I currently own this actual car with Harry listed as the second owner.Still sounds and goes like it should.Been well looked after over the years with some scary bills to prove. What a beauty
One of the most straightforward and informative car reviews I've ever seen. Giving real information that a potential owner actually needs to hear. Well done chap
I love these. They're just so gorgeous and for once the noise is precisely equal to its look. It actually sounds as beautiful as it looks. The exhaust note is just angelic.
Best brand out there. Competes eith brands like ferrari, aston martin etc.. But isnt too much. Its aspirational and achievable as well as being more special than anything else out there while being less pretentious than other supercar brands
I love your review on this Mazzy that much i have watched it 3 times over the last 4 months..your engine sound demonstration and all function demonstrations while driving is spot on and very clear .Your like a natural at this mate better than any made for tv commentary reviews. Cheers from Toronto CA
I drove it today...i've also drove M3's M5's that would eat it on performance, but the sound. The sound this car makes just makes you feel special. Love it
@@desmoMarco91 You should compare with cars which had their debut on the market in the same era. Looking at the 2nd hand market, what did BMW have to offer in 2007? The graphical interface of the GPS in a e60 m5 looks much more outdated than the one if the Granturismo. Talking about performance, the E60 m5 does NOT accelarate faster than the Granturismo S (with the MC Shift gearbox) - especially not in the road legal/usable range of accelaration. I owned both, a Granturismo S (with MC shift) and an e60 m5, but even if you rather trust manufacturer specs or car magazine tests, you will realize that the acceleration figures of these cars are comparable (0-100 km/h in 4.7 to 4.8s). I personally do not care about these figures, but if you do, you should also consider that the e60 M5 achieves this figure ONLY due to launch control which is a total clutch killer and probably something you will never use in your own car (we love our cars and wallets too much for doing this nonsense , don't we?).
T.M. Kuro why do you assume you should compare same debuts? If maserati Never updated the model its their fault its an old car now period. And...I still love its sound and looks..to this day
you keep on comparing cars based on the debut...why should I? I just compared them because used they are in the same exact ballpark. 2010 Maserati vs 2011 M5. I appreciate your comment though..just shows how maybe the whole fault is just on Maserati not updating the car enough rather than the initial technology
this is probably one of the best detailed reviews ive seen because the this guy actually owns the car unlike other journalists who criticise the cars too harshly from blasting round a test track (autocar). THIS IS A PROPER REVIEW
In my opinion, Harry has a fantastic taste for cars. He talks about real ownership and not only speed figures. He explains very objectively why he prefers the maser instead of the aston and he's very clear and pragmatic in his approach to cars. I could almost buy a car based only on Harry's reviews (if I had the money, of course). Great job Mr. Metcalfe! (sorry for any mistakes, I'm a little clumsy when I'm writing in English)
gotta love the little sly grin when he plants the throttle, i think its something all car enthusiasts do no matter how big the engine is, when you plant the throttle its (mostly) always fun
Good luck! I own one myself in black and you'll know this car is underrated when you drive this thing. It's quite sad how all the cars these days focus so much on numbers and specs rather than the pure driving pleasure and emotion itself. I never plan on selling mine.
@@Anti-FreedomD.P.R.ofSouthKorea hey there, are there any issues or known problems with this car? Just for knowledge sake. i found a mc stradale with just 20k+ km mileage and it's really tempting me. I'm not sure if a more subtle standard granturismo or this mc stradale would be better for daily use.
This was a very well executed car review...I really enjoy when the journalist takes a break (even if briefly) allowing the viewer to experience the intoxicating exhaust notes pouring from a v8! More please>
I am so happy that your... old, lets face it. But you totally LOVE your car and completely appreciate every aspect of it. From the fine lines of the bodywork to the grunt of the engine... As an owner, not only do you point out the great benefits of the the car, you are also able to give an external perspective of the not so great aspects of the car. If i am in your position, or anything like you when I am older, I will die a happy man. Thanks so much for the video mate, happy drivings
Another great video Harry.. Really enjoying these. Thanks so much for sharing your collection (both in Evo and on here) with us along with your valued thoughts.. Cheers from Canada
