    • @PaganWizard
      @PaganWizard 5 років тому +5

      @@JoeBlow-24 Water alone will not dissolve or remove all the road salt and chlorides from under your car, especially in areas where road salt is used so heavily that asphalt roads turn white when there is no snow on them. I have seen areas where street sweepers were unable to clean the salt off the roads with just one or two passes. Water mixed with some baking soda works A LOT better, you'll want to use 1 cup of baking soda per 2 gallons of luke warm water. Let this mixture sit for about an hour so the baking soda can completely dissolve in the water, give it one final mix before use. This should be enough to do 2 cars, and any left over solution will last for about a week. Baking soda chemically neutralizes the salt and chlorides, so even if your cleaning method does not remove all the salt, it won't be able to start rusting your car. Baking soda is also much less expensive than soaps or de-greasers.

      Also if anyone ever uses a pressure washer, those nozzles are microscopically narrow, using anything other than water would clog them up fast as well as your pressure washer's pump. You would need a sprayer gun to spray the solution on, and then hook up the Ryobi sprayer and blast it off.

      TheMidnightNarwhal most cars have belly pans yes but the belly pans aren’t the full length of the vehicle. Even with belly pans salt an sand still gets all over the engine plus all the salt on the frame and suspension components. I like to rinse it down a few time in the winter and give it a good cleaning in the spring.

    • @JackRR15
      @JackRR15 5 років тому +1

      @@FABAutomotiveDetailing Yeah but to spray your suspension parts on the outer side you don't really need this tool. And the under panel does somewhat help to avoid getting salty water under but yeah I guess it depends how long it. My car is mostly has it all the way. It's basically only the exhaust piping that is uncovered.

    Scott I liked this and got one. The pressure is not real high, only a fair rinse comes out even with my 1850psi (rated) Greenworks electric washer (which is still probably close to 1100-1200psi, RE:Obsessed Garage). I one-upped you and got an extra long extension 31" and have the std. 14" extension with my gun and connected them with a swiveling angle connector. Now I can run it back and forth without stooping over. Easy on my back, which I'm sure you'd appreciate. Love you guys....

    I've had mine from years, I bought it off of eBay for a lot less then that one a although I'm sure they're now more expensive. And it's not a Ryobi. But it has casters on it instead of those plastic wheels, and it also sits lower then the Ryobi so you can get under extremely low places, plus it will last alot longer than that one because the wheels are industrial-grade... And yes they work wonders on removing mud underneath my four-wheel drives... Keep in mind, that the pressure of your pressure washer will be divided amongst 3 Jets instead of just one, so your pressure will be 1/3 out of each jet then what your pressure washer and be with just one jet. So if you have a 1800 PSI pressure washer, then you'll get 600 PSI out of each jet. And if you have a 3000 psi pressure washer and you will get 1000 PSI out of each jet. I just looked them up on eBay, and they're still about $10 cheaper than the Ryobi ones, or at least on eBay they're $10 cheaper than the Ryobi... When you break your wheels on that one, check out Ebay for them

    This works on push lawnmowers too (maybe even lawn tractors as well?). A lot faster time - virtually a minute or less. I put my mower on top of a cinder block for each wheel, scooted this under there, and blasted the whole deck clean (and revealed a lot of areas were paint has come off I need to repair)
    But yeah, for the car, putting a foam degreaser coating down before you spray is a good idea.

This works great for rinsing the underside of a vehicle, but it does not get mud off and i learned from crawling under my vehicle with my 0 degree spin bit and nearly 2 hours of being wet. i love it, but does not do great for mud. the water broom feature works great for cleaning a driveway I must say!

    I like the three nozzles instead of four. Three has more pressure force in the spray while four has more volume but less pressure. It's like putting your thumb over the end of a hose. BUT, the Ryobi doesn't come with wands. They/It are sold separate for another $ 30 or $ 40. So, I'll go with another brand and if I need more pressure then I'll use my gas pressure washer instead of my electric one.

  • @chrisgraham2904
    @chrisgraham2904 2 роки тому

    Would be nice to see this unit perform on a really dirty vehicle undercarriage that's been off-roading. My only concern with multiple nozzle undercarriage cleaners is the reduction of pressure over multiple nozzles. At least RYOBI has 3, rather than 4 or 5 nozzles. Also, it is recommended for gas pressure washers up to about 3,300 psi, so I wouldn't expect much from it with an 1,800 psi electric washer. Certainly do need something to combat the damage of salt and brine through Canadian winters.

I know there are several commercial gadgets (such as the one you are demonstrating) that you can purchase but the tech at KROWN Rustproofing told me that attachments that you connect to a pressure washer can remove some of the rust proofing product. Anything that can attach to a regular garden hose though is fine. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this precaution?

    Seems the two outer nozzles would do better if they were turned a few degrees so they aren’t battling with the center nozzle.

    Nice but you can use a garden sprayer with an extended handle set on jet works great for short money

    Looks cool, though isnt illegal to clean your car on your driveway without letting it go down the public soar/drain? I.e. in Sweden it has been on topic from time to time and so far it covers to not clean your car near any lakes at least.
    The other thing is the cleaning below the car. In auto car cleaners it rarely cleans at all resulting in dirt only being moved around beneath the car. This thing seems better but I think you need more pressure applied to actually get a proper cleaning. Any corrosion protective coating shouldn't fall off but quite hard to monitor when using this device (as well as other parts being affected).

    I live in New England, and this "would" be great. 'Cept in the winter, my outside water faucet and hose would be frozen, if I used it. Wish I had an indoor wash rack, with drains.

    • @robertheinkel6225

      You only use it once the temp gets above freezing, to wash off the salt. Wash the undercarriage during freezing temps, and you are asking for trouble.
