This one is against organized religions based on tribal religious texts, especially The Bible, it's not against personal faith in some Deity. However, one should realize that all those religious texts are & have been interpreted and used to justify unimaginable cruelties, persecution, discrimination etc., the worst being the idea that man is separate from nature & by some divine right above all other lifeforms, which explains the current almost catastrophic state of our planet.
lyrics are spot on - so many fractures in our world have a root in the fantasy that each of the religions/sects/whatever are THE ONE way. This song speaks, with anger, against the fact that we humans are destroying ourselves and this world based on a power structure that needs to be made obsolete - we ALL deserve better.
    Nuff Said !!!
    NWSU 🤘😎🤘. Hail Nightwish !!!!

Yes, not about the world as a whole but organised religion forcing hate down children's throats (the poison).
A similar message to Carefully Taught: "You've got to be taught, before it's too late, before you are 6, or 7 or eight, to hate all the things your relatives hate, you've got to be carefully taught."

I think this is a perfect example of how Tuomas writes the new songs to really take advantage of Floor's incredible techniques, power and range.
Imagine being Tuomas realizing that he will never have any limitations in his writing!!! Lucky bastard😂
He really let everything loose in his writing, on both Endless forms most beautiful and Human Nature.
And Floor loves the challenges, because they makes her evolve.
    Great reaction from you 👍

Thanks again for reacting again to one of Nightwish's songs.
    I'm a 61 years old mom.
I got introduced to Nightwish through my oldest son. He was at a concert in my country The Netherlands (with Tarja). At the time Nightwish wasn't that big. So after the concert by coincidence he talked to them. They had a very Nice conversation about music (not just the music from Nightwish but, in general). They are very nice/frienly. It was in Amsterdam. So my son missed the last train to go home. It's something he'll never forget.
So I started to listen to their music. My favorite song is: "Creek Mary's Blood".
I knew Floor from After Forever etc.
Yes, Nightwish are story tellers. Allthough I know some people don't always get what they are saying. Since you do have to know some references To understand.
That's also the reason why I like BTS as well. They are also story tellers only in a diffent way.
Yes, music is universel, it connects.
Also I'd like to give you a compliment: you are great in explaining how musicians are using their voice.
You take care, keep going, warm greetings from The Netherlands 👍💜🍀🤘🇳🇱🌷🤗

Let me deviate from the vocal coach reaction realm here and say that, as an atheist, I fully garsp the breadth and depth of the message here! This is a well conceived and perfectly executed scorn of religion and all that it has brought upon our species over the millenia. Christopher Hitchens would have been smiling from ear to ear, glass of scotch whiskey at hand, with this one.

Yeah this song really resonates with me as well. The first 25 years of my life were dominated by religion. Then I found out how much of it was lies and how people accept the unacceptable because it seems normal. So as an ex-Christian this song really goes deep for me. The anger in this song is the same that I felt when I broke with the church. Tribal is a continuation of this topic and I'm glad these songs exist. Incidentally I also love the mental gymnastics that people do to explain this song as something else, but tribal poetry refers to books like religious books like the bible. Male necrocracy is a reference to jesus. I think that the big brain singer knows this but dodges the topic lol

These stories given to us all
Are filled with sacrifice and robes of lust
    Dissonant choirs and downcast eyes
    Selfhood of a condescending ape
Behold the crown of a heavenly spy
Forged in blood of those who defy
Kiss the ring, praise and sing
He loves you dwelling in fear and sin
Fear is a choice you embrace
    Your only truth
    Tribal poetry
    Witchcraft filling your void
    Lust for fantasy
    Male necrocracy
Every child worthy of a better tale
Pick your author from à la carte fantasy
    Filled with suffering and slavery
You live only for the days to come
Shoveling trash of the upper caste
Smiling mouth in a rotting head
Sucking dry the teat of the scared
    A storytelling breed we are
A starving crew with show-off toys
Fear is a choice you embrace
    Your only truth
    Tribal poetry
    Witchcraft filling your void
    Lust for fantasy
    Male necrocracy
Every child worthy of a better tale
From words into war of the worlds
This one we forsake with scorn
From lies, the strength of our love
Mother's milk laced with poison for this newborn
Wake up child, I have a story to tell

As always a like from me! But I agree with multiple commenters here that this song is not about the state of society. This is song is anti religion/ideology. On the sadly defunct Nightwish forum where I commented as abcconjecture ( yes, many decades ago I was training to be a mathematician before I shifted to IT where you could actually make some money, why do you ask?), there were long and passionate threads about this song. Since the forum lost their database, I can only reproduce a couple of things from memory. First, Tuomas had a grandfather who was a minister. Second, three band members identify as atheists. Three, one or two people threatend to burn their Nightwish albums because of this. Four, some people tried to limit the religion/ideology part to organized religion/ideology.

But when "churches" and their representatives starts to scare people to obedience with "hell" and "sin" and "halal" and "haram" - That is when it is time to start question what is the reason of it all; Is it for mine or their (i.e the religion, cult, sect etc) benifit. Example: Floor Jansen cannot be a Rockstar bc she needs to be home to cook and clean and raise her daughter. No intelligent person would say that to her...so it also shouldn't be a suggestion for any other woman.
Like I said, maybe I misunderstood some inside joke with this particular woman... but if not, the tone was totally sexist. And if that behavior is not addressed, some men will continue to view women not as equals, but as servants to a patriarchal ideology that has no place in present society.
I'm not trying to be confrontational, but unless you have a vagina and have been treated as lesser than by the opposite sex, maybe you can't understand how women feel about such things. I hope I've helped you to be enlightened, tho.

I'm not a nasty or unreasonable person, I would welcome a 'hey I'm sorry you misunderstood, or if I sounded sexist'...and I would put forth a forgiving energy. Just like that. But ignoring or dismissing a woman's concern makes him seem guilty of a cowardice, an inability to acknowledge a perceived slight against half the population, and grow from it. I'm not a young woman, I do not tolerate disrespect. I am very simply drawing attention to something I validly felt. Most men who use 'that tone' either don't realize it, don't care, or no one has ever spoken up to explain passive aggressive sexism to them.
