Top Gun Maverick Movie Description:
Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie from stories by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. The film is a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun. Tom Cruise reprises his starring role as the naval aviator Maverick. It was based on the characters of the original film created by Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr. The film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer, who reprises his role as Iceman. In the film, Maverick confronts his past while training a group of younger Top Gun graduates, including the son of his deceased best friend, for a dangerous mission.
Development on a Top Gun sequel was announced in 2010 by Paramount Pictures. Cruise, along with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, were asked to return. Craig wrote a draft of the screenplay in 2012, but the project stalled when Scott died later that year. The film was later dedicated to Scott's memory. Production resumed in 2017 after Kosinski was hired to direct. Principal photography which involved the use of IMAX-certified 6K full-frame cameras, took place from May 2018 to April 2019 in California, Washington and Maryland. An initial release date was scheduled for July 12, 2019, but it was delayed several times due to the complex action sequences and the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, several streaming companies attempted to purchase the streaming rights to the film from Paramount, but all offers were declined on the orders of Cruise, who insisted the film be released exclusively in theaters.
Top Gun: Maverick premiered at CinemaCon on April 28, 2022 and was theatrically released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on May 27, 2022, in IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and Dolby Cinema. The film was acclaimed by critics, with many calling it better than the original. It won Best Film from the National Board of Review and was also named one of the top ten films of 2022 by the American Film Institute. The film was nominated for six awards at the 95th Academy Awards (including Best Picture), winning Best Sound and received numerous other accolades. It grossed $1.493 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2022 and the highest-grossing film of Cruise's career.

This movie was the perfect example of how and what blockbusters are supposed to be.
You said it perfectly! ✌🏾 😊
Yes, while not the greatest film ever, it is technically perfect in every way as an action blockbuster.
Yea this is the pinnacle of what new age blockbusters should be
Yeah, this movie is what they used to be like just about every summer.
Every summer, you would get one classic movie.
You had Top Gun, Die Hard, Predator, Terminator 2, the Star Wars movies, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Independence Day, Lion King, Ghostbusters, ET, etc. Each one pushing technical limits while delivering wholesome fun and satisfaction for moviegoers. Top Gun 2 is a return to that and I hope it remains to stay.
No forced woke crap
"Talk to me, goose,"
"Don't get my son killed bitch" lmao too much bro
Yes, that was great!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@MarkSantanaNYCOmgg hii😊
Never would I have guessed a sequel made 30 years after the original would be THIS good. I regret not getting to experience this in the theaters. It must've been amazing.
I went and saw it three times--once by myself, once with my wife, and once with my oldest daughter--and had a blast every time. I hadn't had that much fun watching a movie in the theater since the first Iron Man came out.
Ah yes, iron man. Sorry to deviate from the topic but the 1st iron man is what started it all, until Disney took over (correct me if I'm wrong)
It was. Saw it in theaters three times, once in 4DX! Felt like I was in the cockpit with them
It WAS
Same, but Top Gun 3 is being made!! So they might re-release Maverick in theatres so you can watch them back to back 🤞
Usually, a character dies, and you never hear about him after that.
I'm glad this movie he (Goose) was an integral part. Maverick still has him in his mind.
Still a drop line on where Charlie is would have been nice.
False. Have you watched ANY of the Rocky movies past 3?
I love when Mell inserts himself in the shot. It’s always so well done and catches me off guard 😂
"Talk to me Goose"
Mell: "Don't kill my son bitch"😂😂😂
3:55 better it burns up in testing then in the field.
Tom said when he introduced the first trailer at Comicon "it's a love letter to aviation". It shows. A lot of love went into this and that's why it's easily one of the greatest movies ever.
32:10 The maneuver is called Kvochur's Bell, and it's the kind of thing that only variable vector thrust aircraft (such as the F-22, the Su-35 and, yes, the Su-57 featured in the movie) can pull off without crashing into the ground.
Great reaction!
Thanks for the info.
@@Mike-sb3rf different manoeuvres. The Cobra is basically turning the entire plane into an air brake by yanking the nose up before pushing it back down (Maverick does it in the F-18), the Bell is a rudder and thrust vectored turn that becomes a flat spin. The initiation and execution of both manoeuvres are different.
The mirage was also capable of doing it. the greatest jet ace today who started off as a paratrooper used it countless times to score numerous victories in the air.
