tuomas anted to compose the "Life and times of Scrouge McDuck". He approached the author, and asked his permission. He gave it.(thinking that tuomas was just another muso) when Tuomas presented him with the finished works, the autyhor said that this was EXACTLY how he'd imagined it to be.
Don Rosa has always been more famous in Europe than at home in America. He announced in 2008 that he had stopped making cartoons due to eye problems and other reasons. In 2013 Tuomas Holopainen got Don Rosa for his project to make the record cover and to draw for the music video. Don Rosa: "When someone makes a record of my comic book, it’s touching. I didn't think this was going to happen. Tuomas played the music for me even though it was not ready yet. It was so great that I cried."
Just a quick story. My life, I thought I knew it all. There are things in life I wanted and I almost didn't stop at nothing to get to that goal. I thought money and keeping up with the "Joneses" was the way to go. To keep it short, it affected everything around me including my marriage. I was so obsessed with the comings and goings of the world and my wants I was blinded to the important things in life. My wife, my family and my inner circle. And it did get to the point where I almost lost everything because of my ignorance.
I've been a fan of Nightwish for just under a year. Finding them thanks to Chase and Tank. I first listen to this song through your channel. To sum up Nightwish is my favorite and now my wife's favorite. Tuomas is my favorite musician. She loves Tuomas. When I listened to this song, I took a step back and realize how wrong I was in a lot of thing in life. I made big changes in my life and in no small part Nightwish, Tuomas and even you Chase help to save my marriage. This song is incredibly important to me and my wife. My thanks to you Chase. If it wasn't for the fact of discovering Nightwish through your channel I might have never of taken a pause in my life to take stock of what's really important to me....
High Hopes - Nightwish (Pink Floyd cover) It's just Marko and the boys and you will enjoy it for sure.
The Donald Duck comics are a huuuge thing in Finland. Almost everyone has had the comic delivered to their doorstep at one point of their life. Don Rosa is especially popular in Finland, and he has visited Finland several times. I've read his biography and he says that the Finnish fans don't compare to anyone. He likes Finland so much that he even made a comic based on our national epic Kalevala, called Quest for Kalevala, or Sammon salaisuus in Finnish. I've met Mr Rosa once and he's absolutely wonderful. His Donald Duck comics stand apart from any other Duck artist because of his style (there's so many intricate details) and especially the stories. They are often based on history and Mr Rosa has told that he spends quite a lot of time in doing history research for the comics he writes. I have learnt so much about history from those comics. If you ever get your hand on those comics I highly recommend them. I also recommend listening to the who Life and times of Scrooge McDuck album. It is beautiful.
Yess, this is what I was about to say as well. The Donal Duck comic is more popular here than any of the tabloids or newspapers except "Helsingin Sanomat" which is like the Finnish equivalent to NY Times. Don Rosa is an amazing artist, definitely my favorite of all the people who've made Donald Duck comics. As a kid I didn't like his stories and drawing style because they seemed kind of "dark" for me, but as I grew up a bit he became my absolute favorite.
That's really interesting. I wonder what about donald duck connected to people in Finland on that level. From an American pov i was shocked when found out tuomas was doing a concept album on scrooge mcduck...It just felt weird. Of course as we know it turned out to be nothing but sheer brilliance as is typical of him.
@@DeadreavahTheSecond It's great to see a character connect with so many people. Guess from my perspective he was just seen as a cartoon character so it's pretty cool to see others have a completely different take.
@@RaineRed We Finns love the underdog, the looser. The magazine is not called Mickey Mouse in Finland as in most countries, but Donald Duck in Finland (Aku Ankka in Finnish). We dislike Mickey Mouse and mostly find him irritating compared to Donald. Mickey is too "know-it-all".
@@marieskavo7159 glad to see! as an american i never got the appeal of mickey as a kid. i was more a donald fan and of course looney toons :P i still find it amazing toumas managed to turn it into music...such a fking genius.
