      @@kjsmolik I saw those right after I already bought the MZ65 on EBAY…. Like all things be careful trying to save a buck! My bike is my daily and the MZ was quickest way to get me going. New pipe is definitely next after the frame and wheels. Thanks for the help!

      @@matthewowens8416 Same here with my broke ass hastily trying to save a buck.... I recently bought a $75 "Nasty Jack" pipe on ebay without noticing the "no return" policy (most say 30 day returns) To add insult to injury, the same seller now has some listed for$10 cheaper. I wasn't expecting much for $75, like I already knew the welds would be crap. I wanted it because it had the larger header ID & belly (despite the stinger ID being too big)
      But... #1 it was heavier than expected #2 the belly & header pipe sections are poorly misaligned creating air flow problems. (I also wasted $25 on a heavy slip on muffler.) In hindsight, I should have just bought a decent looking $40 mz65 clone & made my own lightweight slip-on muffler out of free parts laying around.
      To make things worse, my pipe needed bending a bit to fit. I heated a section of header tube red hot. Instead of it bending in the red hot area, it bent further down in a thinner gauge section putting a big kink in it. So now I'm kicking myself for not packing it with damp sand & capping the ends before bending. It'd be an easy fix if I still had a garage & a 220V outlet for my mig welder. I'm hoping my 3,500w generator will be enough to flux core/wire weld it together. (now really wishing I still had my $120 HF 110V AC wire welder) The $75 won't be completely lost if I cut the pipe open, fix the kink, align the pipes & belly for smooth airflow & weld on a smaller ID stinger pipe. If I do all that it'd work much better than stock & be decent pipe.
      Someone with a TIG welder could cut those pipes open, re-weld & make a decent pipe for $65-$75. The sad thing about those $40 mz65 knockoff pipes is they'd be much better if they didn't put those kinks in the header pipe from the tube bender they use & also used a smaller stinger ID.

    imagine if that thing was tuned, and had a 38 sprocket?? that thing would for sure hit 50 all day long, once again. btw i like the idea of that tensioner, i know you were an anti tensioner guy but ive never seen it sit that low, id assume it would be more reliable ??? this is basically a modern day moped, if engineers were involved and 2 strokes were still for sale, this is how they would come, i see reliability written all over this….. once again smolik on top….

    • @kjsmolik
      @kjsmolik  2 роки тому

      Not totally against tensioners but to get both chains to have good tension and tge gearing we need to run for tge track you almost have to have it.

    • @michaelbrinks8089
      @michaelbrinks8089 2 роки тому +1

      I noticed the stock chain tensioner roller is made out of crappy brittle plastic, whereas those $15 engine mount spring loaded tensioners come with a much better quality (nylon?) roller wheel....My $15 spring chain tensioner proved useless due to clearance issues on a 29in frame/wheels but I got a much better roller wheel so it wasn't a complete waste of money.

    That exhaust pipe is a work of functional art.
    Anyone who's making/selling parts for these bike engines should maybe look into making a manual controlled exhaust power valve for these 2 stroke engines (metal gasket-like piece with a butterfly valve that sits between the exhaust port & expansion pipe, controlled by thumb or twist shifter)
    An expansion pipe with a larger header ID will have better flow creating more top end power at the expense of low & mid range power. (like WC80 VS smaller header MZ65 clone) A smaller ID header will have better low & mid range at the expense of top end. A true automatic exhaust power valve would be very hard to make. But a manual one could be made much easier. The rider could shift and fully open it at WOT, then shift it to closed position when they come to a stop. It'd give them better low & mid power during take offs & more top speed power when they shift it open @ WOT.
