Well, that just shows how good Nightwish is at writing and performing their music - because they made you feel the way you were intended to, without even catching the deeper meaning of the lyrics. Oh this was soo good, I think better than I expected. It's great how the 2 of you both have fantastic inputs without treading on each others toes. The mutual respect is evident. Not sure how much time and effort goes into putting these together but its all worth it! 🙌👌❤
Weak Fantasy is one of my absolute favourites. The "wake up child, I have a story..." section is just SOO well done. and I love the emotion expression of Floor thorughout the whole piece. It's also, as they say "a banger".
Wow! That was a treat! Brilliant collab with Chase. I hope that this becomes a thing as I've noticed a few other reactors starting to also try cola vids. Awesome stuff. Here's a band for your consideration: The Warning - 3 sisters (the Villarreals) from Monterrey Mexico. They are Daniella "Dany" on guitars and vocals; Paulina "Pau" on drums and vocals; Alejandra "Ale" on the bass. This is one of their songs called "Black Holes" performed live at the Dakota Bar in 2018. Back than they were 17, 15, 13 respectively. For this performance, Pau steps away from her kit to play the keyboards and sing while her sisters provide backing vocals. Nice hormonic layering especially at the end. When listening to the lyrics, this is a heavy song about addiction - and it was written by Pau when she was 13!! Also, despite the heavy nature, Pau is smiling at the beginning because she realized that the audience had started singing with her. Link: ua-cam.com/video/lM8KeQ_tNQc/v-deo.html. - Wil.
I will take the dare to make the following short playlist of songs that, me as a crazy fan of Nightwish i higly recommend, you should listen, react and analyze: Yours Is An Empty Hope Panthom of the Opera (with Tarja) The Islander Thank you for all your effort and dedication to
Oh this is a nice idea. Julia focuses analysing singing technique, and Chase analyses melody and instruments. The only thing missing is the lyrics analysis, what the song is all about, what the story and the meaning is. Well done both of you!
Great reaction! I only have notifications turned for three reaction channels turned on and you guys are two of them. I'm starting to look at Nightwish as having two lead singers, with one singing the bulk of the vocals. It's subtle, but in many songs, Floor drops back behind Marko, and then powers into the lead at the right moment. They swap the lead position back and forth. Now for a Nightwish reaction with the two of you only with Captain Pause as the host!
Oh dear! Chase, Tank and Julia, you are now The League of Reacting, or something like that, because definitely, you have become the most amazing combo of reactors on the internet with the most well built comments in technical, intelligent, fun, and well expressed way ever. You're so enjoyable to see and listen. My three favourites. Thank you for an awesome reaction, I'll be waiting for more. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🖤🤘🏻
Gosh, imagine checking your phone at 11 on a Friday, to find your two favourite youtube humans doing a reaction together at exactly that moment. Too good! Love the conversations and the detail you both get into, having someone to bounce thoughts and questions off of suits ya both :)
I just want to say I love the collaboration of analysis - The composition breakdown with the vocal analysis together is phenomenal. Please keep doing these!
I'm seriously late to the party here, but I truly enjoyed watching the dual reaction between you and Chase. Having your amazing explanations of vocal tones and pitch along with Chase's knowledge of the musical style choices and applications is incredible. It's literally a 2 for 1 experience as I get to hear you both discuss your specialties and learn from one another.
Now you HAVE to do one more together, where Chase gets to be in control of the pause button, right?! There were several times where I thought he was going to just yell “STOP!!!”, because he clearly wanted to pause the video SO badly, lol. Seriously though - I would love to see more collaborations between you two
When i first heard of this idea i though this could work . Now that I've seen the chemistry between you guys , that was ( Julia word ) EPIC . So well done the way you apricate one another's view on the same song and I am looking forward to your next collaboration , please don't make us wait to long for it . Thank you both again .
