Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Movie Description:
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a 2022 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Black Panther (2018) and the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole, the film stars Letitia Wright as Shuri / Black Panther, alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Martin Freeman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Angela Bassett. In the film, the leaders of Wakanda fight to protect their nation in the wake of King T'Challa's death.
Ideas for a sequel began after the release of Black Panther in February 2018. Coogler negotiated to return as director in the following months, and Marvel Studios officially confirmed the sequel's development in mid-2019. Plans for the film changed in August 2020 when Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer, with Marvel choosing not to recast his role of T'Challa. The return of other main cast members from the first film was confirmed that November, and the title was announced in May 2021. Filming began in late June 2021 in Atlanta, taking place at both Trilith Studios and Tyler Perry Studios, before moving to Massachusetts in August, but was halted in November to allow Wright to recover from an injury sustained during filming. It resumed by mid-January 2022 and wrapped in late March in Puerto Rico.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered at the El Capitan Theatre and the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on October 26, 2022, and was released in the United States on November 11, 2022, as the final film in Phase Four of the MCU. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed over $855 million worldwide, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2022. Wakanda Forever and Bassett's performance received numerous awards and nominations, including five Academy Awards, one British Academy Film Award, six Critics' Choice Movie Awards (winning two), two Golden Globe Awards (winning one), and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

At the moment it's mostly disrespect towards Marvel I wager. Remember the Oscars after Boseman died? He was nominated for best actor, they rearranged the order of things so that would be the last category, Anthony Hopkins won it and wasn't there to accept it, and whoever was running the thing cut to credits so fast it was like they were trying to outrun a riot. No disrespect to Hopkins, but that as Boseman's night. Add to that Academy mainstays like Scorsese claiming that Marvel films aren't cinema, and what you've got is a bias even the biggest stars can't escape

I think a lot of people didn’t like this film because they had to confront some uncomfortable topics. Namor is essentially killmonger with a bit more patience and confronting what that would’ve actually looked like. Plus directly addressing Chadwick’s death is never comfortable but the film gave the actors and the fans a chance to say goodbye to such an incredible human being instead of just glossing over such loss. It’s an emotionally driven film and that’s the point. Humans aren’t infallible, logical machines we lose loved ones, we grieve, we blame, we can be greedy and destructive but also protective and comforting. Riri had to play a key role in both grounding the narrative and providing some levity, without her it would’ve been very easy to lose track of exactly how fucked the situation is it humanizes her surrounding characters because if such a normal entity exists in this situation then clearly these are exceptionally fucked circumstances. And without her bits of humor the film would’ve been so damn depressing, tickets would’ve come with a bottle of Xanax.

    This was an unforgettable experience.
For people talking about decisions made, they forget these characters are people, people make mistakes. Shuri was rash because she was still grieving her brother but wouldn't allow herself to feel it. Then it became worse with Ramonda's death and the weight of the throne passed to her. Namor is set in his people's old ways of the surface world as his enemy and it was either accept his offer for an alliance or perish with the rest of them.
But the idea of Vibranium having helped make Namor the way he is was an interesting idea. With the changes of making his kingdom associated with Mesoamerican cultures, it gave me an exciting idea that what if other indigenous cultures had their version of the Black panther or mythical heroes who were altered by herbs grown in vibranium rich soil.
Finally, I did like the introduction of the new prince T'challa at the end as the son of Nakia. It was less recasting, and more honoring the name and legacy of the one who came before him.
Also yeah, they really needed to tone down Shuri's suit, remove much of the gold and leave only a few accents on the suits. Maybe they could've added the pelt near the end, M'Baku giving it to her as a sign he'll be there to help her and offer her guidance as a fellow leader.

I'm guessing a lot of the Riri hate is coming over from the comics, where she's seen as a token character not given enough of a personality. I'm hoping the MCU works to fix the flaws and redeem the character. Honestly, I think Riri's budding friendship with Shuri here is a good start. They're able to interact on the same intellectual level, something that's traditionally hard enough for geniuses without race and gender factors alienating them even further.
As for Shuri's costume, hopefully she gets an upgrade later, but I get the meaning behind what she's wearing in this. Her brother wore the silver, while her cousin wore the gold. So, she wears both here while figuring out what kind of Black Panther she's going to be. It's a symbolic starting point to build from

@@rokudodamaza A couple problems I personally had were with Ironheart and how Churi handled Namor at the end. I've heard from other people too that they had a big problem with Ironheart because she didn't go through the struggles that Tony Stark had with making his tech. She just kinda already had a way more advanced Mk1 suit in her warehouse and then suddenly upgraded to Wakandan tech by the final act. No learning curve, no struggles, no significant character growth that makes her a solidified hero imo. Next was Churi letting Namor go with essentially a slap on the wrist. Like how are you gonna let a hostile nation invade and raze your kingdom, kill your Queen, threaten to do the same to the rest of the surface world and let him go with no consequences? I have other problems as well like Queen Ramonda letting go of Okoye and Namor surrendering when his people were winning against the Wakandans and, as Mell said in this video, just poor decision making throughout the movie. None of these makes the movie bad, I really liked it, but they were just some big problems I had

@@maxdrags3115 She doesn't have to go through anything bad, I just want to see her struggle figuring something out. Make some kind of breakthrough in any design flaw and learn from arguably the smartest person around her (Shuri). But instead she had a Mk1 suit that rivaled tony's MK3 suit with little to no experience in making a powered suit let alone a power supply for said suit and then instantly upgraded to Wakandan tech. It's not like I want to see her do poorly, I just want to see some kind of learning experience.
It's what made Tony, Steve, Bucky, Peter Parker, and most of the other characters introduced likable. There was a learning curve to what they have to do and we watched them struggle and rise above it. I'd be willing to see what Ironheart has to offer in future projects but so far she's done next to nothing to make me remotely interested in her.

I agree at 30:23 about Nakia being a good choice. I think for story purposes it made the most sense to give the herb to Shuri and it really added to her emotional arc. Plus she was BP in the comics at one point. That said Nakia had fighting AND spy skills so I think with the heart shaped herb she would have been very formidable. I did end up liking Shuri as BP though

Riri being the only one able to build the machine that detects vibranium, while being cliché for the times, reminds me of how Tony Stark was the only person to be able to build the Mini Arc Reactor in a cave with a box of scraps. I.E. "Tony Stark built one in a cave..with a box of scraps!!" "...I'm sorry sir, but I'm not Tony Stark." ...obviously I'm paraphrasing somewhat, but you get the idea of where I'm going with this. Sometimes people are capable of doing things nobody else can for whatever the reason.
I also never caught that when Shuri went to the ancestral plain and saw Killmonger, he repeated the exact line that Namor said in regard to the creation of his people, "How is never as important as why."

The US and French representatives in this scene made me want to ask both of them if they'd never been told the story of 'The Dog and Its Reflection' as children - a story about someone who lost it all because they could not focus on what they had, only on what someone else had, and because that because that other figure had it then they should have it instead.