@@CoffeeMatt10 my bad when I looked up the bell it showed results of the cobra maneuver
The Maverick and Iceman scene proved that despite being rivals in the past. Iceman always had his back after Goose dead. Iceman was Maverick's wingman outside of a plane and even in his last breath was drawn Iceman always had Maverick's back later in life.
Also, one thing I love about this film. They succeed to make new characters interesting in just one movie. Rooster, Hangman, Phoenix and Payback are some of the best newcomers in this film. Hangman remind me of Iceman and his rivalry between Rooster remind of the rivalry between Iceman and Maverick. This is notalgia done right.
Rooster sure, but the other characters were interesting?? They were one note characters lol
Hangman reminded me of Maverick 10x more than Iceman. Even Maverick commented on him Ditching his wingman just like he used to do.
@@peters4115 hangman was was written and portrayed well too. But ya the rest were glorified extras which is all they needed to be
Not mentioning Bob is a crime
@@echoesofmalachor3700 it was fun and all but c’mon hangman was a carbon copy of iceman lol
The original movie is timeless. But this, this was....as close to perfection as Hollywood can deliver. This was the best produced movie I've seen in decades. The cinematography, the heart. Like you said, it wasn't a cash grab, they wanted to deliver a great product, and they did. It won the Oscar for best sound, but I think it deserved so many more. I enjoy other movies like Marvel movies and Everything Everywhere, but I LOVE this movie.
I will agree, that this film deserved a lot more wins. Production wise, it is amazing. It wasn’t best picture worthy, but production, editing, cinematography, adapted screenplay all stellar. I really think it should have taken more wins at the academy awards. All Quiet on the Western Front won both production and cinematography, Everything Everywhere won best editing, Women Talking won adapted screenplay. I think this film should have walked away with at least 4 awards. All Quiet was it’s stiffest competition. If the academy had an award for most impactful to the industry, as voted by the academy and fans alike, this would have taken the award.
HOW...did you not see this in theatres? I appreciate the reaction but DAMN, this was a real experience
Solid stick to the grind💪
Facts
It was out for a long-ass time, too, lol.
Mell on Hangman: "Was that supposed to be his arc? I needed more!!"
ALL of us: *"Just wait....."* 😂😂😂
I know right! I won’t spoil it. I’ll just say my face was this 🥲
I balled my eyes out at the Maverick Iceman scene in theaters.
My girlfriend had never seen the original, so she didn't get it, but she still teared up a bit too.
I don't give many movies a 10/10 but that's one of em
23:34 I damn near choked on my sandwich. Damn that was funny as hell!!!🤣🤣🤣
Usually your callsign is picked for you by other pilots, and not always flattering. There's an article by a pilot whose callsign was 'Stab', titled "how I got my navy callsign by shitting myself in an F-18. Twice" One of the funniest stories I've seen.
I once read an article about a pilot who had the callsign 'Washjob.' It was given to him after he threw-up over the side of his plane.
So no, they really aren't always flattering.
You're absolutely correct. I got saddled with "Space Needle" when stationed in eastern Washington when I asked the guys about some news report about a guy winning the lottery and buying the space needle and gonna get it moved to central WA. Turns out it was a stupid WA Lottery commercial. Tried to shake being called Space Needle FOR YEARS before I finally accepted it. F***ing lottery commercials!
Mine is actually used by RADM. Cain though its never actually mentioned in the movie. Now if only I left the navy with 2 stars on my collar instead of the silver oakleaves.
Watching it in the cinema was incredible. I was hoping they would play Danger Zone and they did which made me so happy. It was an emotional experience but incredible at the same time.
I didn’t see it in the theater, but man, the first time I saw it I was laughing and crying at the same time on several occasions. 😂
The way the sailboat (@38:33) is trimmed is perfect. When I go sailing and my boat does it, I know it's in the groove. If you heel it a bit more and the water comes up on the deck, my entire family yells "rail in the water!" It means we are in a perfect configuration and go as fast as the boat can go. It was a beautiful scene.
yep. sailboat scene was legit. movies somehow fuck them up every time, this time i could tell they were actually sailing it. and sailing it right. that said while it was a very expensive yacht, i can't see anyone casually buying one of those for a day sailor. that thing is pure racer, and barely seaworthy.
