  • This worked. I did end up using a couple of zip ties to keep tension on the cable, but I'm not sure they're needed.

This is awesome.... my 997 is grinding the coffee beans on the passenger side - so I’m getting ready to have this party myself. This is the only vid that shows a repair vs. a replacement that I’ve found, so I thank you for that!

Perfect video. That grinding noise in my 986 was driving me nuts. Thanks for the video! All fixed.

So you mentioned a zip tie to hold the spring but I didn’t do that. Not sure what that meant? Please explain.

      Here ya go, sir!
Here's the original eBay listing I used, but it's sold out:
      www.ebay.com/itm/222873114527
Here's the place that it actually came from though. It looks like they still have them for sale:

Here's the 3D model I made. When I print it, it looks exactly like the original gear (dimensionally), but it just doesn't work. Let me know if you can make it work!

@@Marr_SC thanks! I'm going to try to order the part as a backup option. I've had issues trying to find a site that has the part and will ship to the US but I'm going to try a parcel forwarder. So we'll see how all of that turns out...
In any case I'll give a shot at printing out the model and seeing if I can get it to work. I did just have to send you a permissions request on that link. Thanks again for all your help.

@@dlouw7 Any time! I just updated your permissions and also added another STL file for the rear glass latch if you need it. Make sure you check out that site I linked in the comments on my video. Maybe they can ship straight to you?

@@Marr_SC thanks for the access, that's working now and I'll give it a shot later tonight. Yeah, that site says it can't ship to the US, just the UK and Ireland, basically. But the parcel forwarder should be able to handle getting it to me.

I removed the plastic piece of shit replaced it with aluminium pipe and jammed a rubber bush to keep it in place. Never heard a thing since.

great stuff, just the problem I have, I also have a 3D printer so I could cad up a part and print, but if it is not needed then why do it, great video, thanks for sharing!

yup, worked very well, had to attach 5-6 zip ties at 3 different locations and that eliminated the slack.

Hi I have the same grinding noise. What happened to yours once the blue tube was cut out? Did it function normally? Thanks.

Yep, it works great now that I removed that piece!

@@Marr_SC interesting. I just replaced the regulator. Was fairly tricky to realign the window again in the correct position. Strange thing now is the window won't drop correctly when the door handle is pulled. The motor does move correctly but the window seems to stick. Normal full up and down motion is fine and no more grinding.

@@craigkellum Does your automatic roll-up/down work? If not you may need to recalibrate it by rolling it all the way down and continue to hold the button down for about 5 seconds. Then do the same thing when rolling it up. If that's not the case it may just be an alignment issue. Like maybe it's pressing up against the rubber gasket too hard so it can't move?
