    Hello all!
    Just to quickly mention two things:
    1 - Apologies for my voice, I have an autoimmune condition that affects my mouth and without going into too much boring stuff, it sometimes affects the way I speak when I'm having a flare-up. I've had a flare-up for the past week so it was a bit of a struggle to record this. After re-recording this about 8 times, I gave up. There are a few mistakes I can hear but I'm past caring. It's understandable, so I hope that's all that matters lol
    2 - I've had comments in the past asking for the game noise to be reduced and to use music - I've done both here. The soundtrack to Side Order is one of my favourites ever from the Splatoon franchise so I've used it here. Let me know what you think it terms of sound etc, I am happy to constantly tweak.
    Enjoy the video!

      No need to apologize! Thank you so much for the love and care you put into these videos but don't forget to prioritize your own comfort and health!
      Can't say much about the background music/sound as I never really saw it as an issue but the Side Order soundtrack was nice :) ❤

      I can't say I noticed any major problems with the voiceover, so I wouldn't worry about that part too much. As for the background noise, I was someone who pointed it out before, and I think how it was handled here was great! Good video all around, and it makes me want to play more Salmon Run.

    To me the big problem with displacement bosses is not that they kill you but they waste your time. If you spend several seconds swimming back and forth to dodge a stinger or flyfish missiles, youre not getting anything done. The time really adds up if you get targeted by these over and over

    • @Nachiebree
      @Nachiebree 2 дні тому +3

      They totally kill you. Maybe not directly, but if you're being chased by a scrapper and you're out of ink, and your only path is cut off by a fish stick, you're already dead

    • @Sam20309
      @Sam20309 2 дні тому +5

      I don’t think the problem lies with the bosses themselves but more the sheer amount. It’s frustrating to play when there’s multiple big shots, stingers, fly fish and drizzlers on the map at once all on complete opposite sides.

    • @SatchPatch25
      @SatchPatch25 2 дні тому +2

      @@trainzelda1428 yesss! It totally adds up. It frustrating when you're a couple shots away from finishing off a boss just to have to run away because you're being targeted by another. You waste time and the other boss ends up living for another cycle or two.

      If a stinger or a flyfish decide to spawn on opposite ends of the map, the wave may as well be lost. Shore bosses are a necessity, we need time wasters to add to the challenge. The problem is that outside of the Big Shot, these two just suck.

  • @JC101_Official
    @JC101_Official 3 дні тому +15

    This. So much this. There have been so many times in Freelance where I can tell my teammates want to lure the starting spawns, but I absolutely know deep down that we shouldn't. Maws, Scrappers, and Fish Sticks? Sure, lure those. Maaaaaybe Steelheads and Lids, if I'm confident in the team. But Eels? Those are the ones that make me nervous, when randoms lure them, because like you said, they take up so much space, even on wider maps like Sockeye or JSJ. I'll take this as advice to try and go after them even at the shoreline from now on, cause up till now, I just thought it was me being overly paranoid about the Eels.
    Also, I appreciate the spotlight you gave here, and have been continually giving, to Lessers. As you said, nobody even really thought twice about them in S2, but here, I swear they are deadlier than almost any boss, just because of their sheer numbers and the buffs they got between games. Seriously, I would love to see an close, side-by-side comparison between the Lessers in both games, showing changes like how they no longer get slowed down by our ink in S3, while they did in S2, and little things like that. I haven't seen a direct comparison anywhere on UA-cam, so hey, if you're looking for a video idea, feel free to use this one!
    Another thing I'm gonna take from this video: Stingers. I've known for a while that I can go towards them to get aggro off of me, but I hadn't considered until now the idea of intentionally running away from them and away from basket, thus taking their aggro and pulling the laser away from your teammates at basket. I feel like this tactic will require some level of trust in your teammates, but I might start using that if they've shown they can be trusted.
    Great video as always!

    THANK YOU OMG
    Static hunting is NOT a free pass for avoiding basket responsibilities, especially with ink -consuming heavier comps that really suffer from turf eating, team displacing bosses. The passionate mood I feel when I want to scream thatttttt 😭😭

    Have you considered doing a series of (very) short videos about each of the bosses? For example, I believe you said that flipper floppers de-aggro players on top of grates. I never knew that. I see other people in the comments mentioning that they didn't know stingers target the player furthest away from them.
    (This is a bit specific, but I'm wondering if there's a way to determine which player / direction drizzlers will fire their torpedoes at. I know they land at designated spots and will jump to another immediately if there's no one around, but I'd like to be able to bait their shots to somewhere convenient and I *feel* like I can do this by being the closest player when one lands.)
    Another idea if you ever want to just screw around: a retrospective on Splatoon 2's Salmon Run! I popped back in briefly a couple times since picking up Splatoon 3 and was a little bit bored, honestly. The dumber, less competent lessers certainly were a factor in that. I mostly played SR in Splatoon 2-going back to it after Splatoon 3 was a big shock.
    Great video as always! I have no opinion regarding leaving in sound effects or just having a BGM play. Side Order OST is nice, though.

