My 2025 Platinum seen ok so far .
4500 miles
Dude, first oil change in a new vehicle should be at around 1,000 miles. That way you get the contaminates out from the build process, then proceed with your normal scheduled maintenance. Keep the content coming.
Totally agree. I do not agree with Toyota’s 10,000 mile oil change plan though.
I've already exhausted my 2 free oil changes on my 24 I force max and I just turned 11k. Love this truck
Glad your truck is up to Good working order. Smart move on the oil change at 5K, don't believe in the 10K stuff. Keep us in the loop dude!
Im at 4,000 miles on my 2025 Tundra Platinum and had a high pitch bee hive type noise coming from the drivers side mirror when going above 65mph. They swapped the mirror and now its completely gone. Absolutely perfect truck and now way more quiet on the road than my family’s Lexus LX. The new laminated windshield makes the truck so quiet I think thats why its easier to pick up on the noises.
Whether it’s a Tundra or an F150 we shouldn’t be having these issues w/ a new $70k truck. I’m w/ the Car Care Nut on this, “think long and hard before buying new vs repairing what you currently have”.
My headliner near the windshield creaks when it’s cold outside.
Sorry to hear that bud , I’ve been fortunate with my 2024 Limited 4x4 I only had creeping sounds in both rear doors but I managed to fix those myself truck is solid now no squeaks or creeks of any kind even on washboard roads , I do change my own oil every 4k miles though , my truck has about 12k miles on it and so far problem free and out of those 12k miles I want to say a good 3-4k miles have been off road and in canyons with real rough roads as I do use it for hunting and camping all the time . I hope they can fix all of those issues soon , best of luck to ya
How did you fixed the creeping sounds from rear doors? I think I have the same issues with my truck 😢
I had the exact same noise coming from the rear differential. Turns out I had metal shavings in the diff fluid, so Toyota replaced the rear diff under warranty. The problem is the replacement part made the exact same noise… My gut feeling is that it’s a faulty rear diff design.
Interesting... I had the EXACT same issue, plus another handful of problems.
I have owned many new Toyotas. I have never had to have anything fixed on them, just normal service.
I remember there being a few issues on the 2007-2009 Tundra's but nothing like the 2022-current have experienced.
New Toyota is no longer the same as it used to be. This is coming from me someone that’s has purchased 10+ Toyota vehicles in the last 5 years
@ 100% with you my friend. I would never ever buy any Toyota product that’s part of this refresh series.
In fact, I wouldn’t buy any new vehicle that is post 2022 because the EPA regulations are destroying everything.
@ very true. The future of autos is bleak.
@@SuperSnakePlissken cam tower leak, I remember, but after that they were rock solid. Maybe the most reliable truck ever built (until 2022).
Had the same thing you mentioned but had a faint vibration in the pedal on my 23 platinum… sometimes I think I miss that thing then I remember all the littler weird quality issues I had with it and I don’t regret getting rid of it at all.
I also found that the service department in many cases just doesn't want to put the necessary in to properly diagnose the problem often telling you they can't recreate the condition.
Very frustrating.
Sometimes you feel that they have the Aamco Transmission chimpanzees from the commercials of the mid 1980's !!😂
I have found that when you are dealing with a noise with your truck, You ALWAYS have to do a test drive with an EXPERIENCED technician. Otherwise you are just wasting time.
I love tunde x4, but this new one is scary for this kind of $ Thanks for your info . Appreciate it
Mark when you signed for the keys for your truck there were supposed to be two mechanical keys and one key fob. I got a 2024 Tundra Platinum I Force Max 6.5 bed and I picked up my second key fob and only got the fob not the mechanical key either. If you don’t have your second key the person who sold you your truck might have it. Just something that happened to me in Alaska. Great video.
The windshield noise by the mirror has been going on since 2018 . It’s a little white clip in windshield installment that goes loose . The only way to fix is to rip head liner down or get new windshield. Yeah
Good on you to get all of these items addressed. Sorry, that they didn't address all of your concerns. For all new Tundra owners... and in fact for every new ICE owner.... do your first oil change at 1000 miles. C'mon folks.... what is the biggest knock on the Gen3 Tundra? Answer: machining debris in the engine. All engines have machining debris and other new engine detritus. Change the oil at the first 1000 miles and then, every 5000 miles OR every 6 months thereafter. Use high quality oil and filter after every change. Do this and your engine will have less chance of engine failure. Engine repairs are expensive compared to OCD maintenance.
Could it be the rear diff breaking in?
I went into my dealer yesterday for normal service and the seat extension happened to be not working and they happened to have the part and it fixed it right up. Also mine had the loose radio knob so they comped me a new updated one under the other TSB. The new knob is solid and doesn't wiggle. I was suprised they had both parts in stock.
