Yea all these videos say "skip ahead" if you're not doing the touchpad, but you skip ahead and it's missed about 5 necessary steps that were part of the touch pad section. Feels like nobody actually proof read/watched the video without context
@@TheGameOverBoys The kit for BDM 030 is the same as BDM 010 and 020, but for the BDM 030 you have to solder the cables provided in the kit in order for it work. You don’t need to solder for the older BDM 010 and 020 unless you want to remap the L and R sticks
@@ExtremeRate yes, it seems the light button isn’t visible like it is on other controllers i customised with your backbuttons.. although my mic isn’t working (can’t hear people, they hear me) but I don’t bother opening it up again because everything works fine with a headset on 👍🏻
I just installed the clicky trigger kit and rise 2.0 for the bdm 30 and didnt get a red light spent hours taking it apart and in the end it was the fpc cable not lining up with the mother board . Was about ready to launch it out the window but it's working a treat now 😂
Soldering is turning me off from purchasing this & the English “if you don’t need ___ button can be mapped to rear button” is so confusing. I just want to be able to press x on a paddle without soldering. If I just plug ribbons in will I be fine with it still working?
I think a tip I would give to help with aligning the yellow ribbon with the motherboard, is to use the screw driver (or similar small rod that can fit through the holes) as a pin to temporarily help align the thing.
@@shamasmahroof8054 What do you mean? If you are asking if you need to attach the wire/ribbon even if you are not going to use the kit for L3/R3/Touchpad. Then the answer is no. If you are not going to bind L3/R3/Touchpad you can skip soldering, or attaching the L3/R3 ribbon to the main ribbon cable
@DeScruff at the 10:10 minute mark if u could look at that please where he puts the Eva tape on. Is that part also necessary if not using touchpad or L3?
@@shamasmahroof8054 So I am not 100% sure if it is necessary at all. Its meant to help apply more pressure on the ribbons for better contact. If you have the tape might as well do it.
Thanks for these paddles. I have 4 of these funny enough. I was thinking when would we get back buttons for the PS5 controller ? The paddles are good but they do feel like an extension on the PS5 controller. I feel if we could get back buttons which are not too extensive ( like the ps4 ones ) but sit a little deep into the shell of the controller with the intention of it being part of the controller will be great. A membrane style back button like the face buttons of the PS4 controller will be something new to the community.
I wouldn't mind trying buttons, but think I'm that used to paddles now they might feel weird! Guess it would be nice to have a choice as I've no idea what percentage of people prefer paddles and others who prefer buttons. Them new half dome button on the Edge seem interesting
@@CraigsChannel yeah the paddles are nice but when I swap to my default PS5 controller I realise how much space the RISE4 takes. Trying something different like the buttons will be nice but I understand the rumbles get in the way when trying to do something in the handles.

Ive had my back buttons on for about a month now and theyve been good. But today i noticed theyre not reacting as much even though the click of the paddle sounds fine. I have one set to jump the other to interact/reload and theyre both kinda not reacting properly.
After installation my controller will not turn on. It will light up orange when connected to a usb C cable but that’s all the response I get. I took it apart a few times to make sure the batter was connected correctly and I have also tried making sure the button sensor pad was flesh and free of dust. Nothing has worked. Please help!!!!

What's the purpose of installing the EVA tape under the original fpc board? Also can't you just put the remap fpc board on top the original like normal? Similar to the BDM 020 installation of the remap fpc board.

I installed the kits on my 2 controllers,after approxemately 1 week playing with both controllers i suddenly have stickdrift on the right analog stick,on both controllers at the same day!How can i try a reset?What can be the problem,i know there was an update of sony for the dualsense?I cannot reach the reset button on the back due the risekit..Hopefully you have an idea to reset or solution for the issue,thank you in advance.The risekit works perfectly and i soldered for all buttons
I lined up and put EVA tape under the original FPC cable and the yellow one wouldn’t go on top of it, I tried doing it as you have in the video and sticking it to the mother board and it stuck but when I go to put my motherboard back in, it won’t click on the right side (the side where the Added EVA tape and FPC cable is, it just won’t click in. I have an 020 kit with a 030 controller… i did that same thing 2 years ago when i bought a 010 kit for an 020 controller. Why is sony doing this? Do they know about your product or something? How am i supposed to know a controller is 020 nowadays?
lol In fact, they did it for cost down of the controller, as you can see the 030 structure is more simple than 010 and 020, less components, they can save lots of cost.

