I have been trying to get my head around this for over a week, then I stumble across this video and everything becomes crystal clear in 5 minutes. God save you!!
@@Sunnyfield323 ROME: The Opposite or Equal is in reference to the pH. For example, in Respiratory alkalosis when the pH is High then the carbon dioxide CO2 is Low and the compensatory effect is Low bicarbonate HCO3- so Opposite from the high pH. However, in metabolic alkalosis when pH is High then HCO3- is High and to compensate CO2 will also be High, so they are all Equally High.
Hi Dr. I am a strength and conditioning and research exercise science student. Just wanted to say that you have an incredible way of making things a bit difficult relatively easy. Thanks again for the videos. A pleasure to watch. Kind regards,
I have grade nine education and somehow ended up in college at 66 years old learning to be a MLAT. you have no idea how easy you just made this for me. I was nearly crying in class today realizing how much i have no idea what my teacher was teaching. thank you thank you and hope something nice happens for you that you never knew you wanted .
This got me so confused at the beginning because I kept asking myself how is it that we keep producing increased hydrogen when CO2 increases but yet we are going down in Ph. But once I realized that Ph is measured in 1x10^-ph. Now it made sense because naturally when you decrease something raised to a negative power it would increase it. Thank you for this video!
Pure Genius ! I love your videos Doc ! Never came across so precise and strikingly informative vidoes that are to the point that sit in ur head ! Can't thank you enough ! :)

Dr.Mike and Dr.Mate I really appreciate your way of delivering the subject. The topic becomes so easy and absorbing and more interesting to understand. Dr.TARIQ IQBAL
Hey doc.....I'm sure this topic is extremely valuable for some people who can fathom this information. Sadly for me this sounds like a load of jargon. However I stayed tuned in, as I was mesmerised by your good looks, I love your moustache!!!!
Great video, love it. Kindly tell me how we may know what is happening in the body. I mean what are the signs of acidosis and alkalosis, is there any test to know exactly what is happening.
Acidosis = quantity/concentration of H+ ion goes up More carbon dioxide = more acid Respiratory acidosis - carbon dioxide must be increasing because it binds w water, produces carbonic acid, splits apart, and produces hydrogen ions.
After 10years of confusion around this topic, I finally understood it within 5mins. Genius
Same😂
Just brilliant
My lecturer: 50 min preso, 12 confusing slides
Dr. Mike: ~5mins, 3 color markers, 1 pimp 'stache
Mine is confusing 60slides🥲
Lmfao not the pimp stache😂😂😂
😆 pimp stache 🔥🔥🔥
I sat in class for over 2hrs but not conceiving anything but here is a clip and it's all worth the time I have spent watching it

Thanks for this video! I remembered the mnemonic ROME = respiratory opposite, metabolic equal.
oooooh Thank You for this Acronym/Mnemonic !
Ya
Thank you so much for commenting bc I was having a little trouble understanding
Hmm ROME please expand .. respitory opposite ??

you are 100% correct highly recommended for BSc in biochem and nursing students.............. please do more lessons

@@DrMattDrMike hey dr mike I very followed you on Instagram.
Can you please give me some tips on my account. Please
You can tell when someone understands a difficult topic if they are able to explain a complex topic in simple terms.

Are you studying pathology?
@@arsalanzaidi15 I'm studying mbbs..in that I have pathophysiology sub
Unfortunately I'm writing exams tomorrow morning on acidosis and alkalosis 😂
When a topic is difficult for me , you do a great job and explain it clearly ,
You are wonderful doctor 💕👍🏻
Sir, your moustache and your teaching are both incredible. Thank you for this.
And you have done it again in less than 6 minutes. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate you.