Concerning numbers: I will always believe in quality over quantity, personally.
We're on the same page, Derrick.
@@ChaseCarneson and you are hand down one of the best. My appreciation of the finer musical details has dramatically increased, and developed, because of you. I can't be the only one. And this is why we have missed and are super hyped to have you back.
@@samuelengle3773 Agreed. Out of the countless reactors on UA-cam, there are only a handful which I have kept an interest in. The one key factor that they all had was that they did more than just simply "react". The ones who dig deep and analyze the content are the ones that I stick with.
"someone called Don Rosa" 🤣
Yup. Just some nobody who happens to be the greatest Donald Duck artist of all time 😂
Well now I know 😂😂😂
In Finland, where...erm...graphic novels are a much appreciated art form, Don Rosa was a superstar even before the Tuomas connection. Apparently he's nowhere near as well known in his home country.
Right, that's because Donald Duck cartoon has decades long history in Finland, being the most popular comic and periodical publication. All kids read it, Don Rosa is as well known as most famous book authors. I own myself a few of those hard cover big albums that have Don Rosa's art. When I was a kid, Wednesday was the best day of the week, as that was the day Donald Duck cartoon came.
"Yeah pause, deal with it" " 'cause I wanna" You are such a dork and I love it♥️😂
The finest things, in life (music included), are worth waiting for.
Sensei has been away sharpening his sword =)
My guy!!!! Let’s hope I still have it.
In a Tuomas interview saw, he said it took 2 years to write the album, and they couldn't show the face of Scrooge McDuck due to Disney, so that is why Don Rosa is drawing him with his back to us.
If you can find a copy of the interview he did with Maan Mainiot, he actually has a copy of the Life and Times book and was talking about wanting to write a soundtrack for it. (Interview is in Finnish but you should be able to find it w/subtitles)
Idiotism by Disney...what they got to loose? A huge fan tributes the character with this complete artwork...should be win win for them all. But from back Scrooge is awesome looking the gold field forest.
Jack Chalker, a very successful writer, wrote the first "unofficial" biography of Scrooge McDuck, long before Don's award-winning effort. To get around the Disney ban, the cover of Jack's little pamphlet showed only Scrooge's glasses, cane, and top hat :).
@@johannessilver8653 Disney doing Disney stuff.
You are much loved, Chase Carneson. Thank you for coming back and sharing yourself with us, despite illness, heartbreak, and a full work life. We appreciate you and care for you.
My wife SweetTea1105 and I were both teary eyed watching this Chase, because we have both missed you and reacting to Tuomas's compositions so much there are no words as to just how much. Between the music which we were very familiar with naturally, and your facial reactions to this as it was unfolding before your eyes and ears, this was a truly magical and spectacularly fantastic return to some of THE BEST reactions on the internet. Period. *mic drop*
Found Rest Calm after a long while, didn't remember how beautiful this Nightwish song is ❤️
The concert they did in a virtual world was great and any songs from it would be good for you.
The absolute joy in your expression warms my heart. ♥️
How'd I miss this because seeing you in a list and hearing you again, "Was like talking to an old friend". Hope all is well Chase
Tuomas said he wrote this album the same time he wrote the endless forms album. Genious!
Tuomas's Cold Heart of the Klondike is another one that hit me right from the first listen. You would appreciate it for sure.
My favorite too and Tony Kakko’s voice is perfect for this song.
That's my absolutely favorite one from this album!
This one is so great!
Yes. It's my favorite too from this album.
Whoa, that song was beautiful
In case no one mentioned the quitarist is Mikko Iivanainen, the husband of Johanna Iivanainen, the other beautiful lady singing next to gorgeous Johanna Kurkela, the wife to Tuomas. A funny thing, seeing a reaction by Chase to anything anyway related to Nightwish, i click the thumbs up button even before the video starts. Solid work. And yes you said his name perfectly. Good to see you :)
Same here, I click on Like right away and reserve the right to remove it if I feel that Chase didn't do a good job. So far, I've never found a reason to do so. 😊
bonus, johanna and johanna have made their own project called "altamullan road", that has some amazing songs on it
Seriously? I'm a Finn myself and didn't know Tuomas and Johanna were together. I do like both of them on their musical careers. And now that I listen to this song for the umpteenth time I feel quite stupid to having not realized Johanna Kurkela's voice is the one I'm hearing.
