I feel very fortunate to live in an area with many Chinese and Indian folks just outside of Atlanta. So much great food. I look for little old ladies eating and someone cutting fresh vegetables in the dining room. That has never failed me
When you know, you know. Some of my best spots are those where the dining area is sorta small, because the rest of the spot is mostly kitchen. The food is amazing.
I find doing this with an air fryer 320* at 30 mins so good and so easy to make.
It's so simple and delicious. Literally just marinate overnight and bake while basting occasionally.
Definitely the best bbq meat next to siu yok
I have always wanted to make this & this makes it sound so easy & straightforward.
you can marinate it for 1-3 days. i do mine for 3 days then smoke it. such a great recipe
I grew up in a town where I could find this in 5 or more different places, just in town . Never driving more than 20-30 minutes to get to any of them. I moved. Now I haven’t t found it in ten years. I just watched your other chow mein video and now this. Oh my god, yes! Let’s preserve these Chinese recipes.
Im from the netherlands and i love to make Char siu and other chinese recepies so for sure im subscribed and hit the notification keep it up great work
Any kind of sticky Asian BBQ like this is amazing in craving some now
Oh my goodness I used to eat this as a kid and didn’t know what it was called. Thank you so much for posting this recipe.
Omg thank you! Recently I tried a pre made package so I can use it on my fried rice. And omg it smelled rotten, not edible. Home made sounds the right way 💪
Finally! A detailed recipe I can try! Randy, I have subscribed but can't find the clips with the complete cooking video with details. In some videos it is implied they exist, and others are not included. 💌
In the Chinese buffet I work at, we cook the meat in a huge wock boiling it in water, spices and red food coloring. We drain it, and put it in the fridge over night. We deep fry it in a fryer, and then toss it in a regular sized wock, full flame with oil and the red bbq sauce.
Learned to love char siu growing up in HI. I always used the packaged marinade but this video inspired me to try it home-made. Can't wait to try it! Thank you 😊
Aloha, that’s how my grandma would make it too. Still so ono
I made it like that too in Hawaii. I make it more like this video now. A little different. I use shoyu, Chinese cooking wine, aniseed, garlic and ginger along with what was mentioned here. My favorite way to cook it is sous vide overnight and broil. Has the best flavor and takes less time to marinate because it cooks in its own juices. I also bake like this video or smoke it in my smoker. Disagree with it getting tough with a longer marinade. I marinate for up to three days. The dad here and I are about the same age so we both have been making it for a long time. Aloha auinala from Washington 🤙
Know your recipe, just like got a treasure box. This is my most fav food. Thank you
This is my favorite Chinese dish🤤
Cha siu bun is my second favorite🤤🤤
Thanks for the quality contents! I really like your short videos👍👍
Beautifully made🙏🏼
There is no substitute for this!!
Your dad should have his own cooking show on tv
i absolutely love bbq pork bao with a bit of the marinade baked into the middle
Delicious, thanks🥰!

Hi Mr. Lau and Son. Thank you for sharing your recipes and cooking techniques to us. I am from the Philippines 🇵🇭 and I am wondering if you have a recipe to share in making Steamed Chicken Feet. When you go to Chinese restaurants here, it is usually on the dimsum portion of the menu. I tried making it at home several times but it always end up tasting like Chicken Feet Adobo 😅 Hope you can share your recipe if you have one. Thank you in advance 🙏
Lovely! Will definitely be trying this🙂
By far my favorite Asian meal!!! Thanks for the magic!
this looks like the most delicious thing I've ever seen
My favourite. I love char siu pork. I really need to try making it for myself.
I made this exact recipe from your website it turned out delicious follows all the steps to the T!
i personally like the one without food coloring, that natural beautiful charred color 😋

This looks so delicious
This is the BEST meat in Chinese food. Thanks for sharing.
I love how you kept pops recipe...is the honey marinade the trick?
I like the without. Unless it's made with ground up scale insect dye E120 or Natural Red 4.
I subscribed and I'm going to make that recipe tomorrow
Gonna try this
What if kashmiri chili powder was added to make the meat have more of a red color? Would it change the flavor significantly? I'm just trying to avoid food dyes.
Looks delicious, but I have to ask. Why would marinating over 24 hours make the meat tough?
This looks legit. I'm subbing
Can this be done with rib meat? Where can one buy 5 spice mix?
This is so good. I’ve been using Daddy Lau’s recipe for a while now and it has never failed me. Love It! 🙏🏿🫶🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
So going to make thank you for sharing the recipe, But I'm gonna try one thing different I'm going to make the sauce slice my pork and put it in a crock pot
I can’t wait to go shopping to get my supplies😊

I love your dad, reminds me of my kungkung!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. This is then kind of cooling I like to do...authentic
Used to work at a local Chinese restaurant in high school always got me a order of these on the way out so good
Oh wow! Yum!
Can we get the whole recipe/process?
In the philippines the red color would either come from cooking a specific brand of soy sauce or from saltpeter.
I had this for the first time the other week and it blew me away. Some of the best barbecue I’ve had to date.
Daddy got it goin on! 🧐👍🏼
The boneless ribs recipe at the fast food place!!
As a chinese person, it is amazingly delicious.
My favorite
Just a small clarification: you say barbeque pork. Does that mean I can cook this over a wood-fired grill, and have good results?
Yes, sometimes it's better, just keep it off direct flame or you'll burn the sugars.
My uncle makes this stuff and it’s amazing
Damn that looks good.
Could you color the meat more red with some beet root powder?
So a problem i always have with chinese food is they cook with tougher cuts but don’t roast it so its just always chewy. Will this be tender?
Could we get a sauce recipe? I love bbq pork.
Yummy 😋
Love it 🤤
Is it important to put shaoxing wine
You and your dad a great
Could I do this with a 3 lb pork tenderloin and in the oven?
Something that I will never cook but I watch lol
Try that entire recipe w steak/beef
Can I fry it instead of using oven, if ever how?
Do Siu Yuk next
With white rice and a fried egg 😮 pork buns, wang lao ji & phoenix buns for dessert.
That looks damn tasty
I needa a plate literally just made me want ribb 😂😍
I apologize to your pops for my guaranteed butchering of this recipe for the first few times but I’ll get it eventually. Thanks for the video.

The most delicious wonton soups have char siu in them
My mom cabt make it this good she’s Chinese raised in Laos and she uses the packet LOL for this the season in packet
I'm allergic to pork. Can I use chicken instead?
obviously you can
Beautiful
The food coloring is essential imo 😂
Love Chinese food. I often make this hanging the meat on hooks in the oven over a pan of hot water.
YUM 😋 😋 😋
I don’t know the complete origin and history behind the recipe but when I see “BBQ”, it usually means I’m smoking or grilling it. Please try it this way. Either smoke it with oak or cherry wood (or any, I’m not telling you how to live your life) low and slow for 4-6 hours depending on temperature. Or grill over hot coals while basting every few minutes.
I was told for char shu the best cut was pork belly mind you it's in a bamboo steamer for 8 hours so...
Nice
