Hiya Angela ,a Brit girl living in Florida here ,l have a question about the Old World digital ,Not being very computer savvy ,is it a video that you show and by “downloading” does that mean it’s saved and put in a “folder” or something to look at when needed,? Also I’m presuming it’s $20 per quarter ,am l right?,l do look forward to your videos as l don’t buy magazines now as my favorites have been discontinued and don’t feel other magazines quench my thirst for my type of decor ,thanks in advance if you get a chance to reply xx
That cake was gorgeous !! Your daughter is beautiful, Happy Birthday Juliette :) This was perfect timing, I'll be doing mirror paint on a cabinet in a few days, I was worried about how it would turn out, I love the way yours turned out :)
It’s lovely! I’m always amazed at your ability to transform a modern home into one that looks historic. I’ve tried for years to update and modernize an old farmhouse and have finally decided to embrace the old. And I joined your Old World Design Society. Can’t wait!!
I have saved two 92 year old French doors, a front door, & an interior door from the remodel of our Tudor Revival cottage for future use. Can't wait to install them into something appropriately nice & cozy. You, your time, and your focus are what your children want most to see from you. When they get that, they know what it means. No words are necessary because what you have done says it all. Your daughter will always know she has a mother who loves her very dearly - and for many of us who didn't get the kind of heartfelt parental attention you provide your children, nothing could be more gratifying to see.
We scraped the old 'popcorn' off of our ceiling and did the skip trowel technique. I love the way it turned out!! Your doors turned out amazing! What a lovely space to spend time in.
Would of liked you to pan out so we could get the effect of the hole room ,maybe you have plans for that in future, looks lovely so far,I had to laugh at Joel looking very patient letting the kids do some painting while he looked like he just wanted to get on with the work haha x
An old thick sock/glove/pot holder/cloth placed under each corner makes moving heavy furniture easier for me. I am my own 'handywoman". That green of your hutch is so perfect. You have beautiful tastes and make so many of us happy with your creative projects! Congrats on your new adventure, "Old World". It's a breath of fresh air over the landscape of white or kitchens with stainless steel/all black. When I see them, it triggers a memory of the smell of formaldehyde in high school biology class. Thanks for delivering beauty to us!
I love your videos and just signed up for Old World! I usually watch the videos on my TV so I dont have a way to “like” them or comment. I went to the app today though! I live in a French Country home that we built 18 years ago and I’m STILL having fun shopping antique stores, flea markets and such for treasures to decorate with. I did the same wall technique in several rooms and still love it although it is not that popular down here in Alabama. I finally got my dream trip of a lifetime to France in 2018 and it was amazing! My only regrets are the things I DIDNT buy at the Paris flea market! I hope to go back one day. Keep sending us your videos and we will keep watching and loving your beautiful family!
Ive used the mirror paint many times on old windows. A layer of matt black paint at the end helps quite a bit. Ive also dripped water between layers. Patting it up with a sponge at the end right before the black layer, to mimic distressed mirrors.
Yes, I kept thinking that I would have done a distressed, mercury glass look on those doors. I would have also giving the wood parts a bit of pickling...just a wee bit to tone them down. Would still look very French.
I love a good DIY makeover! It looks beautiful and the silhouettes of your children are so special. I achieved the same wall effect with plaster repair on a wall in my small kitchen and love it. If I had your energy I would do the entire house!
I tell you, I don't know what I would do without you sometimes. You HELP me so much get through tough days, boring days, and days I can not do my projects! Thanks so much, love your style, talent, home, garden, family, and personality!
It looks amazing Angela! What a cozy comfortable place your office is. The doors with the mirror spray....Genius. I love the teal hutch with its wire inserts....very French ❤️
Your room is fabulous and I love to watch it progress while you create. Loved the part when junior was helping move the table, his innocent comment so cute, made me chuckle.😀 Green birthday cake really pretty. Your family is so real, so adorable.
Very few women wear red lipstick as well as you. I must tell you I scored on a batch of copper. A lady had her entire booth 50 percent off because she is retiring. I loaded up in copper. It is amazing what copper does in a kitchen. 👍🌷
