I like to serge all of my edges first before I start sewing with any woven fabrics.
I'm so glad that E&M is finally making some woven fabric patterns because I much prefer wearing woven cotton garments.
A few years ago I recall Dianna saying to sew a knit pattern with a woven fabric to go up 1 size. Is that correct?
Yes, we do have that video on our channel. I like to serge them also. I was told to be careful doing it with stretch woven because it can stretch out the pieces. Have you found that?

I love this pattern!!! I'm buying it right now... I just wanted to ask... Could you make a video or a reel on how to cut the fabric for it, please? I'd just like to see it being done because the instructions said to cut on the bias, and they are bigger pieces that the usual bias tape that I would cut from time to time. Thanks!!!
Hi! Thanks. I’ll add that to my list. If you’re using stretch woven fabric, you do not need to cut it on the bias. Only if you are using non-stretch.

Do you think I might be able to see this dress using a knit fabric and just omit the darts? If so, Should I go a size smaller?
Hi. This pattern has been drafted with a woven block, which is different than a knit block. It might work out well, but that’s something to try with trial and error.
You will have to tape the darts out of the pattern before cutting the fabric.
That will work with this type of dart, but wouldn't recommend it for other projects/ darts.
Yes, knit is possible and sizing down could work, but is not necessary. 1 size down wouldn't hurt, if it’s your preference.
Though, I would advice to add clear elastic around the entire neckline and armholes.
A roll of interfacing band (3/8" width) could do the job as well.

The fabric has a little give but not much stretch. I didn’t cut on the bias.
what exactly is a stretch woven? what would I type into a fabric website - stretch woven? is it cotton with some spandex content?
Stretch Woven is a woven fabric that has spandex or elastane fibers added to it during the weaving process, which gives it a little stretch. I usually search "Stretch Woven" when I am on a fabric website. Surge Fabrics has some I like - surgefabricshop.com/search?q=stretch+woven&options%5Bprefix%5D=last
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC thank you so much for the link! I tried putting stretch woven into a few fabric websites and the search resulted in stretch woven activewear or stretch woven board short fabric which I assume isn’t the correct material for this dress?