@@arizona_anime_fan Absolutely correct. The carbon fiber spars break constantly, and that's about $100K to replace. By the way - only two other movies that got sailing correctly - "Wind" and "Captain Ron."
this was definitely my favourite movie of 2022. i had so much fun watching this and it’s the definition of ‘summer blockbuster’
Same, tie between this and EEAAO
It's criminal it didn't win ANY Oscars (not that I give two $H!ts. But even just cinematography alone?
@@sonar357 it won sound. I would’ve given it cinematography, maybe score, definitely best original song (but I haven’t seen RRR), and probably a few others. Would’ve at least nominated Tom Cruise for actor. I’m happy EEAAO won everything it did but top Gun deserved much more attention. (So did the Batman and Prey)
@@dallashewitt3742 NOPE got zero acknowledgment which I believe is criminal (great cinematography and amazing sound)
@@toddjefferson8761 Honestly, and I’m ashamed to say this has a fan of horror…I haven’t seen any of the Jordan Peele films. I’ve been meaning to, but I’ve been catching up on movies that aren’t superhero films or horror films past couple years (since 2020). Definitely gotta watch his trilogy and the Babadook lol. The Oscar’s definitely better now, but not perfect.
the plane scene at the start is such an amazing experience in the theatres
No actors actually flew any aircraft on screen nor will USN will clear them to do so. All the flying was done by USN pilots with the actors sitting in the back seat.
Mostly correct, the only plane flown by Cruise was the P-51 in the closing scene, it is his personally owned plane.
What a rush!😎
"This girl had 1 more flight in her and she did a great job" I think that hit more more than anything in this reaction lol I've always thought it was a beautiful jet
I love how Tom Cruise said he would not make the sequel to this movie without Val Kilmer. They have been friends for so long love it.
Seeing this in IMAX was amazing. My theater's seat was shaking throughout and the theater was packed and everybody was into it. One of the best theater experiences.
Jennifer Connelly actually is playing the admiral's daughter that was referenced at the beginning of the first top gun. The one Maverick was said to have slept with when his commander was reading off his list of infractions as an officer. She was only mentioned in the first movie but they brought her in and the cast Connelly to play her
I thought they said he took her flying in one of the jets
@@jwilliamb89 His commander only referred to her as "admiral's daughter". During the Great Balls of Fire piano scene, Goose's wife referred to her and said something about Maverick "going ballistic with Penny Benjamin".
“with a history of high speed passes over 5 air control towers, and one Admirals daughter!”
how do you nail this and miss it at the same time. he names her when talking to Charlie. remember when he sings "you've got that loving feeling?" well leading up to singing it goose and him talk about "penny marshal" the one who mav "crashed and burned on" the first time he did it. so yes. you're right. she was the admirals daughter. i even think goose named her again in the dressing down scene, (they whispered to each other her name), so yes, she was the admirals daughter mentioned in the first movie... she got named twce... she was also the girl he tried the singing approach with the first time.
@@arizona_anime_fan How do YOU nail this and miss it at the same time? Penny Benjamin was the admiral’s daughter. Penny Marshall is the famous actress and producer.
😘
Amazing how many licences Tom has. Motorcycle, real estate, single double prop planes, single jet. He's the man!
Anybody who's got "Ecstasy of gold" by Ennio Morricone as an introduction music on his channel automatically deserves a subscription. Period.
Just want to clear something up Mell, Tom Cruise did NOT fly any of the Warplanes in the movie, the Navy would not let him do that. However the scene where he's fyling the P-51 with Jennifer Connelly he is actually flying that plane.
That being said, when you see the actors in the jets, they're actually in the jets flying, they're just not at the controls. They're actually riding in two seater f-18s with actual Navy pilots in front with cameras behind the pilot seat.ua-cam.com/video/CS6R5B_6ZnU/v-deo.html
That P51 mustang is actually tom cruise's
Nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture but won for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
Should've won all of them
The Hollywood elite can not stand a movie that is patriotic for American. They were never gonna let it win best picture.
Yea F the Oscars.
Honestly F the Oscars, that mf Tom and his team went through hell to make this film and especially releasing it in the theatres and just look at the final product, so beautiful, OMG! I have a lot of gratitude for this film, it's so beautiful. The jets are real, need I say more.
