real talk, finally a better use of the 'exe' horror genre and taking it somewhere further/expanding the topic on a deeper level than just "teehee but what if plumber man and blue furry was evil?"

I agree, when I heard the word ".exe" for this story, I was starting to have doubts about this since sonic.exe rotted my brain so much to the point I only think of him first whenever I hear the word .exe and made me think it was just gonna be another one of "those" stories.
But after listening to this story, this is a masterpiece right here, and a better take on the whole exe genre, it's quite refreshing honestly.

Short story with an ending I didn't expect. An accurate portrait of grief. Glad the author didn't feel the need to drag on the story to get the point across.

The ending was so bittersweet but it's scary to think if the grandparents didn't try to throw him a bday. They would of find him dead on the floor 😢

i think its accurate to life. often a kind gesture or two really can make the difference to give someone something to hold on to in dark times

Wow... A story that actually has a true honest to God happy-ish ending instead of an ending that makes me hate being alive. I cried. Im so so so glad to have listened to this in order to cleanse my pallette after all the death mayhem and miserable endings Ive indulged in over the past few days.

Fell asleep the first time so I’m back again for a listen. Grief can be so devastating sometimes. Missing your loved ones so desperately. I sympathize with the main character.. I been there you can’t even fathom the pain. Every day the pain. As time goes by you get stronger and more confident in yourself. It takes time to recover and heal from trauma. I’m grown and I hate learning activities because dealing with ppl is hard because ppl suck eggs man. They suck so bad.
This is my absolute favorite story. I love her, but this was refreshing. It’s a beautiful story, but what really brings home. The horror element, is a childhood fear that is common with many of us growing up. The prospect of losing our parents, especially for those of us who were not popular. Great job!

I was surprised at the direction this took. Well done!
I honestly bawled in the ending. And I'm STILL crying. Those onion ninjas are fast man ;-; This story is so beautiful, yet also bittersweet, and it made me think about my own experiences with grief. The idea of loss and trauma in this one just hit straight home for me.

Not very scary in my honest opinion. Found the main character a bit annoying, but I understood where he was coming from. More of a psychological horror tale than anything else. The game was more of a framing device than the actual focus of the story. I wonder what he did with the program after the end of the story?

May you please start posting all of the stories you post on gere to your spotify podcast, it makes it alot easier to pay attention to the story while im at work, which both require me to have my screen off, meaning no youtube stories, or i have to use my screen for work things, meaning still no youtube stories. It would also get you more traffic on spotify since youd be posting more stories on the podcast.
