Thank you for such an informative video. I especially like your ordered procedure and your calm demeanor. My first car was a 1966 Mustang convertible (not GT and only a 6) so am looking forward to the rest of this series.
Yes please share your progress, LOVE hearing that engine when it’s purring!!
Looks like a very clean and original car. Stunning color. Thanks for the insights; very interesting. Well done, it runs. Keep it alive, original and get the Mustang back on the road.
Thanks this is really helpful. Just picked up a 65 coupe and am trying to get it running and driving. Everything is there, but it's good to have a step by step. I got spark yesterday, next is fuel.
Thanks for this Steve. It would be great to see if the other systems work now that you have the engine running.
Speaking for the UK all older Fords had that type of battery clamp and very good it was too. Maybe a lip or angle iron the shape of the battery (so a rectangle) which could then be welded to the existing clamp? I think that would work well if the metal used was strong enough. i would like to see this car fully finished, I think that would be really nice. Thanks Steve, very interesting video.👍👍👍
Yes, please lots more on this lovely Mustang
Testing was well done & interesting. A '66 coup hardtop with a straight 6 cyl auto was my first car in 1973. It was already wore out with 86k miles & needed a lot of weekend work for 5 years I had it. My dad taught me a lot about how to work on cars since it was simple under the hood with lots of room to work. It got me through HS & college before selling it for at least 1 dependable drive between me & my wife.
It was no muscle car or GT but it was stylish, cool to cruise around & I loved it.
And of course it's honestly the only car I wish I still had.
I had one in the 1960s, when I was much younger. Brings great memories! Love to see more! Thanks!
Absolutely! More Mustang!
DON'T STOP NOW! Great car that needs some good TLC.
Definitely want to see you bring this Mustang all the way back!
more please of this car, would love one of these, there fairly thin on the ground in Australia....
This will be a good series!
You are so methodical and a first rate instructor/mechanic.
I had a '65 Blue convertible with white top and the pony interior. Brings back memories!
More vids on the Mustang please.. drove across country in a 66 Fastback GT... great car
I really emjoyed how u explained everything as you went along. Really loved the video
Lovely looking car - more vids on this one please!
More of this type of content I really appreciate your approach to getting them back to useful cars
Enjoyed it. Definitely continue will the Mustang project.
You never cease to amaze! What is your long term plan for all these cars? Sale of some ? Surely you can’t simply carry on collecting?
A dream car for so many people. What a beauty.
Could not get power brakes with GT package (front disc brakes were only manual) I bought one in April 1966 and still have it
UK viewer here. Pretty cool car, even cooler gadgets to help get it running...now Subscribed 👍
yes please more on the mustang
This is a timely reminder. Get those projects finished before your life expires. Don't put them off
Look forward to more vids on this gem !!!
Get it up and fully going.
Yes i would love to see this car completed and driven on the road
hell ya, great stuff thanks
I enjoyed this Video Thanks 😊
Heck yes for more videos on this car!
would be good to see the car fully finished
Yes please more of the Mustang
In my early days my family had 6 vintage mustangs and not 1 had a battery lip like that one .all had j bolts with a bracket across the battery .
good job, have you ever thought about getting a Mk111 english ford Zephyr?
The battery tray from the 67 Mustang fits like a glove and has a much better tie-down that keeps the battery securely in place- change the tray as you're ability to find a 24F with the side shoulder is only going to get worse!!!
YES!!!
Nice looking car.
Kudos to you for taking on this project. I hope there is someone there to pick up the pieces if my time ends before I get my cars back together. Built one of your starting boxes and used it to start my MGB engine after assembly. Worked great. Totally enjoy these videos and learn something every time.
We most certainly want to see all the videos of you getting this nice Ford back on the road.
Amazing content!
Can we all agree that Steve is the Jay Leno of Iowa?
Nice and methodical. Would definitely love to see more videos on this car!
more videos of this 66 Mustang please!
More, please.
Please what a beautiful car.
Im not sure which is more attractive! You or the car! -Cassie
At 12.20 there is a serious leak under the connector of your temporary fuel supply.
Great work on the 289 engine fuel check. Can you tell me where you get the remote start unit? Thank you!
More videos Steve soon
Those old battery trays are funny.. definitely let my 66 battery bounce around for a couple hundred miles before i got her tied down
It's as old as me, but I dare say it looks to be in better shape
I choke the carbie with my hand while the motor is turning over, the vacuum pulls the fuel through. Works every time.
Has extra brackets under hood ( not stock) has dual master brake resolver ( not stock) pretty sure you could only get GT package with 4 barrel or hi- po engine
Absolutely YES! I want to see you completely go through the Mustang. Show us everything! We love your videos Steve, keep up the good work.
Very nice survivor, hope its as sound as it looks! It'll be interesting to see it all, as you go thru it. Thanx !
Having a “C” code in the vin number brings into question if the car is a factory GT or made into a GT. In 1966 a factory GT would of had an “A” code or “k” code for the engine code.
Agreed, to be a true GT it would have a 289 4V - 225 horse, or the 271 horse HiPo. It doesn't have to be a GT to have those engines, but a GT did have those engines.
