i live in British Columbia Canada, the westcoast, not vancouver but a small town 3 hours south of Alaska, so i think it would be too much like northern europe for you two, although if you look at Vancouver, the weather is very mild even in winter months, rarely snows, but the city is the most expensive place to live in Canada, because all canadians want to live there and also in the southern interior of the province a valley called the Okanagan, where it's all about lakes, beaches, fruit orchards and vineyards.I'm originally born and raised for 10 years in the azores and if i had to choose from your list first i would pic Portugal, second Greece, third Spain and fourth would be Mexico, the westcoast is beautiful in mexico and we usually go to puerto vallarta every year, but some of the things i don't like about Mexico are (1)it's dirty.mexicans throw their garbage everywhere,no pride in their land even thought they claim to love their land, and too much air pollution and noise pollution from all the vehicles.(2)the food is boring, always Tacos, tacos tacos and refried beans, the beer is like drinking watered down piss(not that i have done that,NO!LOL),(3)Too many americans.

That thing about Italian Food is soooo true! I moved from Northern Germany to Tuscany a year ago. And although it ticks so many of the boxes you named...when it comes to food the choices are extremely narrow (excellent quality of the products of course). I miss the variety of cuisines. Apart from that...beautiful nature, beaches, mountains, rolling hills, a lot of green, good weather, culture & architecture - it offers a lot! We find it not so easy to make friends here, even though we speak the language.

Lol, my parents' house, where I lived longer in my life, was the house where the main offices of the marina are now.
You should have seen that place before the megalodon was built in the early 90s. It was paradise.
My parents loving boats and sailing, themselves, it wasn't strange to see an english couple anchoring their yacht in front of the house - after a 2 week voyage - end up having a warm bath at the house, and a comfortable dinner, where they narrated their seafaring adventures.

I disagree what tou told about italians. I wouldn't say they're nationalists, I would call them traditionalists. Also that they're aggressive. Emotional would describe it better. The italian woman in the video is quite extrem, never have seen such a behavior on delivery of a pizza😂 usually people are happy, because there lunch/dinner has come.

always a fun topic to consider. for the last 2.5 years, Mexico works for me. and I live a very basic life with few activities and even less high end food. I actually got tired of Mexican food very quickly. its all the same 4 ingredients in different shapes and I find the taste bland. but I'm there for the freedom and the affordability. and my Mexican girlfriend of course. and as you guys found out it is super easy and fast to travel around Mexico. the flights are almost always under 4 hours and for someone from Canada that is super easy to take. as an extreme example, Tijuana to Cancun is still only 4 hours 12 minutes. as long as you dont buy drugs in Mexico you have zero to worry about. at the moment I am in Panama. too hot for me here in the city and the beach. up in the mountains is cooler and a jungle paradise that is always green. I have liked almost every place I have travelled to and feel sad when its time to leave. if there was no such thing as winter in northern Europe and the politics wasnt so communist I might pick Amsterdam to live. been to Netherlands 3 times and I just love everything about it. although - no mountains is a problem for me! but I could probably live anywhere, at least for a limited time. us humans are very adaptable.

When your NHR 10 years runs out, will you consider moving to another country? If it we're me, I honestly would. I love Portugal but I'm not sure 48% tax + 23% VAT is worth it. Definitely need some kind of incentive to keep me there.

My family and I are Portuguese, lived and visited many other countries but we came back again because it’s a relaxed family country with many good things: not too wet nor too hot or cold; good food and friendly people. Yes, politicians are the worse and therefore the country could be much better.
    Where to (for you)?
    - Lagos or Faro or Tavira (Portugal Algarve, nice weather, continental Europe, airport, nice connections)
    - Denia (Spain)
    - Palma (Mallorca, Spain)
    - Florida USA (Max 6 months per year I think, but there are exceptions)
Wherever you are, we’ll keep watching your videos 😎 and perhaps visit you 🤣

Sorry to disagree with Joen. You do get 40° in humid weather! Last year North of England + London reached 40°C and it’s humid heat in Summer. It was unbearable. 26° in coastal Lisbon is very nice, but 26° in London is horrible. I’ve been to 51° in Morocco and I coped better. I hate humid heat. 😬

Naw, Bali is visually stunning but the climate suuucks... And it's pretty boring! Can't get me anywhere in the tropics and developing nations are just too much of a hassle for... almost anything. After a while it gets annoying.
I'd say if you have the budget... San Francisco, or near it (Marin, Santa Cruz... and no I don't have the budget) something like that. Perfect weather. It's my promised land. Madeira is great too, but meh... overall package is a bit lacking.
I live in Switzerland btw and I like it, so thank you for that Joen... the weather though! As to being uptight... I guess, but that's the price for a well functioning, highly developed nation. It's hard to beat if you need a job and appreciate great amenities and services.

    • @joenandamalie
      @joenandamalie  8 місяців тому +1

Climate sucks?! WOOOT! Yes, it's a bit humid during wet season, but it's not unbearable. SF on the other hand is one of the last places we would live. Homelessness and crime is out of control. Everyone is leaving as the tech industry basically ditched having office space in order to save money and allow workers to work from home. I'm sure SF was amazing back in the day, but today it's a different story.

Love your videos……we all fantasize about the perfect place to live if you are poor…… but if money no object because you have crypto…… it is La Jolla or Del Mar in San Diego………there is nothing else that comes close…… yes taxes are crazy, life is expensive……. But paradise is worth it……. All these mosquito infested places you talk about are worthless to me….. or a country where no one wants to work or workers move like snails…. No thanks….. come visit……wine country just an hour away in Temecula…..ocean beaches footsteps away, perfect weather, great food, great healthcare.. grow everything in your backyard. Maybe too many babes in thongs…. Maybe they should cover up….. but omg it’s like Mexico but safer….. like Switzerland but warmer, like Portugal with hard workers, I could go on and on………..did I mention the thongs?