The thing that sets Floor Jansen apart in my eyes is the breadth of the vocal techniques/toolkit she has mastered. It gives her an incredible dynamic range of emotion that she can express. Her ability to infuse nuanced emotional queues into her vocals is unparalleled. It makes it possible to fully connect with the listener. She is also extremely capable of connecting with the emotional charge of the lyrical content. Those two things coupled together mean that, when you listen to Floor singing a song, you are 100% engaged with it on a subconscious, visceral level.
Really excited, that is a cool thing to explore, makes you both stand out as reactors. If there can be info, synergy and humor than you are bound to make many people happy! See also The Charismatic voice doing collab in Ayreon - The day when the world breaks down reaction!
Thank you, this was very interesting. Both of you have said that Nightwish songs feel shorter than they actually are, that you don't notice time passing. Had the same thing with this reaction, so I think I'm not alone in wishing for more collaborations 🙂
Weak Fantasy...bones picked, completely broken down, and thoroughly examined. The two of you together.....perfect reaction! Please, please, please, do more reactions together. :)
Loved the two of you together chatting. Love it. Need a few more pauses to allow Chase not to explode though I think ;) I would love for you to react to their cover of Pink Floyds 'High Hopes' with Marko as lead vocalist. If not their is always 'the islander' and 'Kiss while your lips are still red'.
If you wanna hear Marco a little more laidback you only need to listen to 'the Islander' by Nightwish. Preferably from Tampere (this concert). Ps. Love both of your reactions and analysis.
The two of you should do more of these, it's actually really cool to hear both perspectives in the same video, especially how you guys bounce off of each other's comments and explain the same moment from the other perspective.
Great reaction and analysis by two of the best reactors on YT. Love it my friends. Hope you chose to do more as a tandem. It was wonderful and lots of fun and interesting musical and vocal commentary. Hope to see more soon! I am a subscriber to both of you! Peace.
If you want to hear Marko sing more gently, I suggest While your lips are still red. It also happens to be one Chase hasn't done yet, so maybe another collab?
For Nightwish songs that feature Marco, I'd recommend While Your Lips Are Still Red, The Islander, and the cover of Phantom of the Opera that they did on their End of an Era DVD which is a duet between Marco and Nightwish's original vocalist Tarja Turunen. Ghost River (Wacken 2013) is a good duet between Marco and Floor. He also sings on a couple of covers with Nightwish. Their End of an Era DVD features his performance on a cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. And he did a good cover of Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction. I think there's a video somewhere of the live performance from a show in 2004. Marco also did several of the demos for the Dark Passion Play album, since they hadn't hired the new female vocalist yet, though those don't have live video performances so I'm not sure if they'd work as well for reaction purposes. He sings on demos for Eva, Reach (Amaranth), Cadence of Her Last Breath, and The Poet and the Pendulum (including the parts that the child sings in the final version).
Thank you! You both are really easy on the ears and eyes. A lot of talking considering the length of the song, in this case that is a very good thing. You complete perfectly each other - both observing the piece from different perspective. Marco and Floor have in deed great chemistry, almost as great as you two! As someone else already commented Chase was banging many times the imaginary pause-button a lot. Hard. It is nice to see that both of you are mortals as well and not some all knowing beings from another dimension. We all have things to learn, I suppose? Keep on reacting and have a damn good Day!
Floor is a voice teacher, she knows very well how to use your voice correctly. she has had enough training and education to do it the right way. for me she is the most versatile and complete singer in the field of Metal🖤 Great reaction. Still one of my favourite songs of nightwish🙌
Love watching the two of you break down this song. It gives such a nice comprehensive analysis of both vocals and music. Do more Nightwish together. The two of you really understand how this band works, musically and as story tellers. Thanks.
