- Transforming a VW Transporter on a Budget into a Campervan.
Budget Campervan Conversion: Only £800
In this video, I met with Tony from Clarified Detailing and we discussed how he has transformed his VW Transporter, which he bought cheap, into a campervan. His basic build was less than £800 and is the basics of what you need for starting your campervan outdoor lifestyle.

Whether you have a T5, VW T5.1, T6, T6.1 or even an older T2, T2.5, T4, the VW Vanlife scene is amazing, with so much help and assistance available for whatever project you wish to attempt. Panel van, Kombi, Converted Camper or VW California Beach or Ocean, enjoy the freedom van life brings.
The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along.
I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which is removable, TV's on headrests.
Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife is amazing, get out and explore, it's a great adventure.
There are many great camper adventures to come

All you need. Keep it simple. Stayed in a 72 dormobile many nights slept 4, No electric no heater no problem ! Manual foot pump for water and brilliant pop top. For me I'd do simple conversion simple with insulation and power bank with electric hook up but with no hardwired DC electrics. Maybe sink and cooker pod but that's all, no coffeemaker or air fryer etc just space. Great review
Thank you. Sounds great. I was looking at one in a car park today (Bay window camper) and would like one in the future.
Some like all the creature comforts, others just the basics. All about choices 👍🏼
Good setup there, a lot to be learned from a gentleman who is frugal in his spending, but still achieves the same as his peers.
I always say, everyone has a budget. Hes obviously really proud of hie van, as he should be 🙌🏻
@@adiehull Absolutely. He loves it AND he uses it for its purpose. He goes places and enjoys it with his family, making memories 😀
Nice to see Campers for not just the lottery winners.... more of please pal 👍
@@johnpauljones9446 Glad you liked it. I do have some more of this actually 👀
This is how I approached my van, find what I like and figure out a way to build it myself or buy similar parts cheaper.
I often get really nice comments at shows and people can't believe how little I've spent in total. It's certainly not a show van, just built for practicality and family use.
Those lights are very cool
They sure are. I liked mine, but now I have an urge to redo mine 🤣
Multi cookers are so handy too
Did he ever open his bottle? 😂
After we finished 🤣 I fancied that coffee myself 😀
@@StaycationLifestyle You should have nabbed it, he clearly didn’t want it 👍
@@701Adventures I should have 🤔 Need to restock for all my upcoming conversations
Just found this channel. This is the third video so far. A lot of the information is great, but if you don't know what to buy and how to fit it or modify it, it's like listening to a bunch of gas fitters telling their stories about jobs they've done on different properties 🙂 Seems a bit of a closed community in some ways. Great content though.
Thanks (i think 🤣)
I know how to fit it, how to modify it and what to buy. A few reasons I don’t show how to’s, there are people more qualified than me who have channels showing how. What to buy, I do show to an extent, but also mindful of everyone having different budgets.
There are some van reviews coming up soon, new and used with varying specs.
@@StaycationLifestyle thanks. Now you've mentioned it "how to" wasn't something I was looking for as I don't have the tools/facilities to give anything a go. The content you're providing is great, as it is talking through the "what" and the "why" for the whole van experience. Just what I was after.
Maybe a porta potti ?
@@paulr1 Good shout, I personally have one. However, some prefer to use the facilities at the site.
I was looking at this cooler with the Bluetii power station with removable batteries is It any good?
I see anker have one and are giving them away free with the f2000 power station
@@marinejunkies9625 I like it and many others who have seen it.
I don’t believe the Anker has an ice maker and isn’t Lithium ion phosphate.
Another great video. Excellent. Quick question. I took your lead from another video and signed up to Britstops. That was a few weeks ago. Thought I’d have got the Books you exampled. Nothing so far and no links to apps other than suggestions to join up - which obviously I’ve already done. Haven’t got this wrong? Left something out maybe? Any thoughts? Cheers. Moss.
Thank you.
Britstops is now app and website only. They no longer produce the book. Caused a stir when that was announced
Bit disappointing. Got the app sorted so thanks for your help. Moss.
@@markstirling4855 Many people liked the physical book, it is a shame
Great video. I believe that when money is tight and you have a tight budget, that's when you can be the most creative. Regarding getting the bed tested or seats tested, I've installed Ford torneo seats in mine (I got creative on a tight budget 😁). Where do you go to get them tested? I asked a local garage, and they said, "For the mot, just take them out if you want." But regards insurance and selling the van on, how do you go about it? Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Thank you. The bed testing is not an easy thing to do as there are so many factors too it. Without a paper trail of the exact bed, fitting kit, bolts etc nobody would know what’s fitted.
For example are the bolts a high quality product or bought off a cheap website and wouldn’t stand any force.
The MOT aspect of testing a bed is far more straightforward than testing if it’s safe in an accident.
I wonder if you can get that off TEMU? 😅😅😅
@@80nodrog 🤣 Something maybe, other things not
Good to see a good down to rarth guy and build! Will be looking at the detailing products for sure 🫡
@@colinlee5429 Nice guy and loves a bargain 😀
Get in the 1st like 👍
🤣 A van that costs considerably less than yours. Obviously not as new, feature packed etc etc, but he can still have the lifestyle
I love these vans ,it just goes to show no matter how much you spend you can have just as much fun .still looking forward to when you interview me 😀🤟
£800 conversion = £400 bed £250 electric's, £1500 wheels, £500 roof tent ! You do realise yo have a calculator on your phone if your struggling with basic math's son just a thought
Basic 2 bed camper £800. Then extras not everyone needs 🤷🏻♂️ It was clearly explained AND shown in text
Struggling with grammar son. Check your apostrophes.
@@Cous1nJack Have you not had your booster this month ?
@@StaycationLifestylethere’s always one, don’t waste your time
Wheels and rooftent aren't part of a conversion. Those are extras. It was a converted van before those things were added.