There's something magical I feel when I'm listening to British English, rightly spoken by a British gentleman while he's driving a thoroughbred Italian GT. Thanks a lot Mister Harry! by an italian fan
Another fantastic review Harry. As always, a fascinating, insightful and honest approach to car reviewing. I'd always check your opinions first before buying any new car, Look forward to many more to come. Thanks.
I love how it has a tinny high pitch and low rumble on the exhaust. The two tones harmonize greatly, it's much like a v10 gallardo missing the last two cylinders.
That was fantastic. I really love your passion and enthusiasm. And honesty. So refreshing. That car is like a beautiful mistress: She might drive you crazy with her expensive, high maintenance personality, but you suddenly forget it every time you look at her!
A LOT of people have the same complaint about not wanting the super stiff suspension when hitting "sport" to get the more aggressive shifting and in this cars case, the louder exhaust. Its why most cars now have a "track" setting to add the suspension while "sport" just adds the other goodies but keeps the comfort suspension for street driving.
I just bought a 2008 CPO in perfect condition, only 6k miles and the car is absolutely spectacular! Mine is only the 4.2 L but it's plenty fast for me, and the sound is just intoxicating. I think that the automatic is a better choice, rather than the MC so that you don't need to deal with the cost of a new clutch at around 25k miles or so. Also getting a CPO costs more but I like the peace of mind with the extra warranty. If you can spend in the $55-70k range, this is a fantastic daily driver !!
Thank you very much for your proper reviews on such a magical collection of cars (very rare these days and I have no intereset in caravans). Would buy one of these in the blink of an eye if I had the means. What a beautiful car and what a fantastic sound. Really like your videos, thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous looking car, right up there with the Lamborghini Miura which is probably my favourite looks-wise. Really great, interesting and honest review. Hope Harry can do some more reviews in future.
Wonderful review: wish there were more like this rather than some of the usual drivel from motoring hacks. Having driven the Maserati GranTurismo S with MC Shift as featured, Harry's review is spot-on in terms of driving experience, owner proposition on running costs and maintenance, and that awesome noise! The BMW M6 would be the rational choice: but the Maserati has an honesty with which it puts down power that is something else!
Love Harry's reviews. Even tho owning a Maserati sounds good I'd never choose one over a competition, I'd even take older cars for the same amount of money instead of Maser. I see Maserati owners as brave people tho.
luv that start-up sound, too. In here, Seoul S. Korea, some Turismo owner purposely rev it to fancy himself/herself. Can't complain too much... (yeah yeah, I know too. sorta... LOL)
now there is a proper, honest car review. No exxagerationg or jerking himself or the car company, just a straigtforwared review, especially honorable since he owns one.
Great review Harry. You're not selling it mate. There seems to be more down side than up side. I love your review along side the Rapide. It convinced me buy the Rapide and never looked back.
Quick...if not awesomely so, looks beautiful, sounds amazing. Actually not that expensive to buy, but gets into the "top tier" with Ferrari etc for badge prestige . Hard to beat surely?
Thanks for the informative and honest review. It is a gorgeous car. However, I would not complain to much about the 90000 GBP price tag (new) or fuel consumption. In Australia a new MC Shift costs well over 200000 GBP. Talk about having your trousers pulled down. Still love to own one though.
Great review. Very likable old chap. He's like that classic older guy who's still in touch with his younger self. Love it.
Harry is a legend.
Sometimes I just watch these videos of this car purely to hear the exhaust note. Goosebumps emerge.
I currently own this actual car with Harry listed as the second owner.Still sounds and goes like it should.Been well looked after over the years with some scary bills to prove. What a beauty
How much did you buy for?
What problems have you had?
@@sleepeatdrive7619 Hi I had the electronic parking brake replaced. Rear discs and pads changed along with full spark plug service. Now running great.

If the founder of Evo Magazine owns one, then it's a brilliant car.

but the navigation, electronics and onboard computers are quite outdated compared to BMW

One of the best reviews about GranTurismo!
Drove my friends tonight....awesome! Loved it
DON'T STOP WITH THESE DIARIES! I learn more from this than most TV shows.
I'm huge fan of Top Gear, but I find myself hooked on Harry's diaries. I'm quite impressed how entertaining they are without any fancy editing.
The amazingly effective simplicity and pointedness of this review is unparalleled. Well done, sir!