Tuomas as a composer is of course a topic on another level but Johanna collaborating here and on Sonata Arctica's album some years ago raises her value in my eyes greatly. She has just an amazing voice tone and dabbling with musical genre I like very much is just absolutely awesome.
Then again Tuomas and Sonata Arctica's Tony Kakko being friends it makes sense for both of them to know the same amazing vocalists like Johanna, though it is expected that in small place like Finland everyone knows each other.
All in all, thanks for this precious info.
Welcome back chase. Blind guardian just released a new Single "deliver us from evil". I would love to see you analyse and react to that one.
Big Nightwish song you have missed is Weak Fantasy from Tampere in Finland. You will love it.
Didn’t miss it, I reacted to it with Julia Nilon on her channel. Was great.
Glad to see you back. THE LAST SLED is another track you should check out. thanks for this one.
I'm so happy to see you back. I'm even more happy that you feel ready to be back. We've missed you so very much.
The Last Sled is my absolute favorite track from this album, I want to get a tattoo of Don Rosa's album art of the moon with the quote "fortuna favet fortibus" because of the breathtaking way those lyrics hit me in the soul. This whole album is always a must for road trip listening and you should absolutely hear ALL of the songs!!!!
I've got almost the same idea for my next tattoo. I want the Klondyke album cover to go around my right calf (?) with Scrooge on one side and the moon/Goldie on the other, and the same lyrics (but a bit longer). I might add an older Scrooge under this, leaning on his memories-chest in the bin, dreaming/thinkning the above picture.
Absolutely agree. That quote in particular, hits me like that too. Awesome to read that happens to other people too :)
WELCOME back CHASE I miss the honesty and technical knowledge you bring so we can appreciate music more.
I've heard this a couple of times & I think you'll love it.
Personally I think it reminds usjust how good this man/composer is.
Glad to be back. Looking forward to filming many more to wrap the year up.
@@ChaseCarneson Apart from Nightwish this was a long time favorite of me from Tuomas. But the top spot recently has been taken by "Pearl Diving" from the new Auri album. At first I thought "yeah, nice", but after a few listens I think its one of the best songs ever due to its story telling, how the different parts fit together and its emotional content.
@@deeteenw Pearl Diving was written by Troy.
Here’s a rare Nightwish recommendation for you! Their cover of The Heart Asks Pleasure First! 🥰❤️ Toumas wrote lyrics to it and rearranged it and many people don’t even know the song exist. It was meant to be on the Dark Passion Play album but Michael Newman didn’t give his approval in time so it was released as a single. Very beautiful arrangement and vocals by Anette!
I’d also recommend Last of the Wilds, an instrumental song also from Dark Passion Play where Troy gets to shine.
Or if you want more of Anette - ESCAPIST! The best song with her in my opinion! 🤩🙌🏻 The album version - very symphonic, melodic and heavy all at the same time.
@@louisea5669 I wholeheartedly agree, especially with The Heart Asks Pleasure First - Tuomas did an absolutely amazing job with its arrangement. And regarding its postponed release - I even heard that Michael Nyman very much disliked this rearrangement - Tuomas even wrote on the old NW website back then that Nyman detested it - I remember the word specifically (he may have seen it as a heresy to his original) and for a long time he was refusing to give the approval for its release. He only gave in, reportedly, after a continuous train of email bombardment from NW fans (who probably just knew of the existence of the NW version, but likely never heard it; they just knew it had to be good when it came from Tuomas's pen) but only approved it with grinding teeth, and he still does not like it to this day. Nevertheless, what really matters is that the rest of us love it :-)
Oh man....many will tear me apart now. I hear Oldfield as I would imagine him today. With the infinite possibilities of technology... And I can't give Tuomas more praise!
