- A fun day of fishing with a dragonfly lure! The weather is perfect for some topwater action, let's hop in the kayak and see what we catch!

Rod: St Croix BassX 6'8" M XF amzn.to/3JJPBEO
Reel: Daiwa Zillion SV TW G amzn.to/3F6TCCc

This is unfair…. This guy could tie on an empty budweiser can and catch football smallies all day. These vids are just awesome. As a kayak fisher myself im always impressed. Thank you.
Somedays all I'll catch is a empty can
He knows everything about where he fishes for every part of the seasons. Takes a lot of time on the water and skill built up over a life of experiences which I believe he has. Most of us have a general idea but are guessing most of the time.
Honestly, an empty Sam Adam's Oktoberfest can seems to trigger the bigger smallies
I fish the same river these fish are so unpressured you can throw a screw in the water with a hook lol. @@JRec-ql5fc
@@andybales7318 A Shiner's can, slowly dragged over the pond scum, is deadly!
Near 6K views in just under 3 hours! Best fishing channel anywhere! And I appreciate your taking us along with you, Matt! This 83 yr old geezer prolly won't get in too many more bass fishing excursions, but I get my vicarious giggles riding along with you, and you'll never know just how much that means to me!
You know, I'd love to see another retro-vid - using some of the old hardware I used to throw at them - Jitterbug, Chugger Spook (my favorite top-water), and maybe even a Flatfish. I caught my PB on a green scale Flatfish - just under 6 lbs on a pond in upstate NY, at noon on a bright sunny day! As a matter of fact, it was the National Holiday declared by Nixon at the first Apollo Moon Landing. Long time back!
Hah! Almost your age. Caught many, many LM bass in upstate NY. Flatfish (green scale) accounted for a high %. I too get my vicarious trips in through this channel. We probably fished some of the same water!
@@couponvillage Very likely! PB was from Long Pond (Tarbell Pond) in Smithville Flats. More from St Lawrence, Black Lake, and Butterfield Lake.
I'm 67 and I am so appreciative of this fishing teacher. I started using Yum Lubber because of him and I caught 5 bass in 12 casts. In approximately 70 minutes. I was helping my Wife with bluegills.
I love watching this fella, wish I could cast as well as he does....😂
You may want to search his channel. I’ve seen him using lures from the 1950s on here and catching fish
@@wolfpackmba I know, but I still want more! I've got a couple of tackle boxes full of the old stuff that some of the new guys turn their noses up at, and I'd like to see him show off that they can still catch fish.
Your casting accuracy is top drawer.
When he casted under the low hanging tree branch, I was like MY GOD I would have lost a lure if I tried the same thing hahaha.
The "Bob Ross" of fishing channels!!! THIS is what UA-cam is all about!
Hooked on this show like I was for Saturday morning cartoons as a kid!
12:03 you see the wake of the fish noticing the fly hit the water. crazy!
My favorite catch of this trip in that shallow back corner!
It absolutely amazes me that you can catch top water fish in bright sun. Where I live, it has to be early morning or late evening to get a top water bite.
The little bass lake I know has bass feeding topwater at midday. It has to be hazy, warm, and very little breeze. Bass will smack at dragonflies. Just toss a lure near the rise like fishing a trout!
Smallmouth don't care.
Largemouth won’t bite topwater where I live until right when the sun hits the water in the morning.
@@darthviseus8476 mine like that bite before the sun rises or as it’s just rising. Smallies absolutely refuse to hit any top water here unless it is dark
I've been here for two years now and honestly your an escape from reality just from everything you've taught me things I didn't know yet about fishing and so much more like how to be calm when you lose a big one. But I just wanted to say thank you for everything it might not be a lot but it's more than more than most people say.
Yours dearly,
Donovan
You're an escape...... I agree.
Saturday morning banger just dropped 🗣️🔥
Love your channel; you're honest and informative!! Funny story: I fished a lake in Eastern Ontario adjacent to Frontenac Provincial Park for a week, each of 20 years in a row. Great fishing up there due to the proximity of the Park, it was clean, quiet and hardly anyone fished; it was mostly campers, kayakers and canoes. One day out on a nice flat weed bed swarming with dragonflies, a canoe approached us and the mid-aged couple paddling it were tourists from England. They paddled right up to about 6 ft. away from us and the woman asked in the most regal sounding British accent, "... Oh hello, are there really any fish in this lake...?" About the exact second she said the word 'lake,' a beautiful 3-4lb large-mouth bass shot up 2 ft out of the water directly between us and snatched a dragonfly out of mid-air! He splashed water all over the Queen and scared the living s**t out of her! She almost tipped the canoe! It was hilarious! Soon as we all gained our composure, I said to her, in a poor imitation of her accent, "Yes indeed madam, as you can see, there are fish in this lake...!" My hand to god... ✋True story!
