Based on the ghost story ""The Haunted Dish Mansion of Banchō,"" this Japanese period drama revolves around a forbidden love between O-Kiku and Harima, complicated by their differing social statuses and a web of conspiracies. Who broke the plates? Was it Harima, seeking revenge, or O-Kiku's vengeful spirit, haunting the household and threatening its members? As mysterious deaths plague the servants and the truth behind the tragic romance is slowly uncovered, Harima's wrathful sword must clash with the forces of evil. With the help of O-Kiku's restless spirit, justice will prevail in this supernatural tale of love, intrigue, and revenge. Don't miss this unique and thrilling period drama!
Strange events are occurring at the residence of the Aoyama family, led by high-ranking samurai Aoyama Harima (played by Masakazu Tamura). About three months prior, Harima was requested by his uncle, Aoyama Shujin (played by Takashi Sue), and the senior official Doi Shukei (played by Takashi Kanda), to show them the family heirloom - a red-painted Goryeo dish presented to them by the Shogunate. However, the dish was found broken upon arrival, causing the blame to fall on Harima's attendant Okiku (played by Yuko Kada), who was then punished severely. Later on, a new order is given by the shogunate to present the dish to an imperial envoy. Feeling responsible for Okiku's death and tormented by guilt, Harima contemplates committing seppuku (ritual suicide). However, he is stopped by a female attendant named Oyuki (played by Nagisa Katahira), who persuades him to reconsider...

Great to see Actor Masakazu Tamura back again. Ghost story which is very unusual because the ghost communicates by using Tamura's Sword, for example, putting images onto the blade. Reminds me of your other series on this channel, namely, Bangaku, where Bangaku sometimes talks to his Sword. Japan is famous for intertwining the sword with spirituality. One of the three sacred treasures of the Japanese religion, Shintoism, is a Japanese Sword. Not a katana but a tsurugi.
It's not the end that I imagine from this japanese film but the truth about this kind of conspiracy and the innocent women killing came out, and the criminais received their punishment, thanks a lot 👍👍🇯🇵🇯🇵
The build-up is satisfying. And there is some closure at the end. A great film.
Impressive movie some people don't beleive in spirits but they do exist good and bad they are people out there who pray for your downfall and then act shocked when it happens openly but behind closed doors they celebrate the victory but they forget what they hand out always come back sometimes sevenfold i know its just a movie but it shows what life has to offer if we walk the wrong path i have enjoyed watching i do hope you have more so i can see i love Japanese movies