The fact that TOM CRUISE was not even nominated for Best Actor speaks volumes. TOP GUN MAVERICK brought people back to the movie theaters after the pandemic. Nominated for 6 but only winning 1 Oscar is mind blowing... (then again THE COLOR PURPLE got 11 nominations and didn't win any Oscars.
I watched this movie in 4DX and my god it was the best movie viewing experience I’ve ever had!
25:06 the edit of Hank Hill has me crying laughing! Brilliant edit! Love this reaction!
This was a fantastic sequel. Loved the first movie but this one on a different level . The flying scenes were something else. Thanx for your reaction Mellverse. Until the next one 💜
That's because all those scenes were done from the backseat of the 18 F. they were really in the air during filming.
At Mach 10 you could fly from New York to Los Angeles in about 30 minutes. Just to give an idea of how fast that is.
The part where the 5th gen fighter did that cartwheel in the air i was like tf was that in theaters
“You can order these nuts”
😂😂
You're the 1st tractor that acknowledged the deeper meaning behind the Iceman scene. I caught that and point it out to everyone. I feel like val kilmers health was a major factor in his making this movie. If you can find an imax still playing this, run! It was such an experience. It was released my birthday week and that's all I wanted. I'm a calm person and it gave me such anxiety
*reactor not tractor. Sorry
Love this reaction! Happy to see someone enjoy this movie as much as I did! The first Top Gun is my dad favorite movie, so we watched it so much growing up that we know every line! Tom Cruise truly succeeded at making the perfect sequel!❤
*Pretty sure the kid would've noticed Maverick's motorcycle out front.* 🤣🤣
This movie always gives me goosebumps (pun intended) and makes me smile, LOVE IT
And the cast/extras singing "Great balls of fire" during the filming of that scene, was so good, they put the audio from that scene on the official soundtrack.
Retired Navy lady here. I joined in 1993, eight years or so after TG came out. Loved the original and was a big reason why I joined the Navy vs another branch. Seeing TGM after serving 22 years was a different experience than when watching TG, and not only because of my age difference. I have mixed feelings about this movie. As a huge fan of the original, I absolutely love this sequel. As a sailor, my heart swelled with pride watching, yet had a lot of heartache and pain, too, and not because of some inaccuracies of proper military protocol. Overall, I F-ing loved the movie. Just wow.
All three actors who played the Admirals were spot on. I felt properly intimidated when they were on-screen. And no, I didn’t like Jon Hamm’s character, either, until after a few times watching it. Tom and Val as a Captain and Admiral felt a little different. I didn’t feel as though I was seeing high ranking officers; had to remind myself of their rank to get a bigger impact of the dynamics, something I couldn’t do with the original. Military experience has given me a different perspective.
I would strongly suggest watching the behind the scenes to understand to what lengths they went to to ensure they not only got it right, but to add realism to the movie. Few-to-no green screens used and CGI is relatively minimal. (Don’t hate on the Tomcat scene, y’all.). No, most of the actors did not learn how to fly, but did go through rigorous flight training to be able to pull off looking like pilots. Watch the behind the scenes. ALL of them. Trust me. Especially for the cinematography aspects.
We invent and play some…interesting sports in the military. Changes things up and we have fun. Two that come to mind are ultimate football and walleyball - not VOLLEYball. I absolutely loved playing both. Walleyball is volleyball played in a racquetball court, the ball is made of racquetball material. Walls are used. Fun, fun, fun! Ultimate football is kind of a cross of soccer and football. Played with a football which is thrown or tossed (passed) from person to person. No kicking like in soccer, but gameplay is similar to it. The person with the ball cannot move, can only pass. Really friggin fun. Exercise without realizing it’s exercise.
Jennifer Connelly plays Penny Benjamin, who was mentioned at the beginning of TG. The “admiral’s daughter” when getting chewed out for buzzing the tower and finding out Mav and Goose are going to Top Gun. So Mav and Penny have known each other for decades.
The plane at the very end is Tom Cruise’s in real life.
And go watch the behind the scenes. Really. ❤
I had to laugh watching those videos when some of the actors got cocky and went through the dunker again only for it to almost backfire on them. As someone who went through that once was more than enough for me. The actors got so good at their roles that while filming they were actually mistaken for real officers on base. John Hamm almost gave one real petty officer a heart attack catching them off guard.
Understand that reaction though even as a senior officer myself I was not too keen on being anywhere near a flag officer especially the CNAF who is in charge of anything navy that flies.
