    I got 880 gore tex for winter as well as asics cumulus gore tex. I love the 880. It's just a comfortable shoe, middle of the road, nothing gimmicky but very comfortable and fits my slightly narrow foot like a glove. The asics is ok, but it feels like I have on slippers and I expend more energy pushing off than with the firmer 880. The 880 feels like it was designed for me.

    Super helpful, now that the 1080's are so super thick, I am trying these. I bought the V 11 in an outlet and like them very much. They felt great walking around Las Vegas.

    The 880 was a perfect shoe for me since my foot pronates so this really makes walking a breeze!

    I ended up getting the v13s and loved them for all the reasons you stated in this video. My body/running form really likes the traditional style shoe with a 10mm drop. I love the firmer foam in the forefoot because I can really pick up the pace when I want to. I like to go out on a run and be able to really pick up the pace if I'm feeling good and that's exactly what this shoe does. It does well on dirt roads with all of the protective rubber too. I'm super bummed with v14 updates...super squishy/bouncy foam, way less rubber, and 8mm. Why so many changes?! People who like the 880, like traditional style shoes. Leave the fancy, fad updates to the other shoes!

    Imagine you're looking for something supercomfortable, that makes long walks a breeze. I've bought them today, and they are noticeably more comfortable than my Asics GT 2000.
    I feel this will be my favorite shoe ever .

    The 880 model I purchased over 3 years ago was far better for me than this latest version. This one is higher and extended in the heel and gives a role over feel even if you are flat foot running. It is less stable and very squishy compared to the earlier version. Disappointed to not be able to get another pair of the earlier version.

      You saying the 880 is cushier than the v12?

    • @db5837
      @db5837 8 місяців тому

      @@filoIII The previous version I had and liked was the 880 v8. I've no experience with v9, v10, v11 or v12. For me, the 880 v13 feels sloppy relative to the 880 v8. I think you can get to a point where too much cushioning leads to instability.

    As someone who really got serious into running this year I would look at a different shoe. I love the 880s used them as my daily driver when I went backing through Europe. I now have the brooks Hyperion max and what a difference. My time has come down a lot. It will come down to personal preference, but I feel the 880s are best as a trainer shoe.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  8 місяців тому +3

      The 880v13 fits perfectly as you describe it. It is designed as New Balance's mid-weight daily trainer. On the other hand, the Hyperion Max is Brooks' performance trainer. The Hyperion Max is lighter and more responsive. It has a rocker geometry that gives a smoother transition from heel to toe, overall making it a faster shoe. New Balance's comparable model would be the Rebel v3. It has a similar stack height, lighter weight, and a comparable quick responsiveness.

    How does the v13 compare to the v12? Still have two pairs of v12s right now. Is the foot feel and rebound in the v13 about the same as the 12?

    I bought these and really loved them for about 30-40 miles of running and noticed the front rubber wearing down fast with in two months of every other day of training. I contacted new balance and they said to return them to the seller I have 660 and multiple other new balance shoes that literally show hardly no signs of wear after double the wear and training. maybe it was just this pair is all i can come up with.

  • @vjekoslavmarochini8711

    I tried both models. Unfortunately, none of them fit. The 880 is too narrow, I can't adjust the laces without the toebox squeezing me. While I'm walking it's still tolerable, but if I sit down, my feet start to feel tight and painful. Besides, I have to get a size bigger to be able to wear them at all. At the same time, the 1080 has an extremely comfortable upper part, but the sole has too little drop, i.e. it seems as the heel is missing, so I feel instability in my knees. Also the sole is too soft and after 10 minutes of walking I have pain in my feet and calves. I don't use sneakers for running, but for walking. Anyway, I have a feeling that the trend of over-engineering prevails today. There are many models, each one is different in some detail and a person should try 50 models to find the one that (perhaps) suits him. Likewise, models change without any great reason and it often happens that what was good on the previous model is degraded on the new one. Maybe I'm "old school", but unfortunately I don't think there are decent regular sneakers that fit a lot of people these days. IMHO, a sneakers with a 1080 upper and an 880 sole would be a good combination. Until, I returned both models.

      Hmmm. Now I'm unsure if the 880 I'm contemplating on getting would be beneficial as I'm intending to only use it primarily for daily usage at the office, occasional treadmill, and whenever I travel. I'm looking into marked down Nike Infinity 3 Reacts and Pegasus Turbo Next Nature ZoomX shoes. Best is to try I supposed.

      @@nathanielngosy Don't let my comment discourage you. In any case, you should try them. I have a slightly elevated arch on one foot, and every foot is different. What bothers me about manufacturers is that, for example, size 9.5 in one model is too big, and size 10 in another model is too small. Doesn't one manufacturer have the same foot model when developing a product?

    i bought the v13 880 last month on poshmark ( never again ). the photo showed the tongue tag with manf info was worn off but i decided to give them a try for $30,,, after i put them on,, i found the cushioning was all worn down and there is no foot support at all- they could of been thrown out instead of reselling . the seller sent them in the New Balance box and there was a receipt from a running store showing a 4/23 purchase date,,, my question,, after less than a year,, could the cushioning be completely shot?? these are not the low end new balance model and im surprised that they apparently didnt hold. up

    How does the cushion and toe box compare to the v12? I found the the v12 to be much squishier and with a wider toe box than the v11. Curious if they’re going back to firmer and with a more traditional toe box width? Thanks.

      Have to disagree. I loved the firmness. There are so many other squishy cushioned shoes out there for everyone, hardly any left for those of us who like firm, responsive foam without the crazy bouncy feeling. Sounds like I'm the minority, but I loved the v13.

    Any recommendations for posterior tibial tendon issues (due to flat-foot)?

    • @Brentford704
      @Brentford704 2 місяці тому

      Wear your 880s with an orthotic. This model is perfect for that. But I much prefer the new v14. It's D wide version runs wider in the forefront than the v13 which is actually good because the feet of flat footed people tend to spread out. I felt the D version of the v13 was still too narrow for me and my toes felt a bit squashed.
