      when i met 3D everything was wireframe, you just imagined the render, and the final render was just phong mode,welcome to ms dos.

    Blender is hard to learn at first but it's so worth it. I feel like I can make anything.

    When I create an object by default there are no units to even determine what dimensions are. Did they test this with human users?

      Scripting is really important for programmers and those who build addons for Blender. It's just not for your average modeler/sculpter. There's probably some good uses for it otherwise, too, if it doesn't cause your eyes to glaze over when learning about it (like mine) 😂

    Devil's advocate here. this will sound very Elitist coming from me, but i believe the problem with making Bender Easy to learn , is that the stuff they do to make it Easy to learn will Get in the way of professionals. i think that the bigger problem is that way too many people dont teach how to use the Interface and find what you need.
    More over many of the popular tutorials dont teach you Any of the fundamentals of 3D graphics and all of the important technical prerequisites you need to learn before hand. Blender is cool and all but its not meant to be a Toy. and Tons of the begginer orianted tutorials dont bother with those things and sometimes give out outright misinformation (looking at you blender guru) , this causes people to get trapped in tutorial hell.
    there have been just way too many times where i had to scream to people that were already in the process of making some elaborate model or animation or character the Basic detail . that 3D models have Y- as forward axis. when basic stuff like where the forward direction should be standardized and when basic troubleshooting steps like hitting Ctrl+N to fix normals isnt tought then its no wonder that blender has such a daunting learning curve.

    • @ztmorris9738
      @ztmorris9738 2 місяці тому

      So how would you suggest people learn these fundamentals that aren't taught?

    • @ali32bit42
      @ali32bit42 2 місяці тому +3

      @@ztmorris9738 i suggest starting by learning what 3D models and graphics are on a technical level and how they are meant to work. this will include standards for your software of choice. that means things like the example above where Models face nagetive y By default.
      after that you focus on learning the interface. dont have fear and just see what all the buttons do. read the tool tips, look up where everything you expect is and learn any controls they might have.
      from there you want to go for Goal orianted learning. That means you learn ONE thing at a time. it can be modeling or material work or a different discipline of 3D. but dont try to master everything at once. you will be burned out and overwhelmed.
      BIG TIP : there is a massive difference between learning technical skills and learning Artistic skills. DONT try to learn both of them at the same time !. way too many people expect to be able to learn the software and learn to make a master peace Pixar movie in the same day and fail. stuff like using modifiers are technical skills, Emotion , color and design and character are artistic skills.

      It's actually a well known ambivalence: A software that can make tons of stuff has 2 way to be designed. Either your prioritise a user friendly experience but it will very quickly get in the way of people who actually wants to go deeper and make complicated stuff, that's what Apple does for example. OR you prioritise the long term run and force user to have a hard time at the start so they can go as deep as they want later in the process once they figured out the whole dynamic of the soft.
      There is no magic solution and imo Blender made the best choice, also let's not forget that before version 2.8, Blender was way harder to figure out so they actually made their best to improve its user friendlyness without screwing advanced users. Since there are tons of ressources online to learn the software it's just about lazyness at this point, and that's fair because people that are too lazy to pass that begining stage would eventually be too lazy to make decent 3D art in the long run because 3D is far from easy.
