I have a couple of these ranch ropes and absolutely love them. I had BB cut one and make it a calf rope length and tie a new honda in place. I gave it to me farrier a young calf roper. He loves it and gets a lot of attention from the colors of the rope( brightly twisted colors) great people to talk to and deal with at this store
I understand why ropes you have on display are used for various purposes with cattle. What type of rope material would be best when, say, roping a colt in the round pen?
Dam been ropeing for since I was 10 yrs old I used same type of rope for everything 3/8 grass rope 60 foot kept in a moist burlap bag to keep stiff and it would soften as I used it I am 54 now still use same type of rope order them from mexico This guy just mind fucked this good

the wax cotton rope is fantastic that's what I got and its heavy enough to throw but flexible enough to be comfortable the ranch rope is long I think about100' but they cut mine in half and put a honda on the cut end so as to get 2 calf style ropes colors to select from are very eye pleasing

Mostly we use our ropes to chase calves and you know how that can be like chasing cats in and around the trees .. good luck and make it fun..?

Rawhide hondas are great but a tied hondo with leather aren't always that great. So a speed burner or rawhide would be my choice

Maybe a nylon because there light but also hard to throw far. But if you add coils to your loop youll be able to throw farther
