I love how they tribally play this groove over and over until it's in your soul, and just when uve had enough it elevates itself to a funk unfurled prog tastic heart muscle spasm. Perfect
I was listening to this song walking one day and at the 6:00 mark dark clouds rushed overhead, and high winds started gusting liked crazy blowing me all over the road. It was really an experience. @ 8:30 it started pouring rain! Ill never forget it.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure they're connected with otherworldly forces. First time I listened to bedlam in Goliath, I was unusually anxious for several days.
this song makes me feel like there's nothing i can't accomplish. it makes me strut down the street in the full spectrum of my power... everybody better look out!! :)
I have literally had this song stuck in my head for about a month. Typically when this happens I listen to the song to get it out of my head... It's not working. I wake up almost every day with this song in my head.
@DubGanger potential audience isn't the only thing that makes something approximately rated. Rating comes directly from the amount of people who appreciate the album. So yes, radio play may effect that. But I'll ask you this, how many truly appreciative Volta fans came from "radio edits"? "Radio edits" are, in my opinion, the antithesis of what the Volta embodied as a group.
From someone who saw ATDI first tour opening for The Get Up Kids in the 90s and followed all the bands that split off through out the 00s and 10s , this is my favorite Mars Volta album. Its so underrated.
I hope John Frusciante and Omar rodriguez-lopez eventually just make a group they can sound so much like each other. I read a quote from Anthony Kiedis where he says Omar rodriguez-lopez helped John Frusciante come out of his shell and almost embraced being a rockstar and loud
I love how this song creeps up on you at the beginning, like a game where the boss approaches, and doesn't reveal himself until the music begins. Love this album!
A mi también! Me cambió tanto la cosmovisión y la percepción de la realidad, que ahora vivo bajo un puente y desapegado de todo (I'm not joking) meanwhile next track is Chop Suey from SOAD.
I find it very difficult to label a favorite, so fair's fair haha. I think it's a pleasure to listen to pretty much every song on all the albums. While I do think De-loused is my favorite overall, I find that I nearly change my opinion every time I listen to one of the other albums. It's like that with most of my favorite bands - like Coheed and Cambria... I really don't think it's possible for me to pick a favorite album by them. Silversun pickups as well, every album is ...outstanding. Far too good to pick.
Foreign Truth that's there most popular and deepest album. But sadly amputecture is thier most talented album. Also the most well structured. This album puts deloused to shame
This is my favorite thing about this band may not apply to everyone. When i heard these songs, it was the highlight of my life, and the soundtrack to my heyday. I can't believe these songs are approaching the age they are, and my memories are the only thing that accompany them.
por cuando te vi enfermo con mentiras este ladrón, cuenta se dio trampas mal hecho de trampas te lo juro que yo si te mato y con cada día que se pase recuerdate quien era el más poderoso
+Nerdanimol Kidrool Mahavishnu Orchestra are THE SHIT. Inner Mounting Flame.... flogged that album so hard. Birds of Fire.. Goddamn. Mars knows the good shit.
I have loved the the Mars Volta since the first time I heard De-loused in the Comatoruim.....but this song is in a league of its own! unfuckingbelievably brilliant and sexy!!!
i remember being totally mesmerized by this band back in 2007, discovered them through the amazing john frusciante. saw TMV live in 2008, brilliant. sad to see theyve broken up, but this song is one of many gems that will live on forever! :)
man I really wasn't a fan of this record when it first dropped, but now it's easily one of my favorite Volta albums. best line-up, too. Juan's gotta be my favorite bass player of all time.
I payed real, American currency for the physical copies of this album, The Bedlam in Goliath, Frances the Mute and Deloused in the Comatorium. No regrets.
Easily my favorite song from Amputechture. And then transitions into my second favorite Day of the Baphomets. Mars Volta has always been better in the studio and this song is an absolute standout in their discography.
This is and Day of the Baphomets are the best songs off this album. In my opinion, here's how I would rate them best to worst: 1. Deloused in Camoratorium- Chaotic, beautifully crafted, the perfect album 2. Frances the Mute- The best songs on this album are the best they ever wrote, but that whole dead space in the middle is whatever. 3. Bedlam in Goliath- This album hauls ass. Super glad they won a Grammy. 4. Amputechture- A mixture of great songs and whatever songs 5. Octahedron- Teflon and Cotopaxi are great, the rest is whatever 6. Noctourniquet- The Malkin Jewel and a disjointed mixture of meh I know there is Tremulant, Scab Dates, and other rando releases, but not sure where I would slot them.
Oh, man, you should have just not started writing this post. Frances the Mute is an Art piece...and that "dead space" is like the "white space" that makes every painting a masterpiece.
The ambient and musiqué concrete sections im Frances are excellent, though if you're a fan of just popular/rock music I understand why they'd be alienating