I have a 2016 Tundra Limited, I get the same sound you hear at the top of the windshield. I also had a 2016 TRD Tacoma, the woom woom sound and vibration was so bad in that truck I had to trade it in a got the tundra.
2024 trd limited and I am having trouble with my windows jumping or stuttering on the way down. Both from ones. The dealership told me it is because of rain guards on the truck. I took them off and they are still doing it and they won’t bother with them
I had some noise issues from the drivers side door at high speeds, above 70 mph. Almost seems like the seal on the window isn’t tight. I was told they couldn’t recreate the issue but it was documented. Not sure what the benefit is of them documenting the issue was.
I had the same liner issues. I used some Velcro I got off amazon heavy duty and it fixed mine. Above my head in a few spots.
@killabandit can you share an amazon link please?
I used to get oil samples, analyze in my diesel truck. I’m thinking about doing it in my tundra. They can see any metals in the oil. Also, have you had any issues with the remote start? Mine doesn’t seem to work very well at all.
i have to hold mine down until it actually starts. not sure if that is normal.
105$ for full synthetic and a filter is very reasonable. Just curious how many quarts does it take?
My dealer did mine for cost of oil/filter and labor free on the 5 and 15,000 Toyota care. About $50
Mark I get that same wind noise on my ‘22 more towards the right pillar around the windshield.
Only at highway speeds on a windy cross breeze day.
I own a 2023 tundra in it has the same noise when I do 70 or 75 it goes away if I release the gas or if I speed up
That buzzing wind noise at 70+ was also on the gen 2 tundra/sequoia. It is related to cabin vacuum pressure.
That can be remedied by removing the oxygen from the cabin.
Guys, I haven't bought a Tundra or vehicle in the last five years. What is this second key program about? Did the dealer give you a second key when you bought the truck in the first place?
During the semi conductor shortage, toyota would give you 2 mechanical keys and one fob. A few months into ownership, Toyota would contact you to come get your free second fob
Did you have them check your alignment when you had the 5k done? My 2024 1794 had to have the alignment done when I had my 5k service.
They didn’t mention it needing one. My wife’s 2023 Highlander did last visit there though. I’ll make sure next time they check it.
As an old school auto mechanic I’d have them pull a sample of the rear diff fluid and inspect it for glitter. My 19 Tacoma was so bad with the glitter I got them to replace the diff.
Thank you! I will
Just from you description it sounds like it could be a pinion bearing or the gear set.
Gotta admit I really love my new 25 tundra sr5, only compliant is not a fan of the predator steps. Any suggestions on different ones? I prefer the regular old flat ones but there are so many on the Amazon it’s a bi overwhelming.
@PaulNirschl check out the GoRhino options
I will thanks
I get the same sound at highway speeds between 71-75mph. They heard it, but don't know where it's coming from.
Owner of a 2024 Platinum with 10K miles. Headliner replaced, all 4 doors window runners replaced, Driver leg extender replaced twice 😂😂😂😂 But I still love my Truck 😎 and it has Warranty so I dont care I just take it to the Dealer to get things fixed. All things that got replaced was because of a noise when driving, except the leg extender
I’m always wondering if other new Truck Brands (F-150, GMC, RAM etc.) have the same quality issues… or if it is only Toyota
I have a 2024 Limited 4x4 TRD off road with approx 11k mile on it, purchased in November of 2023. I have the sticking headliner noise above the driver. There is a metallic rattling noise coming from inside the passenger side dash. Not real loud but it's there. The bed makes a creaking noise at times. The throttle response is just horrible. Hard to modulate the throttle when doing slow off road driving. The transmission 1-2 shift is wonky on first startup in the morning. Engine races (fast idle) on every start up. I assume to heat up the cats quickly but very annoying. So far no weird sounds coming from the engine although I feel like it's a ticking time bomb. I really want to like the Tundra but the more I drive it the more disappointed I get. I know Toyota can do better as we've owned a Camry, Solora, Corolla and a Prius and never had any issues with them. Probably going to unload this thing before the 3 yr / 36k mile warranty is up.
I’m too cool for the 1794. TRD pro is more my vibe.
105$ for an oil change.... 55$ here in WI for my 16' Tundra. NOT AT THE DEALER! At an independent Toyota shop... Not one of the quicky shops with 17yo kids working.
Was 5k service free of charge?
Yep, everything was free except the oil change i added
Good luck intermittently at the specific temperature, sounds hopeless!!! The concern at Toyota is getting past the major problems like swapping engines. Not Noise,Vibration,Harshness.
