This is the sixth video of my tutorial series on how to build your own “Flaura”, which is my Do-It-Yourself, Open-source project.
Flaura is a smart, self-watering plant pot that comes with the following features:
3D printed housing
Integrated water tank
Soil moisture measurement
Automatic watering
Rechargeable battery
Arduino Code
App control and data display
Push notifications
Consider watching the introductory video, to learn more about the features and my future plans with Flaura: • Flaura - Automatic, Sm...
I will release more step-by-step video tutorials here in the future on how to build such a plant pot yourself. Stay tuned! 😉

I can not believe such a great video has so less interactions, great work, congrats
Great video
Cant wait to watch the coding part and start building this for myself
I do want this project to get finished. I love it!
Is the water level sensor wiring korrekt? @6:18
On the sensor site it's blue orange WHITE YELLOW red black and on the plug site blue orange YELLOW WHITE red black.
I think this can easly be ported to esphome and integrated to Home assistant. You should share it at HA and esphome discord, I am sure this project can gain some traction. This deserve much more popularty.
Hi, where can I get the correct size screws? Not on the parts list. Thanks
Nice explanation. Congrats and thanks for your time to share us!
I'd recommend putting a blob of silicone on the ends of each cable of the water level sensor, leaving only the tip of the metal exposed to the water. Otherwise water will enter and creep through the cables, ending up on the microcontroller.
It's crazy to know that the idea that I had and was making this weekend it's already being making for someone in another place haha.
Fantastic project! Very intelligent guy... 👌
I'm going to make this next week, so awesome
I do have the Gerber files, but don't know if that is included. Thanks for your time and your expertise! From NC, USA.
I have followed your tutorial, a few years late, but I have enjoyed making it. The printing went well, and I have been assembling the electronics and the other bits and pieces. I have been successful in finding the right soil sensor (Amazon, and a good magnifier), and I am ready to dive into getting the circuit board made. Problem - I haven't found the dimensions of the board. Could you pass on this information? Again, I have enjoyed building this up to this point, and really wish to see it through to completion. It's been a wonderful project for a newbie, and I commend you for it!!
Impressive!
Wo bleibt der Softwareteil zu diesem Projekt?
Pleaseeeee, the code 🥺🥺🥺
I'm waiting for your next video, I'm curious what app will you use to replace Blynk. Please answer whether you are continuing the project or no progress at all.
Thank you, btw, I'm working on all your instructions, now it's just the stage of connecting to the application for monitoring and controlling. I hope this project continues...
Klasse Projekt!
Bin schon mega gespannt darauf :D
You had asked if anyone was interested in buying a ready made version of FLORA. I haven't seen any feedback from that survey. I am still interested and I think one option might be to sell a full KIT with all the parts and instructions.
Is it possible to scale the Flaura pot?
Schade nur, dass kein Video mit dem Code folgt.
indeed
how often do I need to recharge the battery?
Hey Martin, Whatever happened to the kit of Flaura? Im working on a project similar to yours, would be awesome if we could collab on this!!!!!!
since Blynk is now a paid out thing I was wondering if we can still use blynk while paying for it? if so can you point me in the right way to upload this and set it up? I really like this project and while I found the ESPHome project for this I found out late after ordering the PCB so im sorta stuck in this one for now
This project is amazing ... I have only one doubt: how you protect water against insects ? is there canvas to protect ? where did you buy these pieces ?
6:21 you fucked up the order of the cables, look at yellow and white.
just wanted to let you know
Yep, yellow and white cables must be crossed on the plug side (confirmed by checking the pin assignment in your code line 31). If already cabled, can also be fixed by replacing line 31 by " const byte waterLevelPin[] = {13, 14, 26, 27, 25}; "
Where I can find code for this project?
Is there any battery charge controller in this project ? How do you recharge 18650?
esp32 has built in battery charger on a pin
I am thinking to add DHT11 sensor to this project. But there is no space for this sensor.
when will the video source code be uploaded ?
Amazing Video, Was just wondering if it is possible to add a Light Sensor?
Why didn't you use the Async Web server library of the ESP32, instead of Blynk?
Very helpful videos once again. Thanks for sharing this.
Did you design the pot in fusion 360?
Is there a discord for your project? maybe as a open source project this could "grow" so awesome. thjere are many people who want to have a coding challenge or just want to approve something already existing
Another Great Video were you going to release the code, or is it up to us?
Hallo, please i need code for this project, please, can share it?
How to setup credentials, unable to load /config page.
I don't like the use of open wires for water level sensing, as it kind of creates the same problems as resistive soil moisture sensors...
hey dude, i hope everything is alright there, since you didnt upload for a long time :( take care!
Oh damn,
5 pots printed, electronics soldered together, everything assembled and now...
What started out as a really professional job turns into a pipe burst.
No activity for a year.
Has anyone got the project up and running and can say something about the software issue?
I need help or at least an approach to a software solution.
Integration into the Home Assistant is needed.
what happened? :( will you post the last video?
Is there a way to contact you via E-Mail, etc...?
Where's the code, man, where's the code?
Water pump not working
Sell the parts please! i already 3d printed everything, i just need the parts as a kit
I AM NOT CLEAR IF THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD IS COMMERCIAL OR YOUR DESIGN. BEST WISHES