My fishing season ended a few weeks ago when I had one to many beers and thought I could still ride a bike like my old BMX days. Alas, I cannot. Thank u for keeping it alive for me
My morning is complete.
Best fishing channel on UA-cam.
Matt! What a day for you again. Love going out with you. I never had a day fishing like you.
I sit back and watch and find my self thinking ,Wow, Sweet another one , Omg!!!! It is the most productive fishing I have ever seen. Very nice to see waters not over fished. Very special to say the least!!
Great video, Matt, that dragonfly lure really produced a lot of quality largemouth, and the action was just awesome! I enjoyed every moment! Take care and be safe!
Thanks for taking us out with you today. What a great morning to watch you while having my coffee and not even getting my feet wet. Great little bass lake! Stay safe and fish On!
Just wanted to say a quick thank you, sir. Your videos have helped me both catch more fish and cast more accurately, all by watching the little subtle things that you and the fish are doing. I'm having a great bass season and even caught 2 muskies 👍👍
That’s awesome congrats!
I got the Roach. Now I need to get the Dragonfly. Great content. Super catches. TLF
Are you catching anything?
Master caster love how you get underneath the overhanging trees
A collab between NDyakangler and marling baits would be just what we all need🔥
Love this guy and his odd lure whispering talent
You have a new subscriber from a British fellow angler! Love your videos, so chilled! Tight lines as we say!
@@supernoodles91 “Tight Lines”…
I like that👍
6:40 that cast was beautiful!
Thanks for the great vids, @NDYakAngler. Keep em coming!
II really like your videos. Good cuts and quality overall. Most importantly, no screaming and yelling. Love it!. Thank you sir for good entertainment.
Truly enjoy your videos. The only time I relax anymore is watching you catch all of the fish in those beautiful lakes and rivers …
Matt,
Great video, sir.
One trick you may want to try is before you put the hook into the lure, take some dental floss, and a dab od gorilla brand superglue, and attach the floss to the hook just under the eyeloop, and wind about half to three quarters of an inch and dab glue to lock it to the shank of the hook. Then pit a bit of glue on top of the floss, then put the lure on it.
This will help keep the lure from riding off the hook and it's shank. And save some reset aggravation.
Hope this helps, sir.
Thanks for another trip today Matt. Great action, had a blast!
Your videos got me back into kayak fishing, thank you.
Love the dragonfly!! Thanks for posting this, the fishing has sucked this summer here in chicago. Now i depend on your videos to see some bass😂
You are the Bob Ross of fishing.

Someone comments this every video
Bro we get it. Do you guys have post notifications on so you can be the first to post this?
@@jurlinquist I was the 1st, a punch of copycats 😅😅😅😅
@@spyk124Right? This comment is nauseating. I've been seeing multiple posts on every video for what 5 years?
Matt,
I really like how you show no hesitation where paddle you kayak or where you dropped your lure. WOW!
Two feet of water, and you pulled those last couple of lunkers to end this latest outing, nice job.👍👍👍
Another great video! That lure is a keeper! Thanks for taking me along again sir. I look 👀 forward to it.
top drawer fishing/ therapy session 😊
The precise casting is impressive!!!!
When your baby bass is my usual catch 😂
Two things:
1) The cast at the 12:06 mark is epic. Right after the lure hits the water, you see waves where the bass is coming in for the strike. So cool.
And
2) Does anybody else have a little panic attack when Matt makes a cast, then holds the rod with just one hand so he can use the other hand to paddle the kayak. I'm terrified a 6 pounder is going to blast that topwater and Matt will miss the hookset! That's called living vicariously through the UA-cam fisherman 😂😂.
A lovely day for kayak fishing!!
That was a good day, dragon fly was nicely made.
I tried giving this a go this past summer and couldn’t fish it if my life depended on it but this gives me confidence to give it another try next summer
I can't let it go without a most deserved praising comment to this excelente video. Many good sized fish in a beautiful scenario.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your show. You have a wonderful voice as well. It always brings me great joy to share your fishing. I haven’t been able to go for a long long time. I love feeling like I’m there. Keep up the great work!
8.42. mark..that was mater class .. an epic cast and perfect spooling and positioning… great catch.
What an amazing fisheries you live near. Thanks for sharing this with us
Really look forward to your videos.
A white dragonfly surprised me. Did a great job.
A lot of the colors were sold out at the local store when I picked that one up, otherwise I probably would have grabbed a black and blue one.
Careful Matt!! You might get bit by the BFS bug. :). Excellent as always. Thanks for taking us along.
Even your net game is on point!
I just got back from buying this lure 30 minutes and sure enough my favorite fishing channel is covering it. Happy Saturday!
Thanks again, Matt.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I always get a sense of relaxation when I do. Thanks for putting out such great quality videos.
My favorite fall lure !!
Caught my PB small mouthwith that exact lure
“Wouldn’t be surprised if I find a big one”
*big bass eats his lure instantly as it hits the water when he said that 😂. Amazing content bro
Just an Awesome trip with ya!!! You sure catch em on anything you throw at em!