It's like they found this groove and didn't let go. Would you?
I was listening to this song walking one day and at the 6:00 mark dark clouds rushed overhead, and high winds started gusting liked crazy blowing me all over the road. It was really an experience. @ 8:30 it started pouring rain! Ill never forget it.

r/thathappened
The base rythm is so perfect I could listen to it forever. Thanks Mars Volta for just being Mars Volta.
This music is bizarre and I can't stop listening to it
this song makes me feel like there's nothing i can't accomplish. it makes me strut down the street in the full spectrum of my power... everybody better look out!! :)
If someone ever gave a compliment like this to me, I'd be absolutely fucking humbled.
I have literally had this song stuck in my head for about a month. Typically when this happens I listen to the song to get it out of my head... It's not working. I wake up almost every day with this song in my head.
6:05 " ladies and gentlemen, john frusciante, JOHN ANTHONY MOTHERFUCKING FRUSCIANTE"
their most under appreciated album..
the most under apreciated mars volta album is noctourniquet it could be octahedron but i like noctourniquet better
Adam S Taylor My favorite for sure.
shoulda uses vermicide

@@Ty91681 agreed, every Volta radio edit I've heard is trash
From someone who saw ATDI first tour opening for The Get Up Kids in the 90s and followed all the bands that split off through out the 00s and 10s , this is my favorite Mars Volta album. Its so underrated.

WOW good analysis
I have always associated the opening of this song with the intro to a boss battle... with ×0 potions
forgot how good this is...goddamn
this was the first Mars Volta album i heard and it changed my life forever 💚
startledcalf
mine too!
Why
My third. Deloused was my first then Bedlam. I think I like this one the best tho.
NEVER. BE. THE SAME
A mi también! Me cambió tanto la cosmovisión y la percepción de la realidad, que ahora vivo bajo un puente y desapegado de todo (I'm not joking) meanwhile next track is Chop Suey from SOAD.
heavy grooves detected.
Nobody else mentions it but I like the little synth drum loop in the intro
If this is your first mars volta listen, you have to check out de-loused in the comatorium
I seriously think every one of their albums is amazing. None are quite as good as De-loused in the Comatorium but they're all so, so awesome...
I find it very difficult to label a favorite, so fair's fair haha. I think it's a pleasure to listen to pretty much every song on all the albums.
While I do think De-loused is my favorite overall, I find that I nearly change my opinion every time I listen to one of the other albums.

Oh yeah? I'll keep an eye out for it. It's just so insanely difficult for me to make up my mind on these =)
Heh, just enjoy the process and it'll be cool!
Foreign Truth that's there most popular and deepest album. But sadly amputecture is thier most talented album. Also the most well structured. This album puts deloused to shame
Haven't heard this in ages, and the energy and power of this progaliscious music is making feel tingles
This is my favorite thing about this band may not apply to everyone. When i heard these songs, it was the highlight of my life, and the soundtrack to my heyday. I can't believe these songs are approaching the age they are, and my memories are the only thing that accompany them.
Possibly one of the best songs ever written
favourite band ever. favourite song of theirs. love this song.
if u notice, when u rock your head to the music, it goes right with your heartbeat
OH NO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SONG ENDS
Espanglish psicodélico como me gusta. Grande Volta.
Un like poderroso!
por cuando te vi enfermo con mentiras
este ladrón, cuenta se dio
trampas mal hecho de trampas te lo juro
que yo si te mato
y con cada día que se pase recuerdate
quien era el más poderoso
I listen to this during heavy leg day at the gym. Better than pre-workout.

