those were great machines. They only had one flaw. because they were solid tub machines the fill was timed. If you didn't have good water pressure they didn't fill with enough water. A friend of mine had one and she was always having the agitator shaft replaced.,

I wondered why those washers didn't seem to have a good fill control like other washers. But why would this filling problem cause an agitator shaft having to be frequently replaced?

These washers cost upwards of $900 for a standard top load washer. They're made with much better quality, the way they all used to be made..
I repair speed queen commercial equipment and have worked on these older machines very durable and seem to have a long service life

That is mean, cause there is nothing special about this machine. It's old school crude technology that works- what most of us in the USA are used to
