  • No garage? No worries! This is a simpleton's guide to a simple job - revised because I had the wrong oil amount in the first version (thanks "Enduro Trail Riding" channel). Every 15 - 20 hours running time you need to do this - more often if you're racing - so don't be paying someone else!

I'm having the same issue with my '19 250 xc-f. Nothing I own will fit there for the rear magnetic drain plug. I just went and bought torque wrenches to find i can't torque that bolt lol. Guess Ill have to get a ring spanner that fits, but I have no clue what 20N feels like. Is it just nice and snug to where I'm not putting tons of pressure to tighten it?

UncleHerb I use a thin walled ring spanner and I’m really careful not to overtighten. When I warm the engine to check the oil level after the job , I also check there’s no weeping around the drain plug. There never has been and I’m still on the original copper washer after 9k miles and many many oil changes.

One litre in my KTM Owner's Manual (2017 350 EXC-F) but in any case you're going to warm up the engine (five minutes at tickover) and then let it settle for five minutes (level on a stand or beer crate) and then check the oil level in the sight glass, so if it needs topped up, top it up. I find one litre including the filter housing brings mine to about half way up the window which is about where KTM say it should be. I check it after every day out on the bike too but it never wants any.