Julia, I see you haven't checked out "The Islander" from the same set as this one was (aka Tampere 2015). There's a song where you'll get a man with a double-necked guitar. And I think you'll love it! ;) Of course he also released a solo album in both Finnish and English last year. Many people might suggest you to listen to "Isäni ääni/The Voice of My Father" or "Kiviä/Stones" but while you're in Tampere why not listen to The Islander that is written by him too. :)
Coming to the end of the video now, the future's bright, the future's orange... Sorry UK advert reference there... But I stand by the sentiment, this was brilliant. Love the Nightwish appreciation society that's developing on UA-cam with the holy trinity of Chase, Julia and Tank covering a spectrum of expertise 🙏🙏🙏😁
There's another guy who has done a couple of Nightwish songs - Dr Marc Reynolds, stage director, performance coach etc. So he's sort of in Tank's wheelhouse in a small way, but while Tank's intimately familiar with the inner practical workings of putting a show together, the types of pyros, lighting, screens and what have you, plus ALL the intstrument tech, Reynolds has the perspective of looking at what the whole picture does to the audience, which is interesting. He's a vocal teacher too, but I really prefer Julia on that.
I like that Chase asks questions to get you going. Love the nerding down into details about how voice works. More of that please! It's the nerdy part of this channel that makes me keep coming back. Nerd more! More! MORE!!
I'm seriously hyped for this thing. Weak Fantasy is both intstrumentally and vocally full on nuances, so you two analyzing it, is a match made in heaven. Was it a random pick or did you know before? EDIT: Aaand I'm back after whatching it whole. PLEASE MORE. Maybe Julia could be Chase's guest next time, but please do this one more time. Very enjoyable and informative.
As it happens, first time watching Julia's reaction was also Chase's reaction to the song I have waited for him to react to. 🤣 This was delightful. 😄 Although it was weird watching Chase listening to music without THE pauses. 😅
I am missing the pauses in the beginning from Chase. First pause was way too late in my opinion :) That being said, I love the collab between the two of you, you complement each other brilliantly.

@@alexstorr3357 With this song I didn't like it as much at first as I did with more listens, so maybe it grows on you
Oh this was soo good, I think better than I expected.
I wasn’t expecting this collaboration, what a wonderful surprise! Great breakdown, you two. I hope this won’t be the only one.
Caught myself watching Chase and thinking "he might have paused here and here and....here. wish I could hear his thoughts on this and that " 😁
- Wil.
100% Chase wasn't in control of the pause button, no way he'll ever make it four minutes into something without a single pause 🤘
Nope haha
I will take the dare to make the following short playlist of songs that, me as a crazy fan of Nightwish i higly recommend, you should listen, react and analyze:
Yours Is An Empty Hope
Panthom of the Opera (with Tarja)
The Islander
Thank you for all your effort and dedication
to
entertain us!
Oh hell yes!! Great collab! Now we just need a collab between, you, Chase AND Tank to have every area covered. That would be such an epic video :D
You should definitely do more Nightwish reactions to catch up with Chase, and do more of these colabs :)
this is actually a colab of my two favorite nightwish youtubers.
Thanks to you both, Julia and Chase, for giving me something that I didn't know I needed. Thank you so much, this just made my morning :)
Oh this is a nice idea. Julia focuses analysing singing technique, and Chase analyses melody and instruments. The only thing missing is the lyrics analysis, what the song is all about, what the story and the meaning is. Well done both of you!
The Ginger Brigade of the Nightwish Army! Awesome analyses! Loved it.
Awww ... that's so cute.
I knew we're probably a lot of things here at the Nightwish army but I didn't think we were matchmakers! 😁❤😊
Chase is a great reactor as are you Julia. You need to do more of these for sure. Chase is trying really hard to refrain from just rocking out 😂😂
Gosh, imagine checking your phone at 11 on a Friday, to find your two favourite youtube humans doing a reaction together at exactly that moment. Too good!
Love the conversations and the detail you both get into, having someone to bounce thoughts and questions off of suits ya both :)
re-listened... even two years later, this is still one of my favorite collab reactions.
Thank you for everything you have both added to my life.
both of you know your business!...that was an awesome analysis of an awesome song and performance.Congrats both of you!...10/10
I just want to say I love the collaboration of analysis - The composition breakdown with the vocal analysis together is phenomenal. Please keep doing these!