@@CDRhammond I believe it. They gave off the right amount of confidence pilots have that they were believable, quirky Bob included.
Ha! Would’ve loved to have seen the PO vs Hamm interaction. Heart attack, anyone?
Yes, so many civilians either overestimate or underestimate the various trainings and schools. They underestimated, so it didn’t surprise me they were initially cocky. Playtime is over, boys. Properly humbled. However, I give them all huge props for going through all the training and not giving up. They are actors, a different mindset, and they made it through. Also big props to TC and Bruckheimer for ensuring it happened.
Side note: I’m Surface, but served half my career at Air Stations. Go figure.
@@Bozbaby103 Only 3 star I knew personally was VADM. David Nichols. Nicest guy around but intimidating as all hell due to those 3 stars on his collar.
Can imagine what it might be like I got blindsided by a Captain once myself was not a fun moment.
I believe it was Glenn Powell and Greg Davis that tried going through the dunker again. Davis ended up stuck and almost ended up like David Caruso's character in a officer and a gentleman.
I think I know what happened when I was in the navy my eyes first fell on the insignia if it was senior to mine, I instantly saluted. I would have snapped off a salute to Tom Cruise's eagle and defiantly to the actors wearing stars.
Did you know that Iceman's kids at the funeral were Val Kilmer's real kids.
@@CDRhammond You might like this story. My Aunt was a Navy Nurse, put in her 20 and retired as a commander. She said one day she was training a group of Corpsmen. A group of officers came into watch and she said "Now you boys see those officers back there. If you ever have a question do not be afraid to ask an officer. But if you want the correct answer to your question go ask your NCO." The officers did not laugh but the CPO in the room nearly feel down laughing.
If I'm remembering correctly, a pilot doesn't get to pick their own call sign. It is usually picked for them by their peers or even their commanding officer. It can be chosen based on personality, looks, or even from mistakes you have made.
It’s mostly from doing something embarrassing, or a play on their name.
Correct its normally earned while in a aviator/WSO's first squadron. Can also be based on last name of the officer as well as hometown. Mine was based on both my last name and personality in regard to enemies of the US.
@@CDRhammond Thank you for your service.
@@donaldseale2700 Best thing I ever did.
This was the best of the year. Superior sequel... easily in my top 3.
Same. Right up there with Aliens and T2. Not a huge Godfather fan, but I know people include that too. This one EASILY was the biggest surprise for me. I liked the first one, but this was a masterpiece on every level. My daughter and niece (both 13) only agreed to see it with me if I took them to the new Jurassic movie first. They gave that one a 7/10. They went back 4 times to see this. Both said it blew all the Jurassic movies out of the water.
I was watching a former naval aviator review this movie. As an aviator he said there is a lot of stuff that was not believable. But as someone who loves to fly, he loved this movie.
The 5th gen fighter is the Russian Su-57 and the maneouver it pulled off was because that aircraft uses thrust vectoring. It wouldn't really work so well in real life but a very eye catching stunt. Awesome reaction bro from here in the UK 🇬🇧
"Talk to me, Goose."
"Don't get my son killed, bitch!"
That alone earned a subscribe.
I love the second one WAY MORE than the first, but I'm glad I rewatched the first because it made me appreciate the second one even more. Especially how when you really think about it, Maverick was kinda cocky like hangman in the first movie and this one is him a little more matured and looking at the bigger picture.
I'm so happy I got to experience this film in my local IMAX theater. What an experience. It reminded me of the magic of movies and what classic summer blockbusters are all about. After years of just cookie cutter comic book films, this just felt so fresh and so...right. Hell, it may have even played a big part in saving cinema and movie theaters as we know it.
Oh and loved the video, not only are you hilarious but your reaction was very genuine and fun to watch.
They *could* do another one but I don’t think that was the plan and I really hope they don’t. This was about Maverick’s last dance before his kind goes extinct. He literally flies off into the sunset at the end. Let a great ending stay the ending.
They are doing a part 3, its been confirmed. Mav, Rooster & Hangman are all confirmed 👌 no idea if its possible to make it a perfect triology. The first 2 are so perfect
The navy's blue angels did the flying the actors road with them and the footage was worked on. All in all it was an excellent out come. The film is amazing on all accounts.
Only one former Blue Angel flew Cruise on the really low level scenes. Actual fleet pilots flew the other scenes with the actors.