An oldie back in the Tarja era, Creek Mary's Blood, is a very beautiful and special song that I don't think a lot of people have reacted to. Deeply underestimated if you ask me!
Creek Mary's Blood is my all time favorite song! I'd love a reaction to it.
“Look another Chase Reaction!”
“When can I watch this when I can give his analysis the dedication that his analysis gives us.”
Johanna is one of my favorite singers here in Finland. She has some beautiful songs. Welcome bsck Chase :)
Hi again Chase. Long-time subscriber here. I love your reactions and I also loved that you had a chance to see Nightwish live in May, as did Carol, my wife of 41 years, and I. This, along with Tuomas and Johanna's collaboration with Troy for Auri, is so wondrously beautiful. I have loved that Nightwish performed so well on their 2022 European Festival season. Their sunset show at Hellfest 2022 in France was amazing. ARTE (French and German television) posted the entire live-streamed video to UA-cam with Nightwish's blessing and it has been viewed 2.1 million times in two months. A week or so later they performed at night at the Deichbrand Festival and that was even better (although the full concert video and a lot of reactions have been taken down from that show). I am so happy that Jukka Koskinen has now been officially accepted as a member of Nightwish. His bass lines are incredible and between Floor and Troy, they are covering the parts that Marko once did. Hope you get around to checking their summer 2022 gigs out. Thanks once again for the lucid reactions to Nightwish.

Yes, please! I love this song 🙂
I remember hearing their cover of The heart asks pleasure first as an outro to one of their shows in 2009 and that was the best part of the show! At that point in time we didn’t know if we would ever get to hear it
That connection with Ducks in Finland is hard to understand. Tuomas and all others have been raised with Aku Ankka( Donald Duck) in Finland. We have been heavily influensed with early Carl Brks and later with Don Rosa.
Dear Chase, I feel you are one of the very few people who really really deeply understand Tuomas' total genius - hearing and focusing on every single detail which adds to the beauty and perfection of his stunning oeuvre. To me, Tuomas is the most genius composer of our era - and you are the one who can make clear where the magic comes from. But, furthermore, you're not only a brilliant musical analyst but a great emotional soul, too. What a connection of two diamonds, shining even brighter together. Thank you so much and all the best wishes from Germany!
❤
Welcome back Chase! A bit late I know but only just recently discovered reaction videos, thank you for this review, without it I would not have discovered this album for a long time yet. I had to stop your reaction half way through and go find and buy the album to listen to as a complete entity before carrying on.
Rannoch Moor is not that far from where I lived in Scotland, it is a magical and wonderful place and never twice the same when passing over it, it can be bleak and majestic or spooky and ethereal.
My kids (kind of) forced me into watching $crooge McDuck when they were young and I must admit that I liked the Duck Tales so this album has really struck quite a chord with me.
Again Thanks Chase, onwards down the rabbit hole of Nightwish Tuomas and Floor :)
Your enthusiasm for the music is infectious and so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for great videos.
Good to see you again, glad you’re feeling better.
Still dreaming of a Nightwish concert with The Philharmonic live❣️
It feels so good to have a reaction that adds value again. Such a contrast to “guy that went to the market once and bought bread reacts” type of content.
