- I did a video a few weeks ago of a new SE Razor from DSCosmetics. Viewers commented that it appeared to be a close replica of the Razorock Hawk, and could I do a video with the Hawk again. I’ll be trying the Hawk with the Open Comb Base in today’s shave paired with a PAA favorite from a previous review, soap and aftershave- Thought Forms.

That razor even sounded aggressive lol. When i first started wet shaving i didnt think one razor would be that differant from another. Boy was i wrong. I only have a half dozen, and i get a differant shave from each one. Great shave you had i do like the look of the razor i admit. Just may be a bit to much for my taste. Have a great weekend Ken

I was hoping you'd go for the Game Changer .84 but the .68 is nice as well. I have both base plates and prefer the .84 because I shave every third or fourth day but the .68 mows the growth pretty darn good and really either could be used every day IMO. RazoRock razors can't be beat for quality, materials and workmanship and the cost is amazing, don't know how they can machine stainless steel to perfection for the cost. Nice shave and results today, thanks. Hahaha..Burn baby burn...nice!🔥🔥🔥

Nice CLOSE shave. Ken the GC .76 would be in your wheelhouse. Just a click above the 34c in efficiency but smoother. The .68 is milder and smoother than the 34c at least to me. We will see what you come up with when you get it.
The OC Hawk is the most aggressive. I have all 3 as I got a deal on a BST. The IB site is not correct. It reminds me of the JAWS GC with wide spaced teeth The A is smooth and is efficient.

Another helpful review. I would not enjoy a SE safety razor that aggressive. The Kensurfs brush I received this week is the 2023 version. Very nice brush. You'll like the Gamechanger 0.68. It's my second favorite DE safety razor.

I enjoy my Hawk, but more so with the standard base plate. I bought the razor with the open comb, but later purchased the standard base plate - much better results.

Hi Ken, I have the mild plate and it is plenty for my thick beard. Gamechanger .68 OC is more aggressive than .84 SB IMO.

Good shave Ken. You won't need to shave for about week after using that razor. Shew! Those Feather Artist Club razors are pretty extreme. The Kai Captain's are a touch milder but not by much. I have the Original V1 hawk and it's pretty extreme. My skin is pretty sensitive but my beard is like a cast iron skillet. The sensitive skin prevents me from using a lot of blades.

I haven’t tried the Hawk OC plate but I did recently try the Vector OC plate and got a two pass BBS shave which amazed me. Great shave as always.

Agree Hawk OC is a bit aggressive....and that was with mild blades.... Now on the DE Razorock : they have the Lupo DL (has one side open other closed comb).....probably the BEST razor available if you can have only one....

Great shave. Speaking of open comb razors, I finally got my first OC razor as the Fatip Piccolo just arrived at my house yesterday. I can’t wait to put it into use, and let’s hope it turns out great. I’ll admit that I’m a little nervous about using the open comb razor for the first time, but I hope my first OC razor shave goes well. Have a good one!

Razorock/Italian Barber make fantastic razors and very good soaps. Both represent something that is rapidly vanishing in the wetshaving industry: good value. You can still find good value in soaps. But razors? Hard to find.

Razorock also has a razor that uses half of a DE blade, the Rozorock Eco. It would be interesting to see a comparison of the Eco with the Leaf Twig.

So I’ve been wet shaving with a Henson al13 since Christmas. I’ve tried just about every popular blade out there, I get a close shave. But the curve of my chin seems to be the only spot that doesn’t get bbs. Any advice? I go with the grain on pass 1. And across on the 2nd. Any help would be appreciated. Love the channel btw. Ken I seem to never get the “burn” from after shaves I use: aqua velva, brut, and old spice. I understand this is a good thing since I didn’t nick myself but is that normal to never get the burn?

Open comb cuts more hair on your face ?
Open comb razors aren't necessarily more aggressive (i.e. give closer shaves) than closed comb razors. It depends on what the safety bar looks like and how much blade is exposed. For example, the Merkur 1904 open comb is a fairly mild razor, while the Parker 99R, a closed comb one, is quite aggressive and will cut the beard closer to the skin.
They seem more aggressive to me 💈👍

I bought a black Razorock hawk V2 and it doesn't work for me. I paid thru the nose for it , plus the costly Feather Professional blades. I will post it all on ebay within a week for a good price.

If I haven’t commented on any video you posted up to this point, it’s because I got a lot of stuff on my mind and it’s hurting my heart and soul. I’m not happy with my life anymore. No one asks me how I’m feeling anymore. And that is why I’m quiet and I don’t comment on your videos anymore, plus, it’s the 2 year anniversary death of my grandfather and the one year anniversary death of my uncle. Plus, my dad is getting up in his age and soon, I’ll have to attend his funeral so my old man will be gone as well at some point soon in his life. Those couple with the fact that I’m still battling with depression makes me not want to comment on any future videos. I apologize for anyone who is listening to this, I won’t comment anymore. Thanks.

I find Captain Kai Blades not very sharp and a waste of money.
What do you think of the Feather?
I like Captain Kai blades. Never had a problem with them. One great thing about wet shaving is there are so many options of blades you can almost certainly find one that works for you.