From the beginning of the movie, when Maverick was in the Darkstar and was already worried about others in that program, should have clued us into his caring for others…and this Carrie’s on through the entire movie. It’s a great movie!
If you want to see a stellar performance from Tom Cruise, see “Magnolia”. Trust me.
Also, BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY.
" DONT GET MY SON KILLED BITCH "
broooo i fucking died xDDD
It might just be one of the best sequels in movie history. Along with Aliens and Terminator 2, it stands strong on its own.
Please give STAR TREK a chance.
Yup. They were riding in actual F/A18 Super Hornets (after a brief, legit flight training phase, including water survival) flown by US navy fighter pilots (mostly Blue Angels). So, the expressions on their faces when they're pulling 6-7 G's is NOT acting.
And them G's ain't no joke
Only one former Blue Angel pilot flew the really low flying scenes. Regular fleet pilots flew the majority of the scenes. None of the actors received any flight training, other than how to eject.
@@yxeaviationphotog They went through water survival training, including the inverted crash escape drill.
@@sonar357 Yup....I'm aware. But they never received any flight training in the Super Hornet. I assume you meant flight training as in they were given the basics on how the jet flies?
"Don't get my son killed, bitch." I'm still laughing at that.
I was a teen when TG came out in theaters in 86. It was a tremendous experience to see this blockbuster. A young Lt. Pete Mitchell, at the start of a career...and with still so much to learn. I'm now a man in his 50's, at a crossroads in my life, and I could relate to so much of what I saw in TGM, especially in the character of Captain Pete Mitchell, a man who is facing the end of a career, and an uncertain future.
TGM is probably one of the best legacy films ever to be made (and far superior to it's predecessor). It hit home at so many levels. This was also the ultimate summer blockbuster (that I caught over a dozen times in the theaters....with a number of the viewing in IMAX and/or at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood).
Tom Cruise, and his great cast (both in front and behind the cameras), hit a home run.
This movie was an awesome experience in the theater. I just wish I had seen it in IMAX. War of the Worlds is a good Tom Cruise movie. You would like it. His character goes through a great arc.
That was actually Tom Cruise & Jennifer Connally doing that Barrel roll in the end scene. It's his P51 Mustang and she feared flying. He asked if she trusted him. That's why you see shots of the two of them in his P51.
My mom was so obsessed with this movie she asked me to come watch it with her in theaters. I never saw the first one and this movie blew me tf away. I was so enthralled i had to take my wife to go see it too. And man i wont ever forget how into it she was. And that never happens. My wife has such high expectations of movies and she was freaking out the whole time. Its one of my favorite memories and i wont ever forget seeing it in theaters.
I truly appreciate the authenticity in your reactions. Your joy and excitement for films radiates through the screen and it's truly so fun to watch these with you! Excited to see what's next (:
This was an amazing movie and I enjoyed how much you liked it. One thing I would like to point out about this film that I really appreciated was that the 'enemy territory' was unspecified and ethnicity was kept vague. Tom Cruise said this movie will be about flying let's not bring politics into this, and I RESPECT that!
THIS is how you do a sequel. I haven't been so excited and on the edge of my seat in a theatre in decades. Loved this movie so much
The actors flew 90 minutes a day, during production and had to be in charge of their own makeup helmets gear volume cameras etc, during filming! Hangman is a combination of maverick and Ice!
If TOP GUN MAVERICK ever goes back in the theaters... especially IMAX or REGAL RPX, you must see it on those big screens..... All of those actors went through actual pilot training and were in the cockpit (but not actually flying the aircrafts). Epic movie !!!
Fun fact: that maneuver that the 5th gen fighter did is called the kvochur bell and is a maneuver created by Russia along with the planes they flew being Russian su-57s, russias first 5th gen plane and their first stealth plane
The amount of times I say “I’m the main character bitch” because of Mellow haha
I loved this one more than the first -- felt more invested in the story, and the love story between Maverick and Penny was way more believable and less corny than in the first one.
"How are we gonna get this museum into the air?"🤣

Didn't see anyone else mention it in comments but Tony and Ridley Scott are brothers. Tony took took his own life 11yrs ago after jumping off a bridge in LA, he had been diagnosed with cancer so that could be part of the reason. Fuck cancer.
