He could sing that with a lower tone, nobody would mind and would still sound good - but NOPE, the Metal God still goes all out to reach that old high lol
Jesus christ, and that's at the end of a full set and going balls out, and he can still get that high. 😳 Yes, he's a touch flat on the top end, and maybe lost a note or two from up there as well, but he's 70 FOR FUCK SAKE! The fact he has that much still, and has the energy and sheer fucking iron to go out and do that is amazing.
In all fairness axl is a deep baritone Who sings waaaay above what he should be able to And did it without proper technique for years. His downfall is no matter what he did his style damaged his voice and when he went all out for acdc it killed it
Rob halford is now on a level so beyond metal, that he can do whatever he wants on stage, walk in circles, bow down for hours, kneel and stay motionless and still its the Metallest of all metal performance. Something about this man just emanates steel wherever he exists.
I’m not even that much of a Judas Priest fan, but if they can still perform with this amount of energy AND still put out music of similar caliber, they have my respect wholeheartedly
What amazing Energy AND love for music!!! Rob AND JP thank you so much for all this Heavy Metal Time!! 50 years AND More!!! Glads for everyone from Mérida Yucatán México 🌟🇲🇽
I love Judas Priest, but every time Rob bends over to hit the high notes, I just can't get out of mind that he's filling his Depends to get there....just my twisted mind....but i'll be there in 15-20 years...hail Priest.
he's actually always done that for painkiller, he's just bending over a bit more nowadays. i have video from 2008 metal masters (altho i was too close and it was too loud, so the sound is terrible) and he was bending over.
It is actually a perfectly legitimate singing technique. You can find videos and information about it pretty easily. It helps to reach the higher end of your vocal range with less difficulty. Here is a choir instructor demonstrating the technique: ua-cam.com/video/7OB7i2Npsxw/v-deo.htmlsi=AfbEdPVW1GscV7mW
Would have loved to see this. Seen him in Portland Oregon a few years ago and I aint even sure who was playing for him. Didnt get to hear him hit his high notes even one time.
That last pain.... he really pushed that one and sort of redeemed himself because he didn't hold the previous ones and the long notes either. But the last one resurrected (see what I did there?) the old Rob.
@@Mitch93 Well If a person can sing metal tunes into their seventies then they're doing really well Bruce Dickinson is another one that's still able to hit a lot of those notes
I'm watching this, and I'm glad he's still going, but, I don't think Rob Halford's having that much fun anymore... either that, or if that was the last song on the set, he looked -DONE-
I went to the Georgia show the week after this and it's definitely the second one, because they play this after an hour and 20 minutes straight almost of metal madness. He really doesn't have the ability to go that far, but he does it anyway because he _is_ having that much fun, and remains that passionate. Truly inspiring.
@@BlackbladeYT glad to hear it. As long as he’s actually enjoying himself still. Christopher Lee always had a smile on his face when he was singing for his metal band too xD
Tech Port is the 2 night stop in the Alamo city. Proud to say that my daughter will attend also. Told her that I last saw them on British Steel and Point Of Entry tours. 40 odd years later I'm going to Witness the Priest again . Mr. Tipton we all hope you can Rock San Antonio again with a jam. Mr. Halford let's do it one more time in honor of The Godfather - Joe Anthony who years ago did his very best and accomplished his goal of making Judas Priest a fan favorite. Those were the times at Freeman Coliseum. Those interviews with Halford and Anthony will always stand out. 👏👏👏
Yes, it is, mainly so that Rob can still hit the high notes. He is very passionate about that. Most metal bands play a key or two down when touring anyways to go easy on the vocalist
The way Rob can still hit those high notes at his age is inhuman. Wow.
That's because he's not human. He's the Metal God!
TEACH THEM BROTHER
Even Ozzy lost his range eventually, it’s seriously impressive the way Rob has actually managed to refine his vocal range as he gets older
@@joshphinney9454 Rob is better singer than Ozzy technically , just like Ronnie james Dio.
yeah, well, what do you expect from a god?
70 years old this guy still kicking ass and taking names screaming his ass off .PAINKILLER sounds totally AWESOME!! PAAAIIIINNNNNNNN

I can’t believe that a 70yo can do this. Rob is a freak of nature. What a legendary band.
At 70 years old, Rob is still an absolute vocal beast.
Honestly it’s hilarious how at 5:45 Rob just starts waking around in a literal circle.
Concentration
Preparing the metal whirlwind. 🤘

Slayer: Reign in Blood
Metallica: Master of Puppets
Priest: That's cute
Honestly though
I love how Painkiller was kinda like a fuck you to the thrash bands in a way haha. They pushed the limits of heavy metal with that album.
Saw them in San Antonio.
The hardest I’ve ever headbanged. I’m surprised my head stayed on my neck and didn’t go flying across the stadium.
One of the few Decent lives of Painkiller since Rob rejoined the band in '04. Bravo
How does this 70 year old metal God still got it after all these years?! God bless Rob Halford, we are lucky we still have him! 🤘😎🤘
Massive respect to Rob, no doubt... but those guitarists absolutely NAIL this!! Epic.
Amazing solo, bravo Richie!

“Age is just a number”
- Rob probably
Definitely don’t take it out of context
You don't earn the title of "Metal God" without having the chops to back it up. This is living proof of that
The most metal song ever. If you look in the Websters Dictionary under heavy metal it should say see:: "Pain Killer "
Thanks for this vid and MASSIVE respect to the Priest!