My 2018 platinum went in for both it's free oil changes but it never had a single mechanical issue the entire time I owned it. I wish I never sold that truck. Sold it for $7000 more than I paid for it during Covid.
cool truck. 6500 miles on my 24 F150 Tremor 5.0 and ZERO noises, rattles or hives of bees, only the sweet sweet howl of that coyote >:) cost less than that 1794 and it came with 2 keys!
The noise at high speed could be the fake engine sound system.🤔
Nah i dont think its that. You have to hear it. Unfortunately, i cant get the camera mics to pick it up
oh how the great mighty Toyota reliability his fallen. The only two issues I had with my 17 new and one I brought up they couldn't reproduce and it was very random and seems to have gone away. The right front park sensor would go off after being parked on a hot day and there was nothing there. One I never remembered to bring up the clip that holds the driver side sun shade wouldn't hold when I flipped it down but if I didn't move it I had no issues. Radio software got updated once. That is it since I have had the truck.
Now with it's age and miles getting close to 70K the only other thing that has show up is the center console lid has gotten a little loose Nit pick stuff
I just passed 70,000 miles this month in my 2021 Tundra and it has been absolutely flawless. No recalls, no issues, just gas, regular maintenance and go. Also, I changed every fluid except for transmission at 50,000 miles and did transmission at 60,000 miles. I do not trust Toyota at all with their recommendations. Cost me around $1,000 to change all the fluids and that is way cheaper than the problems that come from going to these insane numbers of 100,000 for fluid flushes. No way.
My work bought a brand new F150 truck, it makes the noise exactly like you described. We took the truck back to dealer chip, the dealership cannot fix the issue, everything made USA or Mexico are garbage.
I change oil every 2500 miles.
Self correction is funny
What dealer services your tundra ? GATEWAY TOYOTA
I use Liberty Toyota 👍🏼
I have no issues with my 23 platinum
they can N$EVER duplicate the sounds,
You didn’t get two fobs with your truck, hmm, anybody that buys a vehicle should always get two fobs. I bought a 2023 GMC Canyon and it automatically came with two fobs. And I know Toyota say their oil changes is every 10,000 miles, that’s nuts nobody in their right mind would go 10,000 miles on an oil change
Since 2023, During the semi conductor shortage, Toyota gave one key fob, with a second one being presented at a later date. Looks like its back to 2 key fobs at time of purchase again for the 2025 models.
Given the turbo issues and unproven engines I would run nothing but amsoil 5w30 signature series oil after break in. You don't have to go insane long intervals because you use the best oil..
If it's not what Toyota specifies I wouldn't use it
@tedbell4416 you just repeated the biggest myth in the automotive industry. That the manufacturer or manual is necessarily the best advice.
My dad's toyota had no transmision specified service interval. The dealer told him it's lifetime fluid.
My honda accord manual said wait until 100,000 km and then drain and fill thd transmission 4 times. Doesn't common sense tell you it would be better to drain and fill it once every 25,000 km?
My mazda 3 burning lots of oil with 5w20. I switched it to 5w30 and that seemed to eliminate oil burn, blowby, dilution. The manual did not tell me to do that. I used my experience and better judgement.
I would suggest using good judgement if you plan on your vehicle lasting. My 1998 chrvrolet c1500 burns no oil. Almost 30 years old.
Frankly I don't care what the manufacturer reccomends. Lost of manual and dealer advice is stupid, incompetent, absurd, moronic, idiotic , etc.
Get the point? These engines and turbos are unproven and after warranty it's your problem.. toyota has a history lately of quality control and engine reliability issues.
I'd trust the manual more than the dealerships
@stevieray1828 if your manual and dealer both say you don't have to change your oil for 10,000 miles or 15,000 km and your transmision fluid is "lifetime" fluid and doesn't need changing ever are you going to follow their reccomendatuon or use your own judgement?
@@mysticjedi6730 believe it or not, the dealers and manual aren't on the same page with a lot of this stuff. The 10,000 mile oil change is recommended in the manual ONLY under certain circumstances, which most people don't fall into the category, and therefore it recommends 5k mile oil change. Most dealerships just go for the 10k interval because it's faster and cheaper...
With trump in the White House , your truck is the least of your worries!!!!!!
your side lost, get over it.....Jesus you can't just comment about the Truck stuff? Gotta put your Trump Derangement Syndrome out over the internet??
All these little nuisances I’ve never had on my Gen 2. Quality Control issues,I don’t need to wonder what will happen next. I’m not in a hurry to trade anytime soon. Living in Iowa with variable temps continuesly what problems could occur I don’t need.🫣👎