    15:20 You know, it wasn't until watching this video that I learned the correct way to one-shot both Flyfish baskets, namely by aiming at the center of the lids as shown here.
    I've happened to one-shot them on occasions before, but I never quite figured out exactly where the sweet spot was when I did it, so I would often just opt to play it safe and shoot the baskets one by one rather than fiddle around trying to figure it out.

    Drizzler torpedoes are really weird, I think they do more damage to the drizzler itself than to other enemies because some bosses that are weaker than drizzlers haven't died to them and the torpedoes lack the armor pen on scrappers and steel heads that they do when shit back at a drizzler

    • @rachelskiiiiiii
      @rachelskiiiiiii  2 дні тому

    • @MarsellusWallace
      @MarsellusWallace День тому

      They do seem to have unique interactions with Drizzlers, like the way the missiles seem to auto-angle themselves at the Drizzler regardless if you shoot them high or low, so it wouldn't surprise me if armor-piercing insta-kill is something Drizzler-specific.

    Great info as usual, particularly like calling out lesser control. I played S2 SR with some friends not that long ago, and was taken aback at how weak the lessers were. I'd forgotten how easy we had it before.
    I also couldn't help but think about if playing would be less stressful if the Salmon Run music was like the background music you had going (Side Order, right?). It kind of made me giggle at the idea of being locked in a double-Eel hug while Flyfish missiles rain down one you and that one Smallfry goes in for the final kill, and there's chill ambient music going in the background. 😌

    Great video. I always tend to go big shots because big shots are the rarest boss salmons in the game. I do die in some occasions, and some cases be in the last player standing to revive a player killing big shots. You can make a Drizzler to shoot to the one closes to water to make sure that storm cloud hits not that much on the floor. I do keep painting walls and floors when the wave is about to start. I do splat bosses early in some cases, especially beginning of each wave. Slammin' Lids i used over and over to either not spawn lessers and/or kill bosses and lesser salmons. Why do you judge people's power egg? My lowest power egg count is 431 getting 56 eggs in the basket while you had an explosher using inkjet and me getting golden eggs in the basket in the mud mouth wave ignore lessers. Great job with the video.

    This is interesting. I'm definitely one of those players who have always thought it was better to lure the stuff you can. I get really annoyed when my teammates kill everything on the beach and then we can't get enough eggs cause of all the running back and forth that has to be done. That said I immediately focus Stingers, Flyfish, and Fishsticks unless I see someone else going for them already, since they can pile up really fast. I'm not sure I completely agree with your argument, but I definitely understand and don't think you're wrong necessarily.
    I think main problem is just people having different strategies, and S3 Salmon run is too fast paced to accommodate people not going for the same goal. So, even though I do think it's better to lure as much as you can, I only commit to that if I notice my team is on board. If they aren't I generally try to change thought processes and focus on clearing lessers so they hopefully will be more free to ferry the eggs from the edges of the map. But that's always a prayer honestly, cause a lot of time people kill a boss on the edge of the stage and then just skeedadle to go find a boss somewhere else and never help with eggs or lessers. At which point, there isn't a TON you can really do.

    • @rachelskiiiiiii
      @rachelskiiiiiii  7 годин тому +1

      Thanks for your thoughts!
      I don’t disagree with you at all, and I think this is one of the biggest challenges with Freelance. You’re kind of all playing on different wavelengths and I never know much skill my teammates might have, or what they know regarding luring and boss manipulation, you know? So I appreciate that experiences vary and opinions differ. My general consensus is that I can play safer if I kill the first group of bosses quickly and then run to the next group, and asses what to do from there. Generally speaking, anytime when I’ve seen snowballs, it’s because the first or second wave of bosses (and lessers, ofc) haven’t been cleared effectively or quickly and then the spawns pile up and attention can’t be given to the following spawning bosses. So I find that on the most part, being aggressive and proactive usually yields better results than waiting and attempting to lure.
      You’re right about accommodating and adapting and I generally think as long as you’re doing that, then there is no one “correct way”. Sometimes I lure if my teammates are, sometimes I run away and wall cling if my teammates do… I think adaptability is the most important thing here. Appreciate your comment!
      Maybe I will do a video on team work in freelance in the future because that seems like a good can of worms to open lol