Nightwish brought me to your channel, and now I am totally hooked. I suscribed after the 2nd video but obviously I joined very late to your journey, and thanks to you I have discovered new groups, and had such a laugh with your reactions to Nanowar of Steel and Eskimo Callboy.... I am hooked to them now! In any case, I absolutely love everything Tuomas does, so you cannot be wrong with anything you choose. My suggestions would be 2 songs from Imaginareum that might surprise you: "Slow, Love, Slow" (there are several live videos on this both with Anette and Floor) and "Turn the Mermaids Loose"(only album version) this is kind of a folk song which it is fantastic. These are quite different to the normal Nightwish sound.... then, other super strong suggestions would be "Gethsemane", I have no clue of guitar skills, but for what I've heard, Emppu does quite a job in this song! and from Oceanboar, i enjoyed a lot Stargazers. Bless the Child would be another one, but this are more catchy normal songs; then you have Tuoma's side project: Auri, with Johanna Kurkela y Troy or a rarity, a song he composed to raised money for a children hospital where many finish singers from different styles joined their voices in a very beautiful song ... the name is Lothü (this is totally out of metal and symphonic, but still,,, i felt it was a pitty that not many people know it). Anyway, I could see that you and your family have and are passing a rough time to say the least, and just want to send you a warm hug and a massive thanks for your work here.
There are only a handful of reactors that I will sit thru a 20-30 or 40 minute reaction video. But you are one of those select few. Your educated, insightful, and well spoken reactions are always worth the time.
I'm sorry if I'm repeating what someone in the comments already said. But about the harmony-singing lady next to Johanna, her name is also Johanna and the two Johannas have a music project together called "Altamullan Road". I recommend their song "when it's time".
Dear Chase,
Hey!!!! Nice to see you again! Im a huge Nightwish fan. Just saw your playlist of Nightwish reactions, 02 times. 😂😂
I want to recomend some old stuff, here we go:
Wanderlust, Gethsamane, Stargazers, Sacrament of Wilderness, Passion amd The Opera, Crownless, FantasMic, Beauty AND The Beast, Beauty OF The Beast and Dead to The World (live from Summer Breeze).
If you could, put some others really good songs too, Cadence of Her Last Breath and Whoever Brings the Night.
NightWish all the best!
Viljo, another Nightwish fan.
Stargazers live at Tempere!
@@louisea5669 yeeeaaahhhhh!!!
Welcome back Chase. Yes, the main singer in this one is Mrs. Metal Mozart, Johanna Kurkela. The guitar solo is done by Mikko Iivanainen, who is the husband of the second singer Johanna Iivanainen. The two Johannas have a side project of their own, Altamullan Road, which is well worth checking out too.
Great to see you again Chase. Sorry to hear about your illness. Hope you fully recover soon. yes this is Don Rosa. Yes this is Johanna. She sounds like a forest pixie. Such a delicate and bright sound quality. Yes you will see Pip Williams in some of the pictures. Your reactions are like spending some time with a close friend. A very intelligent and musically knowledgeable one. All the Best Chase. Hope your holiday season is wonderful. HADGD yourself!
It warms my heart to see You back in the saddle again, so to speak.
Greetings and felicitations from Finland!
Good to see you back Chase! Kids these days don't know how to pause smh
I am astounded on a regular basis at the depth and breadth of Tuomas' talent. That is the reason I never have a problem with the direction he takes Nightwish, the wonderful compositions with Auri and going back to his younger days with Darkwoods My Betrothed. Wonderful reaction as always Chase.
I think that the Auri II album should be on your list, starting with "Pearl Diving". Johanna, Tuomas, and Troy do an amazing job. Something I learned while listening to an interview, Troy does a lot of the songwriting for Auri. We tend to forget that he is also a songwriter and that this is his genre. Tuomas wisely gives him some space; another reason to respect the man.
This.
What a great tip with pearl diving.thanks alot 🙂
I'm just as glad as everybody else to see Chase back:-) There is also an interview with Tuomas and Don Rosa all in English by Radio Nova in (at least) 4 parts.
"Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova - part 1"
Omg I can’t wait to see this 😍😍 Good to have you back Chase ☺️
Thank you. Hope you like it!
CHAAAAAAAASE welcome back! Thank you for the reaction
On the album, there are actually 2 versions of this song. Love ❤️ all of it. It is a master 🙌 piece of Thuomas for sure.
