Hi, I have a question, I guess I should've asked my instructor during actual class time but I'm now scheduled to take my skills test this Tuesday. My questions are: if the state or the nursing board always feel that raising the bed railings are a restraint but also don't want the patient or resident to fall out of the bed, then how come the rail isn't up to prevent a fall? The second question is, if many of the residents are quite weak or elderly then how would they be able to clean themselves without making a mess or tipping over the bed pan or even falling over? Just desire clarification if you're able to answer both and thank you so much for the videos. All the skills that I did in class is coming back to my remembrance.
Hi Nurse Jar! As far as the bedpan goes, does it matter if I put the bedpan on the overhead table while I gather the rest of my supplies or do I have to wait and get it until i'm ready to use it for infection control purposes???
My thoughts exactly so from what I'm currently learning (exam is tomorrow) you have to wait until you gather all your supplies. Also she forgot bath blanket

@loveleen6111 Your instructor should tell you who your testing vendor is! When teaching manual skills, your instructor should be teaching you how to perforn the testable skills as required by that testing vendor. What state do you reside in?
@loveleen6111 Okay. So, Credentia is the testing vendor for California. However, Headmaster has recently acquired a contract with this state, as well. Unfortunately, Headmaster has not yet publicized which region in California it will admit the NA certification exam for. To be certain, I would strongly advise you to ask your instructor which testing vendor administers testing for your region.
Hi Nurse Jar, so from what I see here I must say I would wash my hands after returning bedpan to drawer and removing gloves? If so is this exclusive to Texas?
Hi, Yvette! In REAL LIFE, this is true, but for testing, it is okay for you to place the "clean" bedpan on the overbearing table (when collecting supplies). But, you do not want to place it on the table after removing it from underneath the resident.
