      Hmm ROME please expand .. respitory opposite ??

    • @RuthLovesJesus
      @RuthLovesJesus 2 роки тому +47

      @@Sunnyfield323 ROME: The Opposite or Equal is in reference to the pH. For example, in Respiratory alkalosis when the pH is High then the carbon dioxide CO2 is Low and the compensatory effect is Low bicarbonate HCO3- so Opposite from the high pH. However, in metabolic alkalosis when pH is High then HCO3- is High and to compensate CO2 will also be High, so they are all Equally High.

    This got me so confused at the beginning because I kept asking myself how is it that we keep producing increased hydrogen when CO2 increases but yet we are going down in Ph. But once I realized that Ph is measured in 1x10^-ph. Now it made sense because naturally when you decrease something raised to a negative power it would increase it. Thank you for this video!

    Acidosis = quantity/concentration of H+ ion goes up
    More carbon dioxide = more acid
    Respiratory acidosis
    - carbon dioxide must be increasing because it binds w water, produces carbonic acid, splits apart, and produces hydrogen ions.
