  • My wife’s uncle picked up this super clean 1966 Ford Mustang from an older gentleman who took very good care of it apparently. Parked under a carport for the last 16 years, it will definitely need to be freshened up, so let’s see what it’ll take to put it back on the road.

    Great effort. Save this icon and let the classic as old style and original as possible. Great and rare color by the way.

      Thank you! Yea the interior was perfect, if someone snags this car up for a project, they may just have to do a little bit of metal work in a couple small areas, and that’s it.

    Make sure torque converter bolts are tight too

      Yea, I did check those thinking maybe the clunking was due to a torque converter bolt but they were good!

    Looks like the guy didn't use penzoil all the time that's a good thing

    That little 289 sounds like you've got a vacuum leak somewhere. I've had a bunch of them. I have a 68 Mustang right now that I'm working on right now with a 351 Windsor bored and stroked out to a 414.

      Nice! Sounds like you’re building a monster! As far as the vacuum leak sound on this car when I first got it going, that did seem to get better as it warmed up.

    I just bought one in the same kind of shape and m doing a will it run currently. Did everything you have done to it. Mine was last tagged in Cowlitz County in 1986. My radiator is in better shape than yours but not by much. What did you do to replace or repair it?

      @@73amx63 awesome! As far as the radiator, if I can remember correctly, I just told my uncle about it so he could decide what he wanted to do. He wasn’t sure if he was going to keep the car yet.

    Good chance the mustang moter is all gummed up inside from that penzoil I seen in the trunk won't oil made I been a mechanic 55 years and every car I worked on that used penzoil they would be all gummed up inside

      @Rustwrangler  4 місяці тому

      Good to know. Note to self- don’t use penzoil. Haha

    If he used penzoil that moter will look awful when you was under it it looked like the coner of the bellowing was busted like it bottomed out hard probably happened when the pan got dented