Been waiting for this one💪🏻 LETS GOOOO
Technically Goose’s death is Iceman’s fault because it was Iceman’s error that put Mav and Goose’s plane in that situation
This is the first time I've ever seen that mentioned, now I have to go back and watch that scene again 🤔
Admirals don't get to fly, normally a Captain wouldn't either.
Captains fly a lot. Not as much as LTs but still a lot.
@@zeropoint216 not in the Navy, a Captain is equal to a Full Colonel. They may fly occasionally to keep their wings, but that's it.
I saw this in the theater last summer, and man, what a ride. It was exactly how you follow up on a classic beloved movie.
I enjoyed watching it again with you.
Saw it in 4DX, the theater has smoke, lights flashing, smells, water sprays on you, the seats rumble and move and the sound goes from left to right and front to back. Totally worth it.
A masterpiece of a sequel
We saw this in 4DX and yoooo was amazing. Shout out to all my navy shipmates at NAS North Island, NAS Fallon and NAS Oceana that help participate in this movie. IT2(AW/SW) and Former Plane Captain at VFA-131
Ed Harris Never Left The Scene, He's Been A Major Part Of 'WestWorld' For Years Now
Watched this 4 times in the theatres and damn now I wish I could go again!
Also , my call sign would be Riptide, no clue why but I love it.
That's a great name!!! My smart-ass daughter said mine would be "Oops" cuz I'm supposedly a klutz. I disagree, though.
@@clevelandcbi I would agree with your daughter. As a former USN aviator that's the exact kind of callsign someone who tends to be klutzy would end up stuck with.
Could see that for someone from CA. that loved to surf. Or for a individual unlucky enough to get stuck in a riptide.
It’s ok! Although it’s not in theaters anymore it is on Paramount+ !!!
"That's what my dad would've done."
And the entire theater full of grown men shed the manliest of tears.
Penny Benjamin an Admirals daughter, owns a bar,a sailboat and a Porsche! That's the woman for me 😂😂😂😂😊
Hahahahahah fark that part when Tom cruise is on the ship an an says talk to me goose an you popped in cracked me up 😂😂😂😂😂😂 brah
Another bop
I watched this movie in the cinema - it exceeded my expectations. That doesn't happen very often, and for it to be a sequel is very unusual.
Amazing reaction bruh, glad you enjoyed it.
Your edits crack me up!! Keep up the good work.
This is one of my favorite movies ever! If you get a chance to see this movie in theaters you definitely should. The sound is incredible in Dolby Digital.
Yes!!!! Thank you so much for waiting and releasing it in theatres only!
What You probably didn't know is in the ending scene when Tom Cruise Flys away with his love interest in the old fighter plane that was actually his personal fighter plane From his collection he has several planes that he owns.
He used a jet he owns to help get the rest of the cast ready for the hornet too.
I missed the notification. 😠 But anyway, great reaction bro! This film is an instant classic.
"Don't get my son killed b*tch" 🤣
My favorite thing in the theater was Coyote pulling up over that ridge 😮
Their Helmets are different because those 5th generation Russian Stealth fighters have helmet mounted displays in front of their eyes that let them target enemies with their weapons just by looking at them and that can let you see through the airplanes body like it isn't even there so you can see the sky all around you. The helmets that an F 14 pilot would have wouldn't have any of those features and would be like a traditional fighter helmet with just visor which is what any Russian flying of those F 14s would have been wearing too. So the two Americans flying it aren't wearing something out of place for the Aircraft they are flying in that would give them away as enemies.
Same type of helmet worn by F-35 pilots in the USN.
Loved your reaction ❤😊I absolutely loved this one more than the original. The emotions that Tom Cruise displayed were fantastic.
Mell has the need for speed
Not all the most dangerous maneuvers were done by the cast but the simple flying was. Tom Cruise actually did become an EXTREMELY good pilot for this movie
By the way, none of them were actually piloting the fighter jets due to safety reasons. They were all in the seat behind the pilot so that they could act while still experiencing all the forces and being up in the air
Great job.. keep’em coming!
This movie made it onto my Top 3 favorite movies of 2022 and now it’s one of my favorite movies of all time
Loved your super authentic reaction 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠I saw them Both in the theater 37 years apart! Totally worth that wait⭐️
The way a sequel should be done and almost 35 years later. You had me laughing thru most of the movie!