You asked for recommedation. One overlooked masterpiece that no reactor has reviewed is "Nightwish and John Two-Hawks - 16 Creek Mary's Blood (HD)" live version from infamous Helsinki concert. It´s something differend in good way.
I love how the guitar solo ends with the lead melody to sort of wrap up the music story at the peak point. Thats just genius.
It was great reaction. Good to see you in good form. Congratulatiin of 60K. Take care about yourself and HADGD.
Great to see u again, especially with a song like this. Story goes, Tuomas went to see guys from Nuclear Blast saying like "I'd like to do this thing, it's like a soundtrack to a comic book..." NB: "Great idea, do it, we'll back u up!" Tuomas: "Umm...u do understand, it's not gonna be anything heavy?" NB: "Listen, Tuomas, u can do anything u like and we'll be behind that 100%". True story. Suggestion: NW - Meadows of Heaven
Yeah that's pretty much how it went. I don't know if those were the exact words but still.
Finding Floor and Nightwish last year you were a constant person I watched. It is great to see you back and being sentimental, I missed you. Pearl Diving by Auri would be my choice. The covers by Floor on her channel may be good choice.Good to see you back.
You are just genuine! Thank you for you! Don't care what everyone is saying.

@@ChaseCarneson loved it mate, like a great band playing new songs and old favourites - “get in”, “palm mute gang”, back to the beginning, fighting talk about pausing..........my personal request would be for a song by Myrkur; love her combination of folk, black metal and simply stunning vocals. Have a damn good evening yourself.
Hey there fine fellow from rainy Oz. I really appreciate the bravery of watching your cogs turn online, as amazing sounds and arrangements wash over your eardrums. After years of being lazy at figuring out music structure, I am now a baby on that journey - and minds like yours' are helping me a lot. Continue being a wise and inspiring "kook".
Thank you Chase! Your reactions have opened whole new world for me. I have no musical talent what so ever. Your way of reaction has made me appreciate song writers talent and skill
Welcome back! Please consider more Auri songs: Desert Flower from the first album, Pearl Diving from the second (masterpiece!).
OMG one of the best songs Tuomas has ever written! I was hoping to see your reaction on it for a very long time now and I am excited that this moment is now here 😍
This song always reminds me of my trip to northern Finland where I saw amazing northern lights in a beautiful cold and snowy area.
Edema Rhu and Endless forms most beautiful please and thank you (Nightwish obvs )
Welcome back Chase
Great to see a reaction to this! You make interesting observations, thank you!
So happy you covered a track from this staggeringly beautiful album. Other songs from this album I'd love to see covered in the future: 'Glasgow 1877' & 'Cold Heart of the Klondike'.
Anyone put off by the subject material should shrug off any such pretensions. It truly is one of the most emotional albums you'll listen to. Tuomas clearly has a special place in his heart for the original work.
One Nightwish song to go next: Our Decades in the Sun.
It’s from the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album and an homage to our mothers and fathers. It’s a very soft and calm song, but with very delicate interludes - a bit like this one.
By the way, Nightwish is my top most listened band on Spotify the 3rd year in a row - ever since I discovered them 😅
Suggested this many times before, but I’d love you to do Gethsemane. Both the Helsinki 1999 TV performance with the original line-up and the version from the Decades tour in Buenos Aires. Wonderful song and a great compare and contrast experience. Cheers :)
Carl Barks, who created and drew the great Uncle Scrooge comics that preceded Don Rosa's subsequent work, influenced an entire generation of creative types, myself among them. Also George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and many, many others. Don's multi-volume series of graphic novels, "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck", treats Scrooge's life as a real one and incorporates numerous actual historical events and locations, from the Klondike Gold Rush to the building of the Panama Canal and the eruption of Krakatoa (bet you didn't know that Scrooge met Theodore Roosevelt while both were punching cattle in the Old West and that Scrooge suggested Roosevelt give up the cowboy life and go into politics). Don also did a wonderful full-length comic that places Scrooge, Donald, and his nephew within the Kalevala, as a bit of a tribute to his legions of Finnish fans. You should read The Life and Times...very much for adults as for younger readers.
