      Same with the x cars...gm usually let's it's customers do the testing for them.

      Yes, before inflicting the car on their customers for real world testing.

      The early ones were complete garbage. A LOT of overheating issues, warped heads etc.

    3 speed manual transmission - check.
    Air conditioning - check
    CB Radio - a big 10-4!

      Yes. The earlier models had CRAPPY cooling systems and they had a LOT of overheating issues, which turned a lot of prospective buyers off. I would have to check, but I think the head gaskets and the aluminum either heads or block were garbage. I grew up in that era and our mechanic bought one for his commute (he was the prior service manager at a Chevrolet dealer) and despite him being a die hard Chevrolet guy, he REALLY HATED his Vega.

    Typical gm, start with a pile of junk, then wait, then build the cars better, but it's too late, you drove away your customers!