Watched Mom’s new office prior to this one. I am a Finnish minimal decor person, but I certainly get joy and pleasure watching your abundant items home!!
The first time my husband and I vacationed in Door County we noticed those textured walls in our cottage and I fell in love with it. It took awhile but I finally found someone to do the finish in our 1940s cape. We took numerous Door County vacations through the years always staying in Fish Creek. Cant wait to get back there.
It worked out great! I never considered putting mirrors in dark rooms to brighten them up before until I heard you and Shaye talking about it on the podcast. It was such a "duh" moment for me!
I love what you did with the mirrors! They look truly vintage! When that type of spray paint came out there was a tutorial on Pinterest (of course), on how to make faux mercury glass and I think EVERYTHING in my first apartment fell victim to that. 😂 I adore the green hutch too. Just exquisite! ♡
I did that to my house years ago. I live in Georgia and had never seen this technique here. Growing up in Texas though it was used. I love that instead of plain drab flat walls. The doors look great!🌻
i've moved heavy pieces of furniture around for years. i place rags under the feet. helps the kids push those hunkin' dressers around alot easier and it saves the wood floors from damage.
Yes, your lovely best friend “Elliot Homestead”, mentioned she did that with some windows. It’s brilliant! It looks gorgeous! I even thought about making a screen/ room divider out of old French doors and mirroring them. Wow, awesome job! I cannot wait to start the old world community!
I've had to move many heavy pieces of furniture alone and I put a towel underneath, to facilitate with the transition. It works beautifully. Keeps the floors from getting scratched and is so much easier to move. Beautiful job done, with your little helpers! Love your style.
That mirror spray paint can be tricky. All spray paint can be, but regular colors are more forgiving because "fog" isn't an issue. I have found that following the directions to a T are the most important part of the mirror spray paint; temperature, can distance, volume, time between coats, etc. It took me tries on scraps to figure it out.
Those doors look amazing! since I have been working from home I'm obsessed with watching all your youtube videos, seriously I cant get enough about your home garden and family. I love your style, cant wait for the digital magazine
Well Done completely changed the mood of the room! The mirror paint is a great tool I use it to paint glass doors in hutches that gives hidden storage and brightens the room. I splatter vinegar water on the glass then use the mirror paint blot off the water then do a coat of flat black gives a mercury glass effect.
To move awkward or heavy furniture, slip an old blanket underneath, rather evenly if you can, and push the item along keeping the blanket underneath the legs. ( I sometimes move the entire piece by simply pulling on the blanket.). Watch out for really uneven spots on the floor. The item will glide smoothly along. Commercial furniture “gliders” work well too.
I have used the mirror spray paint and love it. I used it on an old window outside and it has done well outside. Great job....it looks great Angie. Thanks for inspiration.
Hey I was thinking you need to get some of those sliders they are amazing. You can move huge items like they weigh nothing. I love mine I can move large furniture by myself....They are light weight plastic you put under each side of your furniture and it slides like it weighs nothing.
Oh Angela it's beautiful, you nailed it. I am so excited for Old World Design. It's been like counting down the days until Christmas. Valentine's Day is already one of my favorite holidays and this year is going to be even better!
Just found you! I love how you paused your project and celebrated your daughter. This video was a perfect real life balance. And that cake was adorable! Never heard of skip trowell. A creative way to do a wall with imperfections. Can’t wait to watch more!
Enjoyed seeing this lovely makeover. Such a great idea with the doors. Junior was darling with his smiles, and "honey". My middle son called me "peanut" at that age, we asked why, he said, " Mom calls me honey, so I call her peanut. " Makes sense, food as a name of endearment.😊 I no longer have your energy, if I ever did, but you encourage me in my projects.
Love love love!! Another great way to use the mirror spray is to create a "mercury glass" look. Spray your glass with a vinegar & water 50-50 mixture, then spray mirror spray while wet, blot with a paper towel, let dry, repeat if needed. Yummy look!!
You did an excellent job of transforming the closet area side of the room. I compliment you on your vision and can do attitude. As parents you are teaching your children some very fine lessons.

