Tramadol

  • Tramadol treats acute or chronic pain and works on the same opioid receptors as hydrocodone, oxycodone and Fentanyl. Additionally Tramadol boasts some of the same activities as the SSRI class of antidepressants including Celexa, Lexapro, Zoloft and Paxil.
Initially authorities ignored the potential for abuse and addiction associated with the drug. It seems less toxic when administered as an intramuscular injection than when taken as a pill. The body metabolizes these forms quite differently. Originally not listed as a controlled substance, Tramadol was upgraded to a Schedule IV drug in 2014.
Worldwide Tramadol appears to be a major cause of abuse. Widespread addiction exists throughout Africa and the Middle East. Side effects of the drug not only include those customarily associated with opioids, but additionally it may lead to problems associated with the SSRIs.
Both an immediate and extended release form are available. The immediate release form is reasonably priced while the cost for the longer acting form varies between $125 and $270 a month for the generic version.

Having said that this drug must never be used for effect or recreationally. And I think certain people are definitely having problems with it if taken at doses higher than 200 mg a day. If you take the maximum of 400 mg for an extended period you are defy risking problems. And the high feeling goes even on the maximum dose after a period of time. So that’s where the problem lies. And withdrawal after getting used to 400 a day in bad. That’s why I adjusted down to 200.

I was given tramadol for chronic pain associated with an auto-immune disorder. This was in 2006. It produced a high no different from Oxycontin or Hydrocodone (I know, I have taken both before). I developed a crippling addiction that lasted for 5 years.
I was being pumped full of these pills because the doctors told me, "It's not scheduled and not addictive, everything is okay." To this day, I'll never feel the pleasure in anything the way I felt when I was on tramadol. 10 years later, my experience with the drug still makes everything in life seem drab and boring.
Anyone who acts like this drug isn't like all the other powerful and addictive pain medications simply has not tried it.

I have tried them all. It's not. Stop spreading propaganda please.
What you can say is that Tramadol is a particularly nefarious drug since it also works as an anti-depressant, which makes the withdrawal hell. I know, as I've been through it many times. I will even agree with you that Tramadol can be worse to come off than heroin.
But it simply is not as strong as oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, heroin etc. It can't be, since the dose you have to take to get the same high will inevitably give you a seizure.
Again, Tramadol can be hell, but it isn't as strong as many other opiates and opioids.

    • @TaylorStJohn-fp9zs
      @TaylorStJohn-fp9zs 2 роки тому +2

I agree with you 100%. I actually found tramadol to be more euphoric and addictive than all the other pharmaceutical opiates and opioids I have taken. Well, I guess tramadol is technically a serotonin-norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitor, but its main metabolite is an opioid. Kratom, tramadol, and gabapentin were a trifecta for me for several years, and together they sucked the life out of me.
I am now on Suboxone, and it has truly saved my life! I might be on it forever...perhaps not. You mentioned the inability to feel pleasure after your experience. In many cases, this will resolve itself with time and abstinence, but in some cases, it never does. Suboxone fills my opioid receptors so I remain free of withdrawal symptoms, but more importantly, it has 100% eliminated all cravings. I barely even think about substances of abuse anymore. Of course, Suboxone is very controversial and is not for everyone. That's why I initially used kratom as a means of "curing" my addiction(s), but in the end, I just wound up developing a $20,000 a year kratom addiction. I tried living life without it, but the amount of sobriety never seemed to matter. My brain was always spinning and in a constant state of restlessness. Life was so boring and bleak that I even considered ending it all. I am blessed to say I have been free of that headspace and lifestyle for over a year now.
Tramadol addiction does exist and is a real problem for many. It's just that the more powerful opioids such as fentanyl and oxycodone overshadow this reality.

He says it's not good for neuropathy, but for me it has been a game changer. I tried the Gabapentin (I did not respond to it, nor at the highest dose) I tried Lyrica which is just as dangerous and new- it works but puts me to sleep at all hours of the day so I couldn't do that. So then I just tried OTC medicines- some in dangerous high doses- my doctor said enough and put me on Tramadol. I've been on it long-term and I am able to function brings the neuropathy pain down to a barrable level. I weigh the pros and cons- and more pros than cons. I am sure withdrawal would be hell like any other antidepressant, or pain relief medicine it should be done thoughtfully under the direction of a Doctor.

Caffeine in Tylenol 3? Idk about that. I know some people get an energy feeling when taking opiates, and I heard another doc on here say that's not a normal reaction, and if that's how your body is reacting, you will probably be more likely to be addicted. Because opiates make MOST people dopey or tired. Tramadol didn't work for me, it made me feel funny and sick, not high. But if I were you, I'd just ask your doc for it instead of the Tylenol 3. Because buying from Mexico is prob not a good idea, I mean the risk of brining it back over the border. Idk.

It's an snri. Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. SSRI are selective seratonin reuptake inhibitors. Tramadol is an SNRI. The common snri's are Gabapentin, Cymbalta, and Lyrica. You can talk to your doctors about them. From people I know who suffer from depression, they seem to prefer snri over the ssri.
Snri's do have withdrawals though (not addictive, but you'll feel sick as hell if you miss a dose) so if you take them, make sure you take them everyday at the same time.