Dude, your smiles at a couple points, so genuine. Loved it. Actually heard this for the first time last night, I saw your reaction video but it was just the countdown, and I’d be asleep by the time you put it up. So I did some homework on the song. I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of Nightwish before your videos, and that’s my genre. This just brings in a level of respect, though. One doesn’t “just” record a piece like this. This was beautifully arranged. Good to see your smiling face, kick that cold mate!
Hey Chase the 30 second brigade will never like you or your knowledge, let alone the masterpieces you share and break down for us music loving mortals! That guitar, it is a Strat, looks like a Strat, smells like a Strat and sounds like that the moment it is plugged in. Not sure about the neck though! It is not in the Pink Floyd processed way but a little more organic.....and hey I am a Strat playing Drummer...what do I know, lol. Stellar job my friend out of Africa. Toumas you are my go to genius and love the mini homage to a Disney musical ending!

Every week for God knows how long, there's been published Donald Duck comics in Scandinavia. I loved reading them as a kid and growing up. The comics no doubt helped me learn how to read and develop a vocabulary at an early age. They also sparked the interest in historical events. The story of Scrooge's life and past is one of my absolute favourites; it's well worth a read. And I think when you've read the story as a kid this song and video really hits home. Major nostalgia trip.
Hi Chase. Just nice seeing you back. Hope you're in a better place man :)
Hey Chase, so great to see you back. If you want more Nightwish/Tuomas, I don't believe you've checked out the 2nd CD of their latest album, the orchestral piece "All the works of nature that adorn the world" - I absolutely love that music and would love to hear your analysis. The only issue could be its length, as it's over half an hour long (though divided into 8 songs).
glad to see your videos again!! glad you are feeling better as well:)
more nightwish? heres some suggestions:
stargazers, tampere
high hopes, end of an era
endless forms most beautiful, music video
the siren, studio/end of an era
for some non-NW recommendations, i cant praise lorna shores new EP enough, its masterfully written and played. the lead singer (will ramos) has some vocal playthroughs of 2/3 songs on his channel too which you might like!
I absolutely love that you are back again and reacting to videos! You are doing a hell of a job and I hope you keep on going!
A Lifetime of Adventure is a very special song because of Scrooge McDuck. The idea of the character is that he loves money above all but for a brief moment he shows that the true love was the adventure and the hunt for treasure. This is what the song captures magnificently.
Love your work, all the best!
Great to see you back - great reaction too! All the best
By far the most competent, educational and thorrough reactions ever. Chase, you are just awesome, you deserve Tuomas and his music in your life!
Nice to see you get excited about what you hearing :) Well done sir!
Oh how we have missed uou Chase!!!😍 Wishing you a quick recovery from what ails you🙏🏻💙
Sweden here, regarding Don Rosa drawing Scrooge McDuck with his back "to the camera". We had an uproarious thing happening in the 90's. We have this cartoon called Arne Anka (Arne Duck) and he looks very much like Donald Duck. A big difference is that Arne is a deeply cynical alcoholic with strong views on politics and society in general. Disney being Disney of course sent a not so nice letter to the artist. How he solved the problem is both hilarious and brilliant.

Tuomas is just a genius. Period.
So happy to see you back Chase!
For song recommendations:
Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Auri - The Space Between
I really like this song from Tuomas, in addition to his work with NW (and some songs from Auri).
I would also suggest everyone with any interest in fiction, books, stories etc, to read through Don Rosas Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. It is one of the best pieces of fiction ever written, in my opinion. And please do not mix it with Ducktales or somesuch, it is something completely different. It takes Scrooge and tells his tale from little boy through his adventures in Klondike, Mississippi, Australia, and other places, to be the richest person in the world, to the eventual fall from grace with his family and relatives, to his lonely elder days, to raising back to his feet to fill his legend with the help of Donald and the nephews. It is just immaculate story.
