Prestigeless, clear and to the point! Thanks for taking the time, these instruction videos are invaluable for amateur mechanics, like myself, in complementing service manuals. Great informative step by step guide!!👍👍Have you checked your little inline fuel filter? After my first ride I pulled mine out and it had a bit of white plastic from drilling fuel tank holes 🤷♂️ where they mustn't have cleaned at factory
Try to use medical syringe next time to drain all leftover oil from inside. Where needle goes put a hose similar to drain hose on tank. And just use suction power of syringe. You can use it also for cooling system,if you want to add a bit oil and not make a mess around, for draining brake and clutch oil easy from uper reservoirs. And it also have pretty precise measurements for volume on the side. Im using it all the time ✌️
Hi, I changed oil for my first time, and it bothers me if I inserted correctly the screen after having cleaned it. Is it possible to having put it wrong if I was able to tight the bolt correctly and it doesn't leak? Can I check if I inserted it correctly without draining the bike again?
@@BrokenSprocket Ok I layed down the bike and there was no oil leak and I was able to clear my doubts, without draining any oil. Thank you very much, now I can sleep fine ahah
When I remove the bolt with the screen, I attach the screen to the plug before I put it back in. That way, you don't accidently crush the plastic as it has to fit into the hollow bolt area. @@NZXTcucco
With the drz400, some use blue Loctite on the filter cover. Is it a good idea to use blue Loctite on the 350 exc-f filter cover screws or anywhere else? Yeah I have both the drz and exc-f 🙂
I would highly suggest oil and filter. I do every 5-6 hours. I know sounds like to much. I rebuilt my bike after 128 hours. Piston held up rings where good. Buy oil in bulk. Make sure it’s the right viscosity
@@dirtrider9268 I fill it to the top of the sight glass when it starts it goes down 🙂 Just been told different stuff . 30hrs into a new top end and chill coolant in the oil 🤔 just changed the water pump seal too ...
Thanks for the video! I think you accidentally said 7.4 Nm for the filter bolts. It's actually 7.4 Ftlb According to my manual for the Xc-f, the torque specs are: Drain plug = 14.8 Ft-lb = 20 Nm 13mm screen plug = 11.1 Ft-lb = 15 Nm Filter bolts = 7.4 Ft-lb = 10 Nm
Thats 1 litre? Looked like a lot of oil. But hell I can’t tell but I just watched a oil change video the guy was putting 1.6 liters in a 350 and I commented yoooo that’s to much. He agreed and said he messed up. Changing oil is easy.
Kindly note that when replacing the oil filter you will be using than 1L of engine oil. The oil filter housing needs to be filled to about 1/3 full with engine oil. After that is taken care of, the oil reservoir needs to filled with 1L of engine oil. So overall, you will be using approximately 1.2L of engine oil.
He filled the filter well with oil first. So the filter would suck up the oil he put in. You can see before he puts the cover on that the filter was fully covered in oil.
It's good to see someone else who changes their bikes oil every few hours of riding. The guys I ride with think they can get away with oil changes once at the beginning of the riding season. Seems a bit better idea to change it every 2-5 hours of riding time to me.
This is one of the best DIY dirt bike oil changes I have seen. Very clean and methodical, simple and straightforward. Thank you.

Great video! How often you change the oil. I just bought my 350 and dealer told me every 10 hours.
Depends how hard you ride it. Duel sport slow not climbing big sand hills ect 10 hours for sure. Opposite end of the spectrum.. the track.. every 3.

Laying the bike on it's side will stop oil from coming back out if you need to check it out but it should be good.

I don't use loctite on filter cover
Have the same bike and didn’t lay my bike over and fill the filter compartment, am I good? Or should I redo it
Should be fine.
Why do you have to warm up the engine first?
Warning the oil will help it flow out better.
Do you have to use motorex oil can you use other oils like penrite
You don't have to but I'm using the oil KTM recommend.
I'd recommend to use a Jaso MA2 rated oil or change it more often.
What if the il is above the inner cirle or jist unnder top ov glass wen cold
Pull some out w a small hose down the filler hole. Or loosen drain bolt for a second, that'll show your mechanic ninja skills.

According to my manual for the Xc-f, the torque specs are:
