worth the possible running lean risk. What do you think? Great video.

    Great video! What setiing did you use in the Rallye mode? One can select between 1 to 9. My guess is 2 or 3. What brand are the folding mirrors? Did not get the name. Thank you!

  • @superdukerandy

    Since they're both decatted, which one is louder? Which one sounds better etc. Does the Arrow mid pipe fit the Akra? Is that what we're seeing here?

    • @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel
      @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel  4 роки тому +1

      Arrow de cat fits the Akra, its quieter due to the DB killer. I'm running my Arrow with it removed. Both sound good, mines definitely louder.

  • @pass1985
    @pass1985 4 роки тому +1

    How are the decats doing? I would like to get one for mine, especially because it’s very hot here (above 40 regularly) and I would like to do away with some of the heat. Did you also remap?

    • @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel
      @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel  4 роки тому +2

      Luca Passone Haven’t re-mapped yet but I will, and when I do I’ll do an update about it. Having said that, no issues at all.

      @@TheOffRoadAdventureChannel That's good to know, on forums I find very conflicting information, about making the mixture even leaner and making the engine run very hot.

      I like it, but depending on the level of comfort your looking for it's hard to say. Its minimalist, but that's all I was looking for.

    great vid. love seeing someone really ride the bike. suggestion: i recommend that you wear the garmin inreach mini on your body versus on the bike. for me, that's the main benefit of the size of the inreach mini: wearing it on me. i crashed once and separated from the bike. luckily, i just started wearing the spot (inreach now) on my body, instead of on the bike. i triggered the sos and got rescued, with trip to the hospital. another crash, 50 yards separated me and the motorcycle. bad crash -two weeks in the hospital. i know of other riders who separated from bike. something to consider. even if bike isn't too far from you, you may be too injured to crawl to it -as i was in the bad crash. they're great devices though. probably, saved my life.

    What bar risers, if any, are you guys running on your bikes? And what height?

    • @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel
      @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel  4 роки тому

      I have RoxRisers. 1" up and 1" forward. Randall isn't running any, but the Scott's damper he has I believe moves it up an inch or so.

    G'day mate, great video, the 790 R is awesome. With your rear suspension and front forks have you adjusted the settings on them? I might be wrong but did you say heavy 450's @ 06:48?

      I'm 5'11 and have the 790 Adventure R and it's fine for me. I've had dirt bikes that were taller than this one. I'm sure you'll be fine with the height unless it's your very first bike. If so just practice a bit before you do what these guys are doing, :)