Yes for sure
I'm Looking for a 1966 , That was my first Car in 1972 Live in Arizona now 50 years. Looking for a Stock, not Modified I'll take a 6cyl and Automatic. 😊❤
Very nice car c code non GT car
More vids on mustang . Thank you for sharing.
Good video
more please!
Sure is a pretty machine. Yeah, I hope you go through it... thesame way you go through your British cars.
Nice car, even if it’s a GT clone (C code). I’ve always loved the color of yours and it appears to be pretty well done! I have a Candy Apple Red 66 GT convertible with a 4 speed and Pony Interior option. Yours is a Dearborn manufactured car, while mine came from San Jose. I look forward to seeing more on this car!
Hell yes i want to see more!!
Your voice is very hypnotizing! Almost every time I fall asleep mid-video.
Nice Mustang, but as a C-code car it's not a GT despite those fog lights and GT badges. Should be either A- or K-code to be a real GT.
That is one fine looking 'Stang.
You could epoxy clips to a new battery usinf JB weld I am surprised you hit the starter without first being sure you could turn it 360 by hand ! By the sound it has a tight spot and puting some lube down the spark plug holes would have been a good idea to possibly save from breaking a ring.. Your tutorial on the remote start is great but why not show the viewers that you also checked to be sure there was oil in the crankcase befor turning it over. Some yougsters at home may need tha knowledge.
I would have removed the plugs and cranked it over to build up oil pressure and put the feul line to the carb in a bucket to see what came out. Ten years is not so long if the gas was treated or maybe had no ethenol in it. With all that rust you think is stuck to the tank will start to break of you should have put a see thru filter just before the carb.
Great start up, can't wait until the rest of the "Will it Run" 😊😊😊
I actually saw a video or post where someone modified their battery with epoxy and then ground it down to look like it should. A battery is very heavy though and I’m not sure that solution would be strong enough for anything more than a show car.
So informative. Thank you! What a great find 🙌🏾
I believe only 289 D and K codes were GTs.
More videos 4 sure.
Great find Steve ! Did you find it locally or was is a long haul ? Dennis Collins missed this beauty ! Thanks Steve .
Definitely more mustang.
Good looking little mustang. A shame the owner never got to enjoy it
Nice piece of Mustang history. Glad you got the chance to save her.
What I do with batteries like that especially using smart chargers is after topping the cells off is I hook a jump pack that's not a smart jump pack and the battery charger all together. Then I'll apply ever increasing loads with the charger unhooked and repeat. The reconditioning function of every charger I've used hasn't worked so I do this instead.
All GT’s were A or K code. Not an original GT as this is a 2bbl C code.
Yeah it Sharp looking stang
There's a lot of potential in that wonderful '66 Mustang, love that 289!
Love these kind of videos Steve, your methodical approach keeps it interesting, re the battery hold down, could you convert it to 2 hooks ended threaded bars and edge bar or would it foul on the bonnet/ hood.
That might be what I have to do but it’s such I nice car I would hate to not make it look original.
Let’s see more on this revival. As always your presentation is top notch.
Thart battery is scrap - don't waste your time or the energy to try & charge it. Anything that has been sat much less than 50% for any reasonable length of time will be damaged. Something that has been totally discharged & allowed to sit will be totally sulfated. Even if you can get old batteries to chrge they will generally have a fraction of theur rated capacity, high internal resistance which means basically zero cranking performance & more worryingly the sulfation actually results in mechanical expansion which can lead to internal shorts which result in best case high self discharge & worst case a short which can result in some fairly nasty results including explosion.
Nice, that's a sharp looking Mustang. Will be cool to see it completed.
do we want to see more videos of this beauty? Hell yeah!
Absolutely Steve!! Wanna see more! Nice job!
That's an interesting specimen. I look forward to following your progress.
Yes, more mustang videos. Thanks
heck yeah, get it running
Steve, you can quit asking us if we want to see more videos of "xyz" I think I speak for most viewers by saying it's a YES across the board! LOL Thanks for another great lesson in methodical mechanical troubleshooting.
What a beautiful car, crying shame the owner did get to finish it more videos on this Dream.
Oh, ,Steve, you've got to get the lovely green jewel back to its former glory. If I lived in the States I'd make you an offer!
*Even with the economic fluctuation, I’m so excited I’ve been earning $45,000 from my $10,000 investment every 10days.*
HOW!!😊 I know it's possible, my sister always get 40K every week, I would appreciate if you show me how to go about it.
@@leilahinds758 After I got up to $300k trading with Mrs Mary Lynn Crawford i bought a new House and I'm now able to send my kids to a better school in the states thanks to her. When someone is straight forward with what he or she is doing people will always speak up for them.
Her good reputation already speaks for her last month i invested over $100,000 with her and I've already made over $250,000 profit.
Definitely want to see more.
Love all the problem solving... and the gadgets you've got/made to make that process easier (will be looking at your remote ignition panel next). Looking forward to an update on the battery.
I'd love to see more! I have a 65.
Steve, I think someone actually makes batteries to look old school. I did see that some place, but not sure where they are located.
I know there are Autolite cover you can place over new batteries but the new battery would have to have the tab on it.
Getting this great car in working order will be a nice tribute to the previous owner .I'm sure you'll get it done Steve.