as soon as i connect the orange remap cable, my d pad and L2 & L1 arent working, without the cable, everything is working, whats wrong with this kit ? i reinstalled it 3x. there were no problems with the bdm 020 kit tho EDIT: i repositioned the EVA tape (and probably the remap cable too again) and now everything is working !
If i dont need the l3 and r3 do i still Need to glue the ribon cable at the battery because i want to do battery replacements in the Future but if Glue the ribon on the battery i cant replace the battery
This was helpful and clearly laid out but ya do move at speed. For us fat fingered folk dealing with an iPad that you have to scroll back over and over again and then you go far back and then too far forward....well a little walk to clear the head saved the early death of the iPad😊 Great product though. Thanks! UPDATE: A testament to the build quality....put it all back together and realized I forgot to put the Option and screen capture buttons in so had to reverse engineer it which was a major hassle. The speaker button fell off and couldn't get it back on but not a great loss. The little piece attached to the mic cable also fell off but again, not a big deal for me. Put it all back again, didn't work! Had a feeling I forgot to plug the battery in so went back in again, yup dum dum. Put it all back together AGAIN and now works solid. Great little product and all the parts and cables took the back and forth without a problem. One thing though if you have big hands just breathe deep. You'll get there but it is very finicky. And not your fault at all but the parts and screw driver look much bigger in your hands than in reality but probably because of the zoom.
Hi Craig on the bdm 30 do we still need to change the side stripes or is just the mother board I ordered the wrong kit but extreme rate was kind enough to send me the bdm30 but only got the back mother board
Sorry for a late reply, this one's the extremerate channel not mine so just pop on every so often. With the new 30 there's no need to replace the side ribbons which is awesome news as a few people were fitting them wrong on the 10 and 20 kits this 30 means less to go wrong

Sorted it, opened it back up and played around with it but it actually turned out that the light was super dim, so I had to put my hand over and make shade to even notice it

@@Rowbane depending on which one it'll be the rumble for the right or left motor. Have you a soldering iron? It literally needs a touch with it and it'll reconnect. If you don't use the vibration feature like me maybes just leave it?

I ordered the BDM010 and 020 kit but I have a BDM 030 controller. Do I have to buy a bdm030 kit or can I get the 030 cables replaced. I emailed but no response
You need a bdm 30 kit for that. Bdm 10 you need a bdm 10 kit. Bdm 20 you need a bdm 20 kit. The kits need to match the controller for it to work properly.

@Takiyaho I've not yet had a BDM-030, been looking for one in case I need to do anything on one bit none have popped up. If you press L2 or R2 you can look inside the button and tell which version it is from that. The 030 has a tiny little spring visible
This kit seems much simpler with no removal of ribbons. So is it really just stick that orange ribbon it and its ready pretty much if you don't want to solder?

Mine didn't come with metal rods smh. I checked every bag 5 times and all over my desk.. nothing

If im installing the quick triggers and the remap kit do i need to reconnect original fcp strips for triggers or are they not needed anymore (the white and blue) because in the quick trigger video they tape those out of the way

If you don't need the L3 R3 and touchpad buttons mapable to the paddles, then you don't need the soldering machine

Hi my controller works fine but there's no light from the paddles. I accidentally watched the rise4 tutorial while doing it but skipped all the soldering. Any ideas?
Sorted it, opened it back up and played around with it but it actually turned out that the light was super dim, so I had to put my hand over and make shade to even notice it
what if i dont want to map the R3 and L3 and also the touch pad can i still use it for the buttons?????

Just skip the soldering process in the video, every other buttons still works

I was wondering if I broke a wire on the motherboard, do I have to replace the whole controller if I don’t know how to solder or can I just leave it alone
Have you broke something or just asking? The only wires are really for the vibration
@@CraigsChannel yeah, one of the black wires come out from the motherboard when I flipped the motherboard out with the thumb sticks
@@Rowbane depending on which one it'll be the rumble for the right or left motor. Have you a soldering iron? It literally needs a touch with it and it'll reconnect. If you don't use the vibration feature like me maybes just leave it?

I ordered the BDM010 and 020 kit but I have a BDM 030 controller. Do I have to buy a bdm030 kit or can I get the 030 cables replaced. I emailed but no response
You need a bdm 30 kit for that. Bdm 10 you need a bdm 10 kit. Bdm 20 you need a bdm 20 kit. The kits need to match the controller for it to work properly.
It's a great video well explained if you want to map the touchpad and the R3 L3 buttons. I ended up ruining a ribbon cable and bought a new one. I watched this video again and realized I didn't have to do any of this trickery if you ARE ONLY GOING TO RE MAP THE SQAURE, TRIANGLE, X, AND CIRCLE buttons. I know you added text to the video. But next time do it for us ass-wipes that don't pay attention, and say it in words. lol Thanks

@Takiyaho I've not yet had a BDM-030, been looking for one in case I need to do anything on one bit none have popped up.
If you press L2 or R2 you can look inside the button and tell which version it is from that. The 030 has a tiny little spring visible

did you check the version of your controller before buying it?
This kit seems much simpler with no removal of ribbons. So is it really just stick that orange ribbon it and its ready pretty much if you don't want to solder?

@skippy2831 I ended up getting one and yep it's just how it was in the video 😂 no extra ribbons and no need to solder unless you want to.
I install mine and it doesn’t wanna turn on at all I got the BDM030 what can I do ?
Please try to make sure the connection between the original buttons film and the kit's main flex cable is fine