At least Cedric gave us a farewell message, Omar didn't seem bothered when he heard he left. I can understand how Cedric must feel about it all.
i remember being totally mesmerized by this band back in 2007, discovered them through the amazing john frusciante. saw TMV live in 2008, brilliant. sad to see theyve broken up, but this song is one of many gems that will live on forever! :)

Golden cap mushrooms got me here.
This song vibrates at a frequency unheard by many human ears
The progression of this song is too nice, thanks Wasalu ~
man I really wasn't a fan of this record when it first dropped, but now it's easily one of my favorite Volta albums. best line-up, too. Juan's gotta be my favorite bass player of all time.

The most talented band in all of the America's Besides RUSH.
Yeah I know RUSH is from Canada but they are still part of the America Continent.

Confío en tu gusto por la música. :)
2019 anyone?

2006 originally; 2020 now
the best part about tmv albums is the little drumbeat intro's into songs like this one, idk why by i like them so much!!
This song is Genius
Lupe sent me running here xD
Fiasco?
I think King Crimson had a baby.
What a weird baby
+Anonymous I could not agree more. And the kids are doing fine.
With Gong and Santana.

México, Corona Music Fest 2006 intro #tsss
Easily my favorite song from Amputechture. And then transitions into my second favorite Day of the Baphomets. Mars Volta has always been better in the studio and this song is an absolute standout in their discography.
I dunno but meccamputechture and vermicide are pretty good
Fucking legendary.
Bill Burr ftw
Lupe fiasco brought me here..
música de marte!!!
TIM!
I'm ugly, but this song makes me feel sexy.

5:49
Excellent
Omar Rodriguez is my favorite guitarist of all time.
Most of the guitars on this album is frusciante.
Lupe told me to grow up
hay mi hija no me llores
porque yo te quito de esta cruz
a noche te vi caminando sin el alma de tu cuerpo
en los brazos sin luz.
Omar solo eargasm!
its john frusciante in the solo i think
Thanks billy red face.
Maaaaannnnngggg!
gracia jojo
Haven't you heard Empty Vessels Make The Loudest Sound? All because they changed direction doesn't mean they lost passion.
Billy "red face" Burr sent me here.

Bill burr brought me here!
I love this song, the whole structure, the climax... but I can't stop hearing the W.M.A. riff by Pearl Jam in this one.
Thanks Bill Burr
Por cuando te vi enfermo con mentiras
Este ladron cuenta se dio
Trapa mal hecho de trampas te lo juro
Que yo si te mato
Y con cada dia que se pase recuerdate
Quien era el mas poderoso
(For when I saw you sick with lies
This thief, he took notice
Trap poorly made of tricks I swear to you
And with everyday that passes
Remember, Who was the most powerful)
Don't let me
Don't let me go
There is a venom in numerical lies
Your convalescent thorns
Are but a crown of magnets
They fold the shakes inside that third glass eye
Come on and give it to me
Come on and die
In your viscera eyes
Cataracts close the blinds
Let me let comfort
Come drown by your side
Aye, mi hija, no me llores
porque te quito de esta cruz
Y anoche te vi caminado sin la alma de tu cuerpo
En los brazos sin luz
(Oh my daughter, don't cry for me
Because I'll take you off this cross
And last night I saw you walking without the soul of your body
In your arms without light)
Stains fall into the brickwall severed
Four of them were watching
While the other three did hide
The culprits spat the seed from a premium of glass
Shattering the sigil that you thought was deitized
Don't let me
Don't let me go
There is a venom in numerical lies
Your convalescent thorns
Are but a crown of maggots
They rot the shakes inside that third glass eye
Come on and give it to me
Come on and die
In your viscera eyes
Cataracts close the blinds
Let me let comfort
Come drown by your side
In your viscera eyes
Cataracts close the blinds
Let me let comfort
Come drown by your side
Wait! I've seen the ark shake from your pneumonic tongue
But the braile that you weave of itself it shall read aloud
Yes it will
I said, she's falling, she's still falling
But no one wants to come
She's crawling, she's still crawling
On your burial ground
Said, she's falling, she's still falling
But no one wants to come
I said, she's crawling, she's still crawling
On your burial, ground