Great action! Thanks for sharing!
You said it Matt....Great day to be on the water. Thar was another amazing lute that was anything but novelty. We had some luck wading our favorite creek for smallies and rock bass with topwater and jigs. Thanks for taking us along Matt. Blessings
No better way to eat breakfast and watch your videos
Still really enjoying the quality of your casts.. what a Nice day !!
I have that same lure that I've had for over a year now. It is still in the box, as I have not used it yet. Although I knew it would work. I love watching you try all these lures out. I was excited to see this video in my feed. Thanks for your content, I truly enjoy watching.
bass crack you be dealin'... I'm hooked.
I kayak fish local ponds, lakes, and rivers a LOT, but there just aren't a lot of huge fish around my neck of the woods. Most days you'll be catching bass 12" and under. It's rare to get a 15" or longer fish. My biggest largemouth all year is 2.42lbs and my biggest smallmouth this year is 2.93lbs at 18". I did accidentally land an 11.08lb musky while bass fishing that was 7" or 8" longer than my 26" bump board!
Wow what an ending. Great show, again…
I would say that dragonfly lure is a winner!👍
Of all the lakes you filmed, I like this one the best. Great video.
I tried the dragonfly one time used a few time. I took it off and left in the top of my tacklebox and kept fishing and the sun melted it lol. Nice video! Simple and straight forward.
So much fun to watch!😅 Thank you ❤
The lil dragon fly looks like fun. Considered it many times for ponds.
The Dirty Dangle strikes again. I was fishing with a buddy of mine and telling him about the dirty dangle, as you call it, and the very next cast my jig went over a limb and I gave it the dirty dangle when a nice bass hit it. It just happened as I was telling him about the dirty dangle. We have laughed about it ever since.
Those fish look really healthy! Thanks for sharing Matt much appreciated :)! Have a great weekend and catcha next adventure!
Got to find me some of those lures great bass video you stay safe out there and thanks for taking us along
Nicely done! 😊
Great vid, NDY. Love the channel!
Quiet, shallow coves like the one you went into at 11:07 are bound to hold a big bass. Great environment for bigger crappie, pike, and pickerel too.
Great day with the D Fly! 🙌
I do wonder how much more my productivity on the water would improve if I could throw a lure with this dude's accuracy. It's absolutely bonkers how he can drop it 2 inches off some of the gnarliest looking branches and structure and not get hung up (often at least).
A very common observation about Matt. His accuracy is apparently excellent. We never see his bloopers though 😄
Love the videos. Especially the large mouth stuff. Quality narration, quality fish. Keep on catching👍
Man you really are an inspiration for these boys in Pennsylvania 🎉
I remember when he wasn’t even at 100k subs now he almost at half a mil good job coming from Matt
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Matt MrKayak Mang 👋🥸....
awesome stuff dude..
see ya on the next one an stay safe out there..
Buh Bye from Central Canada 👋🤓
Woooo!!!! You fish with the coolest lures Matt. Keep up the good work
My dad got me one of these and I wasn’t sure it would be any good, but this video has convinced me to try it out
I was impressed with it! I’ll definitely be tossing that one again some time!
That lure made for a great video. I could easily follow it on your casts.
That was really fun to watch. You have a 6th sense with dropping lures on their heads. Neat
I've got one in blue/black.
Looks amazing on the water.
Tie up something similar to this on the fly bench. Use saved plastics when tails get ripped off for the bodies. Throw them around on spinning setup as well as the fly gear. Pike love them too. And cheap to make...🙂
What a fantastic lure fishing video with pure skill you make it look easy Matt
Pure joy 🎣👍🏼🎸👊🏼🍺
Great show today all have to try that bait . Tks for sharing 😊
This man summons the fish
That’s the coolest fishing lure I’ve ever seen!
Matt, that was really fun 🎉
Man I’ve never had a day like that in my life! Lol love this channel!
Dragonfly worked well!!
Love this channel.
I used this lure the other day in Texas. In the blue color, it worked awesome. Expensive lure, but a lot of fun..
Get in my net!!! Love this channel!
That was an awesome video to watch you fishing with the dragonfly. Those are all really nice fish, probably 2 to 4 lb that you caught. I really like how you use all different lures on your UA-cam channel. It's really neat to watch. I've tried the beetle and it works well. I'm going to try to get that dragonfly lure too. That looks really neat and try some weed bed fishing where I live in Canada. Awesome to watch you. Good job
great video Matt!
Love,
your Prom buddy
This guy is amazing!!!
You are the Ross Geller of fishing friends.
Epic….outro..your awesome.👍🦅🇺🇸
I ordered some Yum Lubber 5" and fished with my Wife in a farm pond for 2 hours. I cast maybe 12 times and caught 5 bass. I can't wait to try them on a larger body of water... THANKS for the tip...
