Is it just me, or is Toyota absolutely killing it with these releases of new products? The build up, and then leveraging UA-camrs the way they do…great work all around.
It's due to the CEO being an actual gear head and not a bean counter.
Looks like they fixed the front design, it will sell.
The LFA has one of the best sounding exhausts. Glad to see its not gonna be an EV. Lets just hope the V8 has a nice sound to it.
V8s sounds good regardless. It's kinda how deep do you want it.
@@ii_dynasty with turbos hindering the sound, they better tune that exhaust note properly 'cause that won't be a given. It doesn't need to sound good but amazing to live up to expectations and as they aren't going NA it is a bit worrisome. That being said glad it sin't an EV
@@jonaslechat9472 if it's anything under a 5 liter, it'll definitely need an aftermarket exhaust like the m5 to open up.
@@ii_dynasty what you do aftermarket if that power isn't enough for you is none of my business, I'm just speaking about sound here. And depending on how aggressively Lexus would be willing to tune it, it could make close to 700hp in NA form from a 4.0L (but yeah let's be serious, they're not gonna destroy reliability for power so it would be more like 500-600 hp at most but still)

Us? Are you a 1%'er? This thing is $150k+, more than likely closer to $200k when it actually hits production. I can only imagine what dealers will actually be charging for them ($250k minimum is my guess). It's an awesome car, but completely unobtanium unless you're wealthy ...
I'm not a one percenter but I would rather see lfa2's on the road than stupid g-wagons.

Other news from Japan confirmed upcoming LFA-II would be ongoing production for years to come, and the price will be around US$160K, one grade only, with no options. Gasoline engine enthusiasm Akio Toyoda ordered to build this one. I wonder if YAMAHA is working on the engine sound; the article did not say. But for sure, good times are coming, Lexus! 3:14 As a fellow enthusiast i dont want EV but i will happily take hybrid because i get both. And as of late we are getting the better end of both of those sticks, great power, great efficiency, and relatively low weight compared to earlier systems. So its a net win win. Oh and its far cheaper, and less of a supply chain strain and less devastating for the environment. Id say that's a Net x 4!

Kirk, thanks for the info, much appreciated. Given how much news we've heard about this "LFA II" I think its safe to say that something is coming out. We are getting more details about this than the new 4runner, and I keep hearing that a new 4runner is coming too. As for the LC, very pleased to hear about these improvements and a bit shocked at the trans cooler, an addition that is long overdue. Perhaps Toyota is getting more serious in taking on the Germans in the performance car space.

So I take it that the LFR will share the platform with the Lexus Electrified Sport concept we've been seeing around. Hard to image each will get their own platform to work from
I would expect it to be handled similarly to the Mercedes GT, which it seems to be modeled after in design, offering options in the $120k range, around 500 HP. up to the 900 HP. which can reach $200k

11:41 The update cycle you speak of is fantastic for upper end models where you want ppl to be able to buy a great looking car that has legs to last 10 years design wise only spending money under the skin to update. Digging deeper you realize that give you a bonus to your resale with customers knowing what they are getting into. Much like a 911 that doesn't change over time but mechanically its always updated opposed to a Korean car which is updated every 2 years making you feel you HAVE to get the new one or your behind the "trend". Ppl who understand money value that which again only matches up with higher end cars.

8:46 Kirk they have LC's sitting in the show room with this set up sans the katana still chrome and I've said i wanted it vapor chromed but haven't got back to me. I might have to seek that else where and have them wrapped maybe. But the rear diffusers, the lights all that stuff is now being done at the dealer and it looks great IMO. I think Lexus, like cadilak in 90's when old ppl were putting gold packages at the dealer after the fact now do it in house. Because oh i dunno PPL LIKE IT. 12:43 Wow they added a at oil cooler. Its the first thing to go at the track the transmission temp spikes. My take away is this mode allows for more direct control of the AT? Thats good because i find myself having denied shifts more than id like.

The trans cooling is big news! I've had issues with mine where I got overheating warnings on my dash. They probably got a lot of feedback from current owners and from the Lexus Performance Driving School, since they use LC's on that....job well done Lexus 👏

Hey Kirk, just curious what your thoughts of what the next UX will be like considering all the advancements and improvements that Lexus is pushing out lately? It's the one model that would be a perfect all around vehicle if it was put on the same platform as the NX and used a traditional automatic for its hybrid system to go head to head with the X1, Q3, & GLA. Do you think we would see some mild hybrid versions of their models?
Wouldn't get your hopes up, it's an entry level vehicle. A likely powertrain would be from Corolla Cross Hybrid which would increase HP but is not going to be any exciting.
@@Frost1758 I figured that might be the case. Looking at the LBX for Europe, that level of design will be a nice change, but I would hope they would shift some performance to their smallest US model i.e. detuned Corolla GR engine or even a beefed up 2.5L/8AT like the NX (24c/32hwy mpg) as base model. The old 2.0T engine seems to have vanished, so Lexus does need something at the bottom end that people can get excited about.

The Hakugen white color/phrase about silent silver might mean the actual paint code will be white w/ silver flake, and react to light like a movie theater screen….making it the most stunningly beautiful paint code

Is it really not possible in 2023 to put out reliable 500 HP from the 5 L NA V8 engine? for many years has this engine the same HP.

They are basically working for Toyota partially, so most likely they will have a role in this.
Toyota has owned part of Yamaha for decades and that's why they collaborate. Yamaha will definitely tune the exhaust system and co-develop the heads.
The lfa was a remarkable car, and top car enthusiast found out about it too late. Jeremy clarkson said it was the best car he ever driven, hope he can say the same for this one. Clarkson owned one too, and he has driven every supercar under the sun.
I definitely got to save a lot of coins for this next Lexus super car!
Finally some new info. Not sure how I feel about the hybrid applications though.

Better late than never. But likely out of practicality for most people. One thing I hope they get out of this project is developing a great feeling electronic steering rack, and better pedal feel for all of their vehicles

A hard earned lesson learned on the LC500 is that Americans hate runflats. Hakujin is pronounced with the "jin" pronounced as "gene". This is because the i is pronounced as the LONG e.

Why don't they put a faster engine inside an LC500 and call it a day? I know who wouldn't want another LFA but the LC500 can be a perfect car competing with the new DB12.
It's heavy already and they very much aren't gonna sacrifice the creature comforts in place of less weight with it. Along with the engine bay being pretty tight as is so they'd have to work around it just to fit turbos and etc just to add more power.
Besides, Toyota wants to have a slice of the GT3 race car pie. An LC 500 isn't exactly something that can be converted to race in that category.