    I know its nothing compared to you, but after my 8000 job shifts, I can add this:
    -ALWAYS damage Cohocks. Killing them maybe takes time from something else you need to do, but always try to damage them. Cohocks are a pain. Also, if you weapon one Shots smallfries with one shot, kill them, please.
    -I don't think I have too much to say about Flyfish and Stingers. Even if your weapon isn't the best to deal with them, you should try to kill them fast.
    -This doesn't apply to overfishing but if you have a weapon like sploosh or dapples, spawn camping a Big Shot is actually good if you know how to survive.
    -In Freelance, many people ignore fish sticks, so you should know how to kill them even with weapons like Rollers and Chargers
    -Drizzlers as are annoying as static bosses

    Out of curiosity, why do you suggest to try and kill Fish Sticks before they land? With the exception of Cohawk Rush/cannons I always go out of my way to let them land because not only do I consider the Sticks that get left behind after killing the Small Fries a benefit to the Co Workers (pretty safe high ground), but if enough spawn they eventually cannot spawn anymore (limited number of fish stick spots) and hey, no more fish sticks!!!

    • @rachelskiiiiiii
      @rachelskiiiiiii  7 годин тому

      I’m not sure if you’ve had the same experiences as me but I find dead Fish Sticks to be annoying at higher EVP. They block spawns, they de-aggro spawns and I’ve seen a lot of slow or charging weapons stay up there and not help with lessers etc? Generally speaking, I get why they’re good from a defensive standpoint and will always recommend keeping them around for high ground on flatter maps (Smokeyard comes to mind) but… I’ve been killed by Eels that shouldn’t be focused on me but my teammates have accidentally caused them to aggro me (Sticks de-aggro Eels and Scrappers if you weren’t aware).
      So I’d guess you could argue that it’s personal preference and you’re right, once three have spawned, no more will so maybe having 3 sticks is better. I think I just prefer non-defensive strats in general, as anything defensive gets abused and misused in freelance (such as wall clinging).

    • @jfei64
      @jfei64 2 години тому

      @@rachelskiiiiiii I'm not sure what you mean by them blocking spawns though yes I am aware they deaggro. Admittedly I have not played on the highest hazards levels as much as I wish I could, I average 29-32 quotas on wave 3, but I have not really had much of an issue with people deaggroing at a bad time. For the most part I would actually prefer the slow charging weapons stay up there (map/tide dependent). Most of them have the range and power to attack from that high up and generally I find those weapons are more effective at killing lessers and bosses when they aren't harassed by lessers directly. I don't really consider this to be defensive per se since unlike wall-clinging they should still be attacking stuff while up there. I generally find it a far bigger issue when they try to play like a shooter in hyper aggressive, front line positions and surprise pikachu face, they get splat because that's not where their weapon wants them to play. Also I don't mean having 3 Living Fishsticks, but rather several dead Fishstick corpses(?). I'm pretty sure Fishstick landing locations are fixed but new Fishsticks can't seem to land on a location with a Fishstick corpse is so once you, for example, have all 4 Fishsticks around the Bone Rattle Basket placed and their corpses occupying those spots you no longer have to worry about any more Fishsticks near the basket. That's why I generally want them to land.

    Im pretty sure, but not confident in this, i think drizzler torpedos dont do 900 damage to anything thats not a drizzler and its just programed to always kill a drizzler if it hits it, bcs it can also kill drizzlers with their armor up which definitly isnt a feature of its explosive property normally. im thinkinjg it might do like 600 maybe? although i could be wrong and it does do 900 maybe? i wish there was solid proof data that says how much damage a drizzler toropedo can do

    Edit: I feel like that might be a lot to ask just as a reply to me asking. 12:15 There is a small chance i'm wrong here but i'm pretty sure Drizzler's torpedos do base 100 x players in the lobby (Don't even begin to ask me why it's multiplied per player this game is programmed very well (a few things do this actually lol)) so in actuality they do 400, they're just programmed to 1 shot Drizzlers specifically, but honestly don't count on it those torpedos can hit something direct and they get tickled I swear to god only time I actually get use is deflecting them into flyfish
    Anyways great guide as per usual esp for something that really does not get discussed as much of why games can easily go into the shitter, esp funnier when alot of these principles of painting and keeping turf also apply to yknow, the base game lol. Yeah went back to check the friend that told me this (rly good SR player so pretty sure he's correct) it's basically everything that can deal damage to salmonids does this so
      Torpedos (100), Lids (500 crush 100 death) Steelheads (500) Chinooks (80) and Horror (500/300/100) (no idea about Meg btw not sure on them for the other kings that might just be a fixed number? beats me)
      Again ive only been told this so there is a small chance i might be wrong
      (I think you can actually see the phenomenon in action quite clearly if you crush a Big shot with a lid since they like, don't instantly die since you'd need 500x3 to do enough damage for lethal it's super weird)
