At least the hood was only difficult to close. She took a bite out of a factory worker in the movie.

I graduated High School in 1978, about the same time as Arnie Cunningham. My Christine was a powder blue 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL. I was TA in auto shop at Torrance High School from '77 to' 78. Doc Thompson was the teacher. So many parallels in my life to my favorite film. Thanks for sharing this memory.

Thanks for sharing this beauty! And thank you to the owner for keeping her running!
Admittedly, I'm more of a GM guy myself, but can certainly appreciate the beauty of the other makes cars, and especially the _countless_ hours of hard work put into them... 😊👍👍

Not only was the speedometer converted to a 150 mph Fury version, the Idiot Lights for Oil and Amps and Clock were replaced with a factory looking Ammeter and Oil Pressure Gauge. I believe @furyjim does those gauge conversions.

Well, your car is not only beautiful but it is also still accurate even though it's a Belvedere since most of the cars in the movie were Belvederes and Savoys that were only made to look like Sport Furys, and, in the book the car is a fictional four door Sport Fury, when in reality there was no such car as a '58 Sport Fury four door, so it actually would have been a Belvedere or a Savoy and not a Fury at all. Thanks for featuring this gorgeous car!

Gorgeous car. Even tho the Christine thing is a little overplayed, justifiably because few cars are so engrained into the imagination, any forward-look mopar is an amazing and stylish car, with performance to match. Well done

also in spite that the movie destroyed nearly 30 of these while filming - a bit of me dies each time a car gets smacked up - the Christine connection ensures that more of these cars will live, even 4doors and non-plymouths that get caught up too

The 1958 model year was the high water mark for Forward Look Plymouths. However these were ignored by car collectors for many years until the movie Christine became a cult classic. Since then they rival the 1957 Chevrolet and the 1959 Cadillac as an icon of 1950s cars.

The 50s were such an exciting time of dramatic change in automotive design and performance. The 1957 Plymouth was a real tread setter: first with the double headlights and the dramatic rear fins. You can see the 57 Chevrolet as imitating the tall fins. Of course Cadillac took it to the next level in 59. Actually, the 58 Plymouth was a disappointment in that it hardly changed at all. I suppose they figured: "don't mess it up". They stuck a metal filler where the tall tail lights were - not an improvement.

I know where there's a 57 Belvedere setting in the woods with about 60 or 70 other cars. The old guy refuses to sell anything. Now this car isn't in good shape. It is straight and not rotted out but no interior, engine/trans or front bumper, grill or headlights. And yes, it's red!!! I've been negotiating with him for about 4 years now. He hasn't even seen any of the cars in about 10 years or longer, but he still can't bear to part with any of them.

My brother and I had a car just like this one. It was our first car. Our dad bought it in 1975 for 350$ it was in mint condition. I sure do miss it.
Sadly it was in a head-on-collision, and did not make it. 😢

I always assumed she was a Fury.
Wikipedia says she was supposed to be a Fury in the story...but Fury trim and actual Furies were hard to find for the movie. So they gave her (all of the christines they built) the easier-to-obtain Belvedere trim.
