Nice one Ken, you have a fantastic razor there. A couple of things, it’s actually cast, rather than machined, and has a chrome finish. Not that any of that matters, it’s a quality implement, it’s just info. All the best for the wedding, thanks for the video
The Feather AS-D2 was my daily driver for many years. Eventually, I developed a preference for a lighter razor. I now use a Henson. The AS-D2 really makes the Feather blade shine. At the very first Big Shave West, the Feather rep that was there told me the AS-D2 was developed to make the Feather blade less dangerous! Congrats all around on the wedding!!!
I have been using the AS-D2 for 5 years - love it! Unfortunately, I lost the top cap the only time I took it traveling, but after trying a Blackbird for a few weeks (and returning), I decided I cannot be without the AS-D2 and purchased another; there isn't a better razor for my face/needs. I get very smooth shave ever time with two passes, and usually blind shave while showering. Not many razors I would trust for that job! Best wishes
Congratulations on the wedding Ken! It'll be one of the best days of your life! Have a great time. I've had the AS-D2 for a couple of years and it is a close to perfection in shaving as I've found - I always use the Feather blades in it. While I use other razors still, the Feather is used 50% of the time and before most important occasions. Congrats again on your daughter's wedding!
The AS-D2 is still one of my favourite razors. I never encountered a razor that is more comfortable to shave with. And once you get used to that 45 degrees angle, you get a great shave. Shaving with mine for 2 years now. (Always with a Feather blade.)
Congratulations on the wedding Ken. My asd2 is my daily driver and I will put a Gillette platinum blue / Astra platinum/ Wilkinson sword. I don’t get on with the feather blade.
With sensitive skin and curly facial hair, my everyday razor is the ASD2 with a Feather Blade. I also keep it simple with Proraso green preshave, soap, and aftershave. I am so glad I found your channel and switched to DE shaving a few years back!
It's taken many shaves to tame the mighty Feather blade. I use pre-shave twice on my neck with the Feather and only do 2-passes. Combined with a wet lather, I had my first shave with a Feather where I didn't have weepers. A completely drama-free shave. I now love Feather DE blades.
Nice! The AS-D2 is a mild to medium razor IMO, the quality is impeccable but the shave angle is different than most razors and takes a bit of getting used to. Great shave, nice products used. Congrats on the wedding, enjoy the occasion.
Hey Ken! Thanks for the vid and congrats on ur daughter’s upcoming wedding! I was due for a shave and thought, “dang, I haven’t used my AS-D2 in well over a year. So I put in a fresh Feather blade and gave it a try. Well, halfway through I remembered why I haven’t used it. Way to mild and inefficient. So - I put the Feather blade in my Blackland and…..perfection. BBS shave! Thanks again for the video and inspiring me to give it another try!
Great shave. The month of using Feather blades is finally over. It may sounded like an extreme challenge, but I took one for the team just for shits and giggles. Now I can finally get back to normal by using variety again. Congrats on your daughter getting married, and as always, have a good one!
Hey Ken! I purchased the AS-D2 two years ago for dirt cheap off ebay! Its a mild but very efficient stainless steel razor! Its perfect for a daily driver or a nice touch up for an important event like your daughter's wedding! Congratulations to her and your family on this special occasion! JimG
Nice shave Ken, I have the same razor, one of my favorites, sending blessings your way for a fabulous wedding for your daughter and a lifetime of happiness and good health, god bless!
Hi Ken! I have the earlier version (AS-D1) which is even more mild. It's too mild to be my main razor, but it's nice for an evening shave or just to look presentable for a special occasion like a wedding/date where you want zero chance of irritation, and don't need your shave to last all day.
Delightful shave! I have had my eye on that razor for awhile. It's moved up on my list! The godfather is a pretty pleasant razor, and really good to get rid of a few days worth of growth. While I have my favorite razors, I have quite a few I don't use as often. So I have to solutions. One is I take 2 or 3 razors in with me and use them on one of the passes and then, usually, finish with my favorite. The other is when I watch one of my favorite wet shavers and they use a razor I haven't used in awhile, and I think, Heck! why not break it out. Cheers and have fun at the wedding!
Great shave! I actually shave with a bic sensitive disposal razor 😂 but I love to watch traditional wet shaving videos! Wishing you all the best and thanks!
For the last two years I've been using an R89 with Feather blades and Taylor of Old Bond cream. My skin is semi-sensitive and this combo works great for me. Usually twice is enough with this combo compared to the past having to shave 3x's. The only thing I recommend is not trying to shave too many times with the same blade. It can still seem like the blade is sharp so it's easy to be tempted to go longer. I can shave a few times and then I'll change it out... otherwise my skin pays the price.
Love this razor, but I shave my head also and the angle window is small for this one; but if you can catch that window, it’s a beauty…The razor that performs how I expected the Feather to perform as is the Blackland ERA with plate 4….Outstanding, efficient shave with that setup.
Great shave there Ken!!! I have that razor, but I have the version called the WS-D2s, which has wood on the handle and stand. It shaves the same to me, but it’s just for aesthetics.
Great shave Ken. No wonder you haven't been on here as of late. Congrats buddy. You get to walk your baby girl down isle at her wedding. I know you will be happy and sad at the same time. It seems like yesterday that she had just finished college. I get those calls a lot too and it's almost always when I'm trying to shave. The idiots that they are. That's one razor that I will not be shaving with anytime soon because it's extremely expensive. The 6C is great, you will enjoy that one.
Nice shave as usual! I've never used the AS-D2. I have the Gamechanger 68 and it's one-third the price of the AS-D2. They are both quality-made stainless steel safety razors. Maybe you could do a comparison shave of those two. Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming nuptials.
@@palmiccz I'll have to take your word for that. If you don't have the Gamechanger, I don't know how you know? My Gamechanger is a very smooth shaver and as good as my Rockwell 6S. I still don't see what makes the AS-D2 worth 3X the price.
You may find a range of prices for the AS-D2 set. This is partly because there are slight variations in the “kit”-some include a custom stand or a special gift package. Regarding DE Blades, If you can get them, try the Stortebekker Premium Razor Blades.
I bought the feather asd2 with matching stand from Japan unfortunately it’s way too mild which in turn leads to irritation because of the increased pressure added to get a close shave , I rate the Edwin jagger 316 as probably my no1 safety razor

No longer has the packaging. I'm going to buy it. What do you do when you buy second hand razors as in cleaning? To Make sure there's no. You know what I mean, yucks in there. Thanks. Can I just soak it in alcohol fluid? That would normally kill everything. Cheers!
@@kensurfs Thank You man, I just found one on eBay for like $20, I snatched it up, lol. I didn’t know it was a candle holder, I thought it was a shaving specific thing like a soap mug or something. BTW what do you use yours for specifically? It’s gonna look cool in my bathroom 💀

@@kensurfs hi Ken I will play your video again hopefully it will play your voice with the video, I watch you from the UK from where I live in Chelmsford Essex, your top with your recommendations and how you flow with your shaving 👍👍
Your strokes are too long for such an aggressive sharp blade. Going slow but long strokes will not stop the lather and hair cut off from clogging the blade. So from the top of your cheek to jaw should not be done as a single stroke but should be half a stroke. Same with the neck. It may feel slower doing that but in all honesty it may add 2 minutes to overall shave.