This was a real treat! Thank you. And for the pauses: most other YT reactors don't pause at all, they just sit there and say 'wow'. With you we learn and grow. Thanks for your care and attention.
For future reactions, may I please suggest NW's High Hopes once more? This song kept me on my feet this last difficult 1,5 years. For me it stands for overcoming troubled times and it's also a massive Marko tribute. And two beautiful Emppu solo's as well :-D
I second this request, it's an amazing performance 💜
Nightwish's High Hopes cover, YES PLEASE. Chase is gonna be mindblown 🧠💥
Wowwww!
High Hopes gets me - every, single, time. Love love love their cover of it.
I agree, I love Marko on this and I think ti's better than the original, which is very rare. Thanks , Chase
I adore your reactions to Nightwish and anything Tuomas, Chase. I’ve been following you for many months now and it’s brought me great joy, and greater appreciation for the details of this amazing music. Love from Alaska. ❄️ ♥️ 🎶
Welcome back Chase, this little (not so little) comunity has been missing you for sure. And you're back in full with this beatutiful tune. As for recomendations, I dont recall you reacting to "High Hopes" cover from Nightwish. You probably heared already but would be nice to have your insights on that fantastic cover. Be well and healthy. Cheers from Argentina!
PS: I asked this a long time ago but it would be great to see you with Tuomas an a 1 on 1 interview, just saying, there's must be someone out there with the power to make it happen :-)
Welcome back. The Scrooge album was a pleasant surprise. Not a surprise in that the music is great but the fact a project like this is even done anymore. It's just love and music. Can't imagine many were asking for a Scrooge McDuck soundtrack album but it waa made that well and we kinda don't deserve it.
Two from Nightwish to consider: Slaying the Dreamer (Buenos Aires 2018) and Bless the Child (Wacken 2013). Also, Auri had a new album out this year you might want to check out. Pearl Diving would be my first choice.
The whole album is well worth a listen, but my absolute favorite song from it, is “The Last Sled.” It is such a beautifully composed piece!
Very glad you are back and feeling well! I have and do appreciate your reactions and musical insights/analysis, and regret that I have not posted that earlier. And thank you for rugby and violin laughs in this vid!
Loved the comments about hearing a flute or whistle, thinking its Troy even in the larger scope of life. Great reaction Chase, good to see you back.
Glad you enjoyed it
The whole album is amazing you should do every track Chase you will not be dissapointed..
....while reading the comic book.
it makes one want to go out and read the comic book!
I totally agree!
@@recentisland1513 It happened to me :D I had to buy that book when I heard this album!
Hiya. You must be ill - I only counted 9 full pauses and 1 mini-pause, but I might be rusty, too. Congrats on the 60k. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Lol haha Thank You!
I had never heard this song until you announcement yesterday, but I love this. Johanna’s voice is stunning!
Angelic.
I believe u havent done Shudder before the beautiful from Nightwish, imo its one of their best ones. The Wembley version is the best one atleast for me. Good to see u back Chase
Yes she is his spouse, Johanna Kurkela. She is a very popular singer here in Finland. One of the best
Great to see you again and with one of my favorite songs of all time! The fun fact is that Scrooge McDuck and his nephew Donald have been super popular in Finland since the 50s and Don Rosa is considered a big celebrity in these hoods. Don Rosa really did wonders with Scrooge and you should really read the Life and times of Scrooge McDuck if you can get your hands on a copy =)
Maybe it is weird to feel some sort of "friendship" for a guy I only see on YT. But here you go... It is not necessarily about quality so much, but way more about sincerity and overall "you-ness" that makes you stand out. Continue to be you!
Oh my, how much I've missed you!! And I'm absolutely sure I'm not the only one. Chase you're still one of the very best reactors out there. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, welcome back and have a damn good day!!