I have no idea why someone would dislike this video. I love watching you decorate because I have no talent in that area. Well Done.

Well those doors turned out nice... A good alterative to plain glass for sure! Thanks for the video.

What a beautiful girl celebrating her 11th birthday. And that green cake, gorgeous.
Happy Birthday to Juliette! The cake looks delicious. Clever to paint the doors with "mirror" spray.

I love all you've done to this room, Angela! What beauty it brings to your office area. OH, and Junior's comments...priceless!

@@RsJaneP that look only works with some decor and not everyone likes it.
I love a good DIY makeover! It looks beautiful and the silhouettes of your children are so special. I achieved the same wall effect with plaster repair on a wall in my small kitchen and love it. If I had your energy I would do the entire house!
I love the frames of your 6 children. The old dresser to display books looks great! You look great, too, Angela!
Love the hutch and silhouettes of your children!
I tell you, I don't know what I would do without you sometimes. You HELP me so much get through tough days, boring days, and days I can not do my projects! Thanks so much, love your style, talent, home, garden, family, and personality!
Pausing for your Daughter was the perfect thing to do. Baking with her must have made her very happy. I hope she enjoyed her Birthday

He’s stronger and she’s stubborn! Perfect match!!! Too cute!
Watched Mom’s new office prior to this one. I am a Finnish minimal decor person, but I certainly get joy and pleasure watching your abundant items home!!
If everybody had the same taste the world would be quite boring🙃
Beautiful job it looks lovely. Happy Birthday sweet Juilet...🎂🍨
Happy birthday Juliet 🎉.
Your office turned our so pretty. I watched you decorate it and love it. Your window treatment idea was brilliant.
So beautiful! That green brought a pop of spring to the space. Well done.
I loved your idea of making part of the stair railing into a bookcase! That's a smart use of space.
Wow This is really a nice family.
Happy Birthday Juliette !! You are a princess in yourself

Angela, you are freakishly creative. I'm transported to vintage France whenever I watch your vids.
I did that to my house years ago. I live in Georgia and had never seen this technique here. Growing up in Texas though it was used. I love that instead of plain drab flat walls. The doors look great!🌻
Your silhouettes are lovely. I used to make them with my students for parental Christmas gifts.
Lovely outcome 👏👏👏
Oh I did that 30 years ago in my kitchen
Looks great. It feels so good to get a long awaited project done. Blessings.

I texture my walls that way, too, but I don't enjoy doing it! I have an approximately 3'x4' wall patch that needs done. I'll be waiting for y ou.
Fabulous! I love the mirrored French doors ..A novel idea ! 💞🤩

The silhouettes of your kids are beautiful ❣
The mirror effect is great! Sit this plant on another pot you turned upside down, so it will look better in this angels pot.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this video!!!! I adore the green cabinet 😍
You need some gliders. I have several sets for hardwood smooth floors and carpet. I can move just about anything with them.
Great job as usual and happy birthday to your daughter. How many kids can say they baked their own birthday cake.
Oh Angela it's beautiful, you nailed it. I am so excited for Old World Design. It's been like counting down the days until Christmas. Valentine's Day is already one of my favorite holidays and this year is going to be even better!

Did Junior actually say, “Move honey!”... while moving the bottom piece? Too cute!😊
Wasn’t that precious😂❤️❤️

You look so pretty. Love it when you do projects.
Cake was very pretty, how did it taste? 🙂
Your birthday cake is beautiful!
Loved every minute, your thoughts and seeing your family! Can you talk about the silhouette pictures?
I covered my mirrored closet doors with a pretty non adhesive film of my choice. Love it!
What a great look, you are so talented and so is your husband to do this kind of work. A great video, cannot wait to see more!
Bonne anniversaire Juliet!
