I just had my nursing fundamentals final and was drawing tic tac toe boards on the scrap paper for every ABG question. GREAT VIDEOOOO! idk if this would help but my lecturers taught us to write the normal values down pH (7.35 - 7.45), HCO3 (22 - 26) but for PCO2 write it as 45 - 35 (rather than 35 - 45), that way everything towards the left would be acidotic and anything towards the right would be alkalotic :D

i wish i had found this video last seemster during fundamentals of nursing, would of made my abg chapter so much easier. Still usefull though because i never got the hang last year and were revisiting abg's in med surge this year. Just did a practice quiz using this method and got 7/7. if your not already you should consider teaching at a program

To make it easy always look at the PH level to help you identify if it is metabolic or respiratory. Most people can identify if it alkaline or acidic but we get confused if it is a metabolic or respiratory issue! Thank you

GREAT VIDEOOOO! idk if this would help but my lecturers taught us to write the normal values down pH (7.35 - 7.45), HCO3 (22 - 26) but for PCO2 write it as 45 - 35 (rather than 35 - 45), that way everything towards the left would be acidotic and anything towards the right would be alkalotic :D

i wish i had found this video last seemster during fundamentals of nursing, would of made my abg chapter so much easier. Still usefull though because i never got the hang last year and were revisiting abg's in med surge this year. Just did a practice quiz using this method and got 7/7. if your not already you should consider teaching at a program

To make it easy always look at the PH level to help you identify if it is metabolic or respiratory. Most people can identify if it alkaline or acidic but we get confused if it is a metabolic or respiratory issue! Thank you