Cymbalta is excellent for pain at 30 mg. It made me sleepy. I need more energy than that so I do Physio instead for sciatic pain. But Cymbalta is a huge success. It is an antidepressant SNRI

I've suffered with treatment resistant depression for 30 years.
Tried every antidepressant there is & nothing worked at all - even tried ECT and that didn't help.
The only thing that ever helped my severe depression is tramadol.
However since it became a controlled substance about 13 years ago I've been unable to get it prescribed.
I was only on a once a day 200mg time released tablet years ago and it was the only thing that ever lifted my crippling depression.
But since it became a controlled substance I can't get it prescribed.
I've been suffering with the treatment resistant depression ever since.
Tramadol is a good & safe medication & it's a shame it gets such a bad rap.
Imagine suffering with severe depression & being denied the only med that ever worked. It's a travesty because tramadol is effective for treatment resistant depression.
You're totally correct with your comment because it does help with depression.
I don't do drugs or even smoke marijuana yet I can't get the only med (tramadol) that even works for my depression.
No it's not some hardcore opiate as this Dr on here tries to make it out to be. Technically it's not even a narcotic.

Tapentadol is good to replace tramadol if you need higher strength pain management, but before you ask for that, try going to get massages and physical therapy and stretching. Or you may try to take a tylenol with your tramadol and that will make it more effective, but only do so when your pain is worse, and then when your pain levels lower, then you must cut down on tramadol a little. Also do not listen to this quack alarmist skin Doc, he treats acne only, and is not qualified to treat pain or depression, so he is way out of his jurisdiction to be ranting and whining about this subject.

This info is outdated as far as Fibromyalgia. After being forced through the "first line drugs" for fibro which are antidepressants and all had terrible side effects plus withdrawals Tramdol worked for me. There are studies showing Tramdol for fibro can work as atreatment and patients gave a 9.2 out of 10.

I take just 50mg tramadol twice a day and I take it purely because it’s so bad coming off it, withdrawal even on this small dose is awful. Here in the UK tramadol is a controlled drug and has been for several years now.

How did tramadol destroy your life
Is it fair to say you ruined your life by abusing it
      I’m in tramadol
      It saved my life
      Out of anxiety and depression
      I only take 50 a day
      But not every day
      I’m now 10 days without
      No problem
I might take it later if needed
If you abuse any drug you will have this issue

tramadol is anti depression drug, because it makes your mind lazy and relax so your mind skip to think the reality, you feel happy after using trama, because it stop your mind working abnormally according to normal people. I have take 300-400mg tramadol a day for nearly 2 years after my severe accident. but the pain still there but your mind doesn't feel just because of tramadol, am trying to completely stop tramadol now.

Im sadly addicted, to me its the 2nd best drug ive taken (after MDMA), got an euphoric feeling like mdma but like half the potency, plus the hydrocodone high, feeling an orgasm through my body, the best part is that if I stayed still i would feel the body high, but if I stand up and start doing something i can do it really well, like im not high at all, its a really functional drug for me

  • @Vincent-rd5xb

It has to be said that, like codeine, it shows the so called "ceiling effect". It means that unlike pure opioid agonists, you can increase the dosage until a certain amount : past that amount, it won't work anymore. Its analgesic effects won't get any better, but the subject will only feel side effects. Thus, increasing its dosage overtime is completely useless and dangerous. This doesn't happen with its "stronger brother", Tapentadol, which is actually, since they are not pure opioids mu, kappa, delta, and sygma agonists, but Venlafaxine - derived meds. Venlafaxine is antidepressant. This is the reason why withdrawals are a real nightmare, even more than heroin, morphine, oxycodone and the likes. Tramadol and Tapentadol are basically modified Venlafaxine, able to act as an antidepressant and at the same time having a weak ability to bind on opioid receptors in our brain.
Thanks for your video, doc! Great job as always 👍🙏🏻

After a while on low dose one tan 50 mg day I started guy slowdown .. slow digestion .. acid reflux bad… not absorbing vitamins! I had to stop taking tramadol .. it’s a wonderful drug for fibromyalgia pain burning in muscles! Maybe I’ll be ok as needed low dose! I’ve put 40lbs in weight on with gut slowdown and took a while to figure out what was causing it! 🤷🏻‍♀️
It interacted with Cymbalta causing skipped heartbeat .. I’ve been itching thinking it’s MCAS but after a few days off the med my itching stopped! I was sleeping a huge amount with no desire to think.. I knew this was not like me .. it’s great for fibromyalgia.. I’m pretty upset as I know my burning muscle pain will return but I couldn’t continue! $19 for 90 with good RX discount..
it has different ingredients depending on manufacturer and this I had no control.. I would get severe headaches with some ! Why can’t these drugs be offered in topical form cream or patch.. less side effects! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Originally, I took this medicine back between somewhere between 2014 and 2016, for about six months, and when I realized I didn’t need it anymore I threw it away. I didn’t have any side effects. Started taking it in 2022 and I’ve tried to get off of it just to see how my back would do with the pain, and I have terrible side effects that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, if I had enemies! I don’t understand what the difference is, I think they messed around with the chemicals in the pills because I didn’t have this problem in the early 20s or mid 20s like I am now. That’s 2 50mgs three times a day. I’ve tried getting off the medicine several times, and I get very depressed, lethargic, and I have this weird brain zapping crap going on. I did not have that when I originally started taking the medicine many years ago.

I got prescribed it once at the emergency room, in the aftermath of a hap-hazard root-canal of a terrible tooth and facial abscess. It worked against the pain, which was amazing. But my body felt uncomfortable and I just couldn't sleep right. I won't be taking this unless there are no other options.

People physiologically can be so different and Tramadol didn't seem to effect me as far as pain but makes me feel odd like to much antidepressant.