Great, the two youtube reactors I like most do a collaboration. I think I'll have a damn good day ;)
I'm seriously late to the party here, but I truly enjoyed watching the dual reaction between you and Chase.
This is the single most enjoyable reaction I have ever witnessed. Chase and yourself are perfect together, more please.

You both Julia and Chase are my favorite reactors. And now you did one together. I really appreciated this one, thank you!
Love it. Need a few more pauses to allow Chase not to explode though I think ;)
I would love for you to react to their cover of Pink Floyds 'High Hopes' with Marko as lead vocalist. If not their is always 'the islander' and 'Kiss while your lips are still red'.
Omg, the best collab reaction ever, and one of the best Nightwish songs ever - loved this guys, please do more of these, you're both amazing 😊
If you wanna hear Marco a little more laidback you only need to listen to 'the Islander' by Nightwish. Preferably from Tampere (this concert).
Ps. Love both of your reactions and analysis.
Or while the lips are still red! That one is so beautifull!🥰
You can also listen to his old band Tarot - they some really great songs that wished that they lasted forever!
The two of you should do more of these, it's actually really cool to hear both perspectives in the same video, especially how you guys bounce off of each other's comments and explain the same moment from the other perspective.
The Nightwish Appreciation Club is welcome to have regular meetings as far as I'm concerned!
Great reaction and analysis by two of the best reactors on YT. Love it my friends. Hope you chose to do more as a tandem. It was wonderful and lots of fun and interesting musical and vocal commentary. Hope to see more soon! I am a subscriber to both of you! Peace.
I love watching both of your reactions! Can't wait until tomorrow!
Chase breaking down composition. Julia breaking down vocals. Hit with both barrels. I love it!
the ginger reactor collab we've all been waiting for 🤘
It finally happened!!!
Both of you - please keep doing these joint reactions. So well done. You both increase my appreciation of already wonderful music.
If you want to hear Marko sing more gently, I suggest While your lips are still red. It also happens to be one Chase hasn't done yet, so maybe another collab?
^ This! Some lovely guitar work from Troy in that one for Chase to analyse too.
They have done exactly this, in case you missed it. It's on Chase's channel (with more pauses :D)
Each of you individually are a luminary of analysis. Together you become a nova, brilliant and compelling. More!!!
Floor is a voice teacher, she knows very well how to use your voice correctly. she has had enough training and education to do it the right way. for me she is the most versatile and complete singer in the field of Metal🖤
Great reaction. Still one of my favourite songs of nightwish🙌
Love watching the two of you break down this song. It gives such a nice comprehensive analysis of both vocals and music. Do more Nightwish together. The two of you really understand how this band works, musically and as story tellers. Thanks.
Ha, I can see Chase itching to press pause
Wow, thanks ! You both just Made my weekend with this collab, About my fave band nonetheless 😃👂👌
I am missing the pauses in the beginning from Chase. First pause was way too late in my opinion :) That being said, I love the collab between the two of you, you complement each other brilliantly.
Again and again with Nightwish one gets that smile of "wow" on ones faces - but the next seconds you realize there are more and more steps of that.
Yes more Nightwish and more Floor!!! React Floor on Beste zangers 2019. Acoustic Nemo and How's the heart with Floor and Troy on Planet Rock. Have a great weekend!
So glad you picked this version, it's the best one, not only Floor stylistic choices which are PERFECT but also the arrangement (they usually don't end with vocals in most versions) and the overally quality of the production/camerawork.
Very educational learning from both of you as always, as well as feeling your enjoyment of this great song.
I hope it repeats in the future!
I can truly see the pain in Chases eyes that he can't pause every 10 seconds and go to the beginning for 10 times.
Oh my, now you two have done it. Have to deal with Floorgsms, now there is the Aussie Gasm. Do more of this, you two have your own reaction harmony. Julia...you keep control of the stops and stops. LOL
This is the perfect mix of accents!
