    Was there or is there anyone who can sing like Judy? She was one of the very few who have lived and passed this life so eloquently!!

    I LOVE JUDY GARLAND!!!! She's been my favorite singer since I was 12 years old. I'm 63 now!!!! I LOVE this song. It always makes me cry. It reminds me of being little on Christmas morning. My mother was very verbally abusive to me growing up, but on Christmas she was ALWAYS very nice to me and in a good mood. The line in the song " Santa Claus will stop and I'm sure he'll drop exactly what you wanted from your chimney top." always makes me cry. It was the 1 of 2 days a year, the other being my birthday, that I could count on my mother being especially nice to me.That's why Christmas means a lot to me now.

    This was exquisite! Judy tugs at your heart and soul every time she sings. She has lived and loved and learned from her lyrics. Her acting abilities also shine when she acts out the story in each song. I loved how she knealed down in front of the little boy to tell him to have a Merry Christmas. She loved children...her children as well as all children.

    This is such a pretty song. It is called "Merry Christmas." I had never heard it before I watched In the Good Old Summertime. Thank you so much!

    I know this is a remake of The Shop Around the Corner, but to me this version is the best. In the original the story line kind of goes into a dark place, this one is happier.

    The studio heavily promoted this song as a 'new classic'; riding on the success of Garland's popular 'Have yourself a Merry Christmas' from Meet me in St Louis. This melody even had the arrangement altered to mimic the arrangement of the song from the "St Louis" film. But this sweet melody just did not catch on with the general public, which was a shame.

    P.S. My mother died December 16th, 6 years ago. I miss her now. It's ironic that she died so close to Christmas. That's why I always think about her so close to that day.

    There's a time in each year
    That we always hold dear,
    Good old summer time;
    With the birds and the trees-es,
    And sweet scented breezes,
    Good old summer time,
    When your day's work is over
    Then you are in clover,
    And life is one beautiful rhyme,
    No trouble annoying,
    Each one is enjoying,
    The good old summer time.
    In the good old summer time,
    In the good old summer time,
    Strolling thro' the shady lanes
    With your baby mine;
    You hold her hand and she holds yours,
    And that's a very good sign
    That she's your tootsie wootsie
    In the good old summer time.
    To swim in the pool,
    You'd play "hooky" from school,
    Good old summer time;
    You'd play "ring-a-rosie"
    With Jim, Kate and Josie,
    Good old summer time,
    Those days full of pleasure
    We now fondly treasure,
    When we never thought it a crime
    To go stealing cherries,
    With face brown as berries,
    Good old summer time.
    In the good old summer time,
    In the good old summer time,
    Strolling thro' the shady lanes
    With your baby mine;
    You hold her hand and she holds yours,
    And that's a very good sign
    That she's your tootsie wootsie
    In the good old summer time.

    Still prefer "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" from "Meet Me in St. Louis"

    She looks a little like a young Madonna here. (Evita era)
